To wing or not to wing, that is the question.

So I'm looking to do some stuff to my car to get her having a little more show than what I've been focusing on so far.
My dad is bugging me to get a Kaminari wing. Now, back when I first bought the car, the Kaminari wing was definitely on the menu. But as time has gone by, I've started to really like the plain clean look of the stock wing... It's not too much, but it's not too little. I definitely don't want a cop attractant here, the last thing I need is a ticket (owned the car for 1 year now and no tickets :devil: ).
So what ya'll think guys? Kaminari wing or stock?

I was thinking riser, but if I do, it'd probably be that limited STi one... It's a little lower and a heck of alot more rare.

i think that Kaminari wing looks great...but ive always liked spoilers on cars...do your own style and if its big and bad doo that stuff.just my opinion....

You could always shave the holes and go wing less. I think its a really nice and clean look on the GD's or you could get the WRC wing that hangs off the back that one is really cool!

well, if it was my ride, i'd look around a little bit more first. unless you are really set upon this wing
i hate when i use the term "rice" because it's so unexplanatory (unless its something obvious like a bright purple civic sitting an inch off the ground :rolleyes: ) but it is kinda big.
do what you want :D might obstruct some views from your rear view mirror though, :lol:

I would stick with your gut instinct. Keep the stock spoiler. I feel the same way about it (plain, clean).
btw, could you let me know how it works out with the EDM projectors? It's been a serious consideration of mine for a little while now. If you find a good deal and have any insight, please pass it on if you don't mind.

Thanks for all the imput guys. I'm probably going to just keep the stock spoiler, I just wanted to see what everyone thought. I'm suprised it's even.

Those are Gruppe-S replica foglight covers. I had the STi decals on them but I misapplied one of them and it started peeling, and a letter was missing from the "Subaru Technica International" on one side, so I just took them off altogeather for the car show.
What I did now is put the IMPREZA decals from the New Age 2.5RS stock foglight covers. Much cleaner.

Not sure if you're still looking for suggestions or whatever, but I'm very happy with my WRC replica wing. It's a bit unique, fit great, decent price, fit the "stock" mounting holes, and makes me happy. Yeah it's huge, and I have enough sense to laugh about it.

the only wing that actually isn't too big on the wrx are the factory wing and the STI CF wing (gruppe-s replica wing).
other wings (including the STI factory wing) are too dang big, imo.

If you're ok with the idea of a riser, but don't want to raise the wing too high, then a DIY is quite easy. You probably remember a thread I started on a DIY wing riser. You could simplify that by using just one or two slabs of acrylic for a height raise of 1/2 or 1 inch. You can also taper the slab to give it a custom tilt.

If you're ok with the idea of a riser, but don't want to raise the wing too high, then a DIY is quite easy. You probably remember a thread I started on a DIY wing riser. You could simplify that by using just one or two slabs of acrylic for a height raise of 1/2 or 1 inch. You can also taper the slab to give it a custom tilt.

i have a V7 STi wing on my MBP sedan. I bought my car wingless and had the wing put on just a couple weeks after purchase. I now sometimes wish i had left it wingless or even put on the STi CF wing. I may trade trunks sometime with a wingless MBP.
edit- btw, i have always loved imprezas w/ the STi spoilers...for some reason, i dotn know what has come over me. EVeryone always compliments me on the STi wing, and it adds a totally different, really sporty look to the car. I dont know what to tell you.

That wing only looks good if that car is low and if you have a front lip. Also I would focus on power mods. Have you even done a uppipe?

Don't have a uppipe or downpipe yet, but they're coming soon. I just recently installed an MBC and my intake tract is only partly stock. So HA! Own34g again. :p
These are basically the only exterior things I'm doing. EDM lights, front lip. Maybe a lower sometime next year, [b][i]maybe[/i][/b] a bigger wing.

I'd have to second that...I have a Kaminari...Love the look..but I'm on my second set of piers (bases) and even these have developed stress cracks and bolt impressions...I've contacted Kaminari about it even sent pics...but I dropped it and quit hassling them cause they don't respond...That and the fact that the shop I bought them through (Alta Performance) is no longer, and they acting on my behalf...

Hmmm, IMO no spoiler at all looks the best... I don't like big wings, but if you REALLY want a spoiler of some kind, I guess keep the stocker.......
