JDM STI or USDM STI BBS on bugeye WRX?

I am shopping for used rims and narrowed my choices down to two:
My car: WRB 2002 WRX
1. JDM STi 17" rims (gold)
2. USDM STI BBS rims (gold)
Which one in your opinion looks better and has this "OEM" look on bugeye WRX, lowered on AGX/Eibach springs? :)
Currently on 2005 WRX rims and winter tires

Find me a cheaper forged wheel that weighs 15-16lbs that you can get for 7-800 a set with tires. Would you rather him buy 19-21lbs rotas for the same price?? YAY lets slow our car down with knockoffs.

first off i never said anything abt rota's..but by the way i see these bbs's sell..i see some that goes for 1000+..you can def get a set of volks,5zigens,prodrive,AND jdm sti's for 1000-1400..i mean if youre all for the "yay i have stock wheels but im saving 4lbs" look:rolleyes:

^ you could get some Enkei RPF-1's for about $900 @ about 15.6 lbs for 17X8 that clears brembos. Or some 5zigen FN01R-c's (not forged but w/e great wheels) for even cheaper and lighter than the BBS. That's just some of your options. Wedssport TC-005's, Kosei makes some cheap ligth wheels...etc. etc. Plus you aren't getting the same look as every other STI. Just my thoughts

It seems to me that he is going for an OEM look as he is looking for jdm or usdm STi rims. Also 4 lbs of rotational mass is HUGE you will notice the difference. What i would suggest is getting the 57f's from W1 for 1200 if you need to go away from OEM rims. Forged and weigh about the same as STi BBS.

to add to the above though if I was in the market for some new rims I would go with Prodrive (made by O.Z.)

If the bugeye is done right I think the USDM wheels looks like sex on it.
Most of these Bammas dont know these same wheels came on the JDM 02 Spec-c  JDM V7s never did anything for me. Have fun with your new rims.

txl146 can you post a full side shot of your car im interested to see 05 rims on a bugeye
| driftgear | 01-31-2007 02:22 AM |
all you bugeye guys need to get eyelids like those on the jun auto impreza, makes the car look 10x more aggressive with a kit
| BU308 | 01-31-2007 04:37 AM |
Both wheels look nice on a bugeye. The only thing i don't like about the JDM STi wheels is that they are heavy. You guys are so lucky to have them USDM BBS readily available on the second hand market. They are actually the ultimate JDM factory bugeye wheels for us in Asia. They worth up to $1200 used while the STi wheels only worth $300-400max.

I thought STI JDM wheels are around 17-18lbs each??

wow.. the JDM V7 gold's were my favorite rim, but after seeing that they weigh 18 lbs.. maybe i should just go with my 17x8.5 Advan RG II's which weigh 15 lbs.
that or a Volk TE37.. but those cost another 6-700 more than the Advans...

Those of you who may be wondering about weight of JDM V7 and USDM STI wheels, here are actual weights:
~19 lbs for JDM V7
~16 lbs for 04 USDM BBS
~19 lbs for JDM V7
~16 lbs for 04 USDM BBS

The JDM v7's are sexy but not for $900.
What's the typical price range (and availability) on these.
I don't personally care for lots of spoke wheels (BBS)
