The knob is the standard Race AirLeather, with a different insert. I prefer the Momo logo, as it matches the steering wheel.
You can get the trim (STi, not Impreza) from a variety of sources. Check Vivid's sight, or the classifieds.

The knob is actually the Race Airleather Aluminum "S" model. Notice that the base is thicker than the standard model. You can see it at www.momo.it

And that is why they call you "dead-eye"!

Wow, I've never seen that Impreza trim before.. I've seen the STi. Not sure which one I like better.
| Brady | 05-24-2002 02:55 AM |
is the STI shifter trim engraved, or is it otherwise emblazoned. i guess the same question goes for the impreza shifter trim. kinda hard to tell for sure from pics. i think it might look cool to fill an "sti" in with cherry-blossom.
| TaiChih | 05-24-2002 10:09 AM |
The IMPREZA is recessed or engraved if you will. And that looks to be from a JDM standard model, not STI:D
| Rebellion | 05-24-2002 10:15 AM |
STI shifter plate... hmm I am diggin the plain ol' impreza plate tho..
TaiChih... can ya get some of these (the Impreza ones not the STi ones)

I can assure you that getting the generic from here, http://www.spswebpage.com/products/momo_shifter.html , would be cheaper.
| Rzk | 05-24-2002 11:55 AM |
So, where can you get that shift knob? Looks like a direct screw in. No little mounting screws to deal with. Sweet.
| Rebellion | 05-24-2002 12:22 PM |
i doubt it's a direct screw in... but maybe.
TaiChih... any ideas if you can source that trim plate? I kinda like it better than the STi one.

It looks like a direct screw in. No bottom cap. No screws to hide, unless I am missing something here. Anyone familiar with this knob?

all momo shift knobs are with set screws, on this model the set screws are hidden by the shift boot which is pulled up above those. easy and clean mod.

this is what I have.
I also have extra 1 black leather and 2 alum in my hand.
who else want it?

I have only found one place that carries the momo shift boot to match the race air. Does anyone know of a place that i could find them both? I too would be interested in the Impreza thingie for around the shift area. Thanks

yes, 1 extar NEW leather, and 2 Aluminum
here is the photo installed in my RS. leather selling @ $75+$7 shipping & handling.
| Rebellion | 05-24-2002 06:17 PM |
hmmm ... thanks mucho for the pic windfactory.... I'm not really digging the sphere so much now though. :(
I dislike the chrome and the leather isn't perforated like the race air leather... just doesn't match the steering wheel like the other one.

Here you go
Both parts can be found at Fastwrx.com
Here's the link: http://www.fastwrx.com/stialshiftri.html
Though, I think the aluminum trim is actually "STI" instead of impreza, but same idea.. The shift knob is on another menu on that site.

didn't someone rig up a threaded momo knob adapter about 2 months ago or so? i have no idea when or what thread, but it seems this was something someone accomplished to rid of the hassle of tightening screws.

Any more info on this knob? I checked with TaiChih and his vendor can't get it. I also checked e-bay but again nada.

Guys - just emailed Japan to get the scoop on both parts...give me a couple days to figure it out for you.

Good ole' Google told me to go here and scroll down toward the bottom for the Race "S" Airleather Aluminum shift knob. I never ordered from that company so I don't know how they are.
What exactly is the differerence between the model "S" and the regular AirLeather Aluminum? Is it just the base? And what does that larger base do for you?
Thanks,
Todd

technically, the MOMO logo has the little subaru logo as well, but other than that, it's all the same.;)

AHA! found it
ok, found it finally. Unfortunately for most,if not all people the knob will cost $165 shipped.:(

Check out this thread:
http://www.i-club.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=146661
This guy Deezel had the same thoughts as everybody else. He hated the design of the screws and wanted a true "screw in" solution, so he got a buddy to machine some special adapters for our shifters.
Unfortunately, he's sorta been MIA recently, and his buddy bailed on him, but go on and check out the thread -- maybe if their's enough interest, somebody will jump on it!

OK guys - we can easily get this shift knob for you..takes about 2 weeks.
Not sure if I am allowed to post prices here, but I will...moderators, if you are not cool with this, just tell me!
This is a screw on MOMO knob, no setscrews, and it is made specifically for the Subaru's, and will fit the WRX perfectly (not sure if it will fit older GC8 models though).
price is $140.00 including shipping, and takes us about 2 weeks to get once ordered.

Z1 performance, are you talking about the momo race "S" airleather knob? This knob is a direct screw on and fits perfectly? Does it also have a nub to hold the shift boot up like the stock shifter does? Please let me know, I've been looking for a shift knob for a while, this could be the one.
| Z1 Performance | 05-30-2002 12:38 PM |
The knob I am talking about is the one shown in the first post in this thread
| imprezive one | 05-30-2002 01:03 PM |
okay, so it is the "S." I just need to know if this knob has a nub to hold up the boot because that is my main concern. From the pic it appears that it does, but I need verification if anyone can provide it.
| TaiChih | 05-30-2002 04:18 PM |
Damn, that's a great price.:D Make sure it has the little subaru logo too:lol:

More Questions!
Z1 Performance,
Are you getting these as a custom purchase through Momo? If so, can you ask them if they can make (or maybe they already have but I haven't seen it) a matching "E" brake and boot for that too? The only one I saw is the "Pit Stop" model "e" brake, it looks nice but I'd rather have the metal-like finish to match the shift knob metal finish in the picture (first post).
Also, does the knob your selling for $140 come with the boot or will the factory boot suffice? I have the factory short throw...will it fit in that as easily as the standard shifter? Finally, how do I go about ordering? Paypal? Call for order?
- Logan
ps - If you could find out about the "e" brake & Impreza trim, please let me know. If I could get them all at once it should be cheaper on shipping prices hey? Thanks.

Z1 - I'm interested if the know will fit with a MOMO shift boot (that I currently have installed)...
Anyone interested in a 99.95% new (in the box with instructions/paperwork, never used, but screwed on the shifter one time) STi (piston type) shift knob?
