JGTC thread-GDB Cusco Impreza pic!!

I posted photoshop prediction before in this forum, but the real one showed up for JGTC test day in Fuji.
I like it!
This year new Impreza is specially allowed to enter JGTC although it is 4dr car.
The Cusco impreza is factory supported by STi starting this year and the engine is WRC engine modified to suit GT sprint race.
I'll be there in Japan to watch this car in rd2 Fuji event.:)

More than low, that sucker is WIDE. Makes the 22B look like a motorcycle.
Note how it looks like the wheel is almost entirely outside the area of the stock WR.

The benfit of side exhuasts is that on a car this low, the rear axles are not very high above the pavement, so putting a large diameter pipe under the axles is not possible.

In the article it says their wheels are lightweight magnesium wheels...and the entire body is carbon fiber!

the website says they're made by RacingHart which means they're magnesium versions of the cp035's....*droooool*

those holes in the trunk is for fueling during the race.
One is for the fuel to go in the the other is for the air in the tank to come out.

Hrm, it's not AWD, it's a front/rear setup. Shucks, I thought this one would be similar to the Impreza LM version in GT3 :D

Uhhh, Rick, In the GT series "LM" is an indication of two things....
Its a race car
Its a BS car either made up whole cloth by the GT team, or is based off of a crazy one off "tuner" car, that may or may not work well in real life.
And in a pure pavement racer I'd want RWD at the top levels of competition. This allows you to move the motor back a foot or so atleast. Guess, what, suddenly the engine bay is mindblowingly huge, and that FMIC with flipped intake has a ultra short plumbing path. As does the exaust to the turbo since the turbo can be placed right infront of the motor.

MR-S and Silvia are semi-factory teams. They are fast.
CUSCO is supported by STi more and more so I hope they'll be up on podium several times.
Among private teams RE-Amemiya RX-7 is impressive, they are always around top 5 and they are not supported by MAZDA. Legendary tuner Mr. Amemiya is doing a good job.

yeah i agree, the ehadlight is not as agressive as other part of the car. If the stock projectot lights are too heavy for racing, then something like WRC car would be nice.
The black and white color scheme photo was in the testing and it is not really a paint scheme. It is "unpainted". Obviously everything black is carbon fiber and everything white is the original color of the WRX STi which the race car is based on.

I'm sure it's a great racecar.. but I don't like it very much. I just don't like racecars that don't resemble the car that it's based on very much. Open wheels racers are a different matter, as well as purpose built racecars. I guess that's why I am a great fan of the BTCC from a few years ago.. where the Primeras, Volvos, Audis and BMWs looked like the cars in the showrroms.. albeit with body kits..:D. But that's just my opinion.
