Looking for Subie track cars to feature... part 1

Millencolin! 05-09-2006 02:07 PM

Looking for Subie track cars to feature...
I'm looking for anyone willing to help me out with my highschool web-desogn project. I've decided to feature subaru track/time attack/whatever you do on the race track cars. So, what I'd need from anyone who wants to help me out is this:

A medium sized picture of your car (not wallpaper sized but not something tiny)
Specs: Lap times? HP/torque weight, model year and all that, ya know, the basics...
Modifications: Basically anything aftermarket or that wasnt on your car when you bought it, and including safety harness/rollcage (duh!)
Your name, and what track you take it to or what race series you compete in.

Final note: I'd rather not feature any daily drivers, but more dedicated track cars. So if you are one of those guys that takes their car to the occasional track event, thanks but I'm looking for serious drivers

Thanks for you guy's help!
KC 05-09-2006 02:23 PM

How about, as part of doing your project, you research which people that post to this forum actually race their cars, and contact them, instead of putting something out there, and hoping they come to you? You can read many posts in this forum regarding those that do race on a higher level than occasional tracked/daily drivers.

Part of the whole thing of doing a school project (at least when I was in school) was called "research". That meant, that the one doing the article didn't cast a line hoping to be contacted by busy people... (which many race car drivers are...) we had to go and find those people and contact them personally.

Has that way of doing research changed recently where you make a general question/post on an internet forum and put it out there hoping to be contacted?

Nope, but the website is based on the racetracks themselves, and I have 2 weeks and only an hour and a half a day to do it. I need to concentrate on the racetracks, if I spend all my time finding racers that leaves me no time to actually make the whole website itself.
KC 05-09-2006 02:31 PM

Gee, that's too bad that you can only devote 1.5 hrs a day to your school work. That must suck.

And now I'm confused. Your 1st post said you're looking to focus the site on Subaru race cars.... then you said, it's just about race tracks.

I decided to feature subaru track carsas an addition to the main site. KC do you have nothing better to do than harrass me?
KC 05-09-2006 02:42 PM

Part of doing a project and getting help is knowing what you need help with in the 1st place. If I were a race car driver and I answered his questions, that would have nothing to do with the tracks he's researching. I live in New England... according to his post in OT, he's looking to do it on tracks in CA... or has that now changed too?

If he needed track info, then he should have asked for/about tracks. Not hoping to have busy race car drivers contact him with unnecessary details about listing mods, etc.

What do listing mods have to do about Tracks in Cali?

I'm trying to help you focus on what you really need believe it or not. Research is about you doing work, not having others do it for you. You need to do the legwork. Having it handed to you when it's convenient for you will not help you get the project done in time.

You need to research the tracks you want to have on the site, and contact/PM/E-mail the racers you'd like to have in the article as a good 1st shot. Saying you don't have time to do your own work (only 1.5 hrs) is laughable.

Start by searching in this forum the names of the tracks you want to feature. in those threads will be postings of people that have raced there. you can then e-mail them, or PM them looking for info. It really is much simpler... because sometimes those that race may not come to this forum every day/week.... you need to take the initiative.
Millencolin! 05-09-2006 02:48 PM

If i asked about track info, you would have posted the same exact reply only complaining that I didn't research the tracks myself.

I'd rather not argue about this pointless crap you've brought up, I'd appreciate it if you just dropped the subject, you've got no reason to be so negative.
BlackSnake 05-09-2006 02:50 PM

KC are you His teacher? You are thinking way to much into it. He asked for Track Cars that Happen to be Subarus with a List of Mod's and What lap times they Post on what tracks.

Help the Kid out. Dont Make it hard.
KC 05-09-2006 02:53 PM

This isn't helping???:
Start by searching in this forum the names of the tracks you want to feature. in those threads will be postings of people that have raced there. you can then e-mail them, or PM them looking for info. Since time is of the essence, and it's limited then he needs to go out and GET the info, not make a post and HOPE it shows up in his inbox. That's my whole point. He could end up a very disillusioned and disappointed kid that hands in a project in saying 'no one that races a subaru gave me data, so my project isn't what I wanted it to be'.

Something, something, subaru race car in Speed Challenge GT series something something...

Seriously, search the forum for the Speed GT car. Pleanty of photos, pleanty of info, actual times, hp figures, mod list. This would take you a total of 2min to find. The post is huge and has more information than you can make sense of.

KC is right. Hate to say it, but he is. That post alone should give you more than enough on the car part of your paper and even the track part for the Long Beach GP street course. Hope this helps...

Here's how it works in my household. Type the project keywords into Google, reverse engineer an outline from the search results, fill it out with all the data from Google being careful to reword as appropriate, get yet another 'A' and move on to the next one.

"It was only 10 over! Come on!"

"It was only a flesh wound! Come On! (I'll bite yer kneecaps off!)"

KC is a pansy, all I did was ask for a little help, its not like I go and post a thread for every essay or project I do. I understand where he is coming from, but I'm just aking for some people to give me links or some info on their own race cars! its not like I am asking them to create the site for me.

And by the way, thanks to all of those who went out of their way to give me good links, hopefully if I finish in time I can have it on the net by the end of the school year... So I guess its kinda like free advertising!

Millencolin! is the first SCIC youth that uses decent grammar and punctuation when writing a new post. Frankly, I think he deserves a few honorary degrees just for rising above his roots.
KC 05-11-2006 03:21 PM

You sure about that?

KC you must be one of the pessimists, and a damn crazy cynic. What exactly is "drviel", is that a word? Or did you mean "Drivel"?

I just typed in "drviel" and got this: http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=drviel

I'm guessing you are one of those guys who tells kids, "...in my day I had to walk 5 miles to school in rain and snow, and it was uphill to!"
