NRG Steering wheel and 2.5 Quick Release Installed

Well My Ups guy brought me some goodies yesterday and I couldnt wait and installed it all right away. :) It went into my 05 sti.
1. NRG Steering Wheel
2. NRG Quick Release 2.5 Black
3. NRG Short Hub
Install was not hard at all. NRG stuff came with No instructions. But it turned out Great. I love the way the steering wheel feels and Quality is great. I get more legroom, But the wheel is kinda in the way of Cluster, but I am sure I can get used to that.
NEW 2.5 QR is great. Very easy to use. Self centering and Zero play.
I didnt figure out the Horn yet... Need to do some research on that.
and Finnaly here is pictures :) Enjoy.

The Nrg qr is no different than the $400 Prodrive model. We haven't had any issues with any of the ones we've sold.
I would go with the v2.5 for the racecar, it was designed to be easier to take off, with gloves on.:) That's why i switched to it.

super sweet deal of 305$ (but it was a special deal and we go waaay back with Vendor. It was my Bday gift) But Price shouldnt be alot higher. 2.5 QR cost alot more than 2.0. So if you want to get a deal lower than 300 you can get 2.0 instead of 2.5

The 2.5 QR is brand spanking new that just came out couple weeks ago. And I love it. Alot easier to take off the wheel. Great finish. VERY solid with ZERO play.

Could you take a pic looking at the cluster from about your eyeball position, and post how tall you are?
I'm 6'1 and could use a bit more leg room, and I've been looking for a good RQ and wheel combo for a while - I'm definitely interested in this!

| RockBlocker | 11-14-2006 06:14 PM |
Im 6'6" and they work no problem. I also have the longer hub so the shorty hub will be no issue for your height. A friend of mine was in a accident Friday that totaled his car completely and the wheel is still entact. very durable and very strong. If you have any other questions about the products let me know. I can get these as well.

I was just looking at MOMO hubs earlier, I might get the 2.5 NRG instead. Is that Parts NO.STW-009S-NRG with custom red stitching or could they sell you one with it? Do people ever take the steering wheel with them such as at a hotel. I'm sure some do it would be proactive.
| ProdriveRex | 11-15-2006 11:10 AM |
If I would have to leave my car at hotel ... oh yea I would take a wheel with me. Same with leaving it somewere where I dont feel safe. Click... and take your wheel with ya. ;)

[COLOR="Black"]yea man. not hard at all.
Remove Airbag (two screws on the sides)
Remove the Wheel. (before removing the wheel make sure its dead straight)
Remove clock spring (DONT CUT IT follow the yellow wires down and there is quick disconnect plug)
Assemble qr and wheel (thre is a dot on QR inticating where the top point is)
Bolt in the hub.
NOW if you really want to be cool and Retain AUTO canceling feature and HORN. Then check out my How To thread about that too.

Awesome!!!!!!!! I must have one of those babies. I assume you do lose cruise control option with this swap?? If so it may be a small price to pay to gain a much better feeling/looking wheel. It looks awesome. Why does subaru stick such a big wheel in our WRXs?

Clock spring is that black peice with yellow sticker on it...
fist when you take off aribag. unplug your steering wheel from Clock spring. there is 2 plugs. one for cruise control and anohter one for horn and bag. unplug them first so you can take wheel out of your way.
then take off lower and upper steering wheel covers and you will see that clock spring is held with 4 screws. take them out.
then follow the wires down to your steering coumn. You will need to take over the panel that is underneeth your steering coulum. (the one that have OBD2 diagnostic plug in it)
:) take it eazy and slow.

is there any way to keep the clock spring for the horn and cancel signals
| ProdriveRex | 04-01-2012 10:31 PM |
Wow this thread is old =) If I remember correctly there was no way to keep the complete clock spring. You have to use one of the pieces from the clockspring for the turn signal cancel function and wire in the horn. There is a thread with How To on this couple posts above.
