Peru ProSolo part 1

MNbiker 08-10-2004 09:32 AM

Peru ProSolo
Things have been a little quiet - The Peru Pro is less than a week away, and no smack-talking or Huggers lore.....

So who's gonna slash Tommy's tires for me? (probably the only way I'm gonna beat the [emailprotected]! :furious: )

-Steve

p.s. Anyone need a place to stay? I have a reservation at the Best Western in Kokomo and no roommate, at present. PM/email me, if you want to split the room charges.
trhoppe 08-10-2004 09:50 AM

I'm looking forward to the Hugger.

Looks like wiese is driving your car. I wonder how quick he can be.
Also, will you please GET ON THE GAS this time Steve?

Miranda will be looking to drive in class competition like she did in the challenge runs in Oscoda. We'll be a little dazed Saturday after the friday night at Huggers, but we should be 100% for Sunday

-Tom
jcroy66 08-10-2004 10:07 AM

So is there a group outing to Huggers planned? Phil has started saving up one-dollar bills.
PhilC 08-10-2004 10:10 AM

Jen and I are making our first trip out to Peru. Looking forward to seeing what all the talk is about the Hugger. And hoping that I can drive at least as well as I did in Oscoda.

No trip back to the Hugger on Saturday night Tom?

As long as Richard doesn't do to my car what he did to Reto's in Topeka, all will be well...

Gas pedal? Is that the thing under my right foot? The one I forgot how to use in Oscoda?

OK, looks like we may be leaving the house a little later than we'd like (service guy is coming out "before noon" tomorrow). So if we happen to miss you guys at the track, can someone please leave us a message at our hotel about dinner/entertainment plans? We're staying at the Hampton in Kokomo. Thank you!! :)

Curt and I (yet more STX guys) are staying @ the Fairfield Inn. Hopefully we can meet up with everybody for dinner or whatnot.

I look forward to seeing everyone on Friday!

In honor of that tradition I say: "Break a tranny."

The Hugger is highly overrated, IMO. They happily charged me $3 to get in, but didn't bother to tell us that all I'd be allowed to do is WATCH. :furious: Apparently the dancers aren't even allowed to TALK to women, much less anything else. The story I hear is that the owner of the Hugger won't let any of the dancers dance for women because his wife left him for another woman. If he takes out his hang-ups on all women because of that, then I think his wife made the right choice. Phil said to mention that the Hugger is very cheap though.

Any update?
KC 08-16-2004 07:44 AM

Results are up: http://www.scca.com/_Filelibrary/File/solo-04pipro-sun.pdf

STS:
1. Hollis (Honduh Hatch)
2. Brooks (.162 back in his 2.5RS)
3. Whipple aka Solo-X (.020 behind Brooks in his non-hatch civic)

STX:
1. Cormier (Mini)
2. Weise (.044 back co-driving Steves WRX WAGON!!)
3. Hoppe (.688 behind Weise)

Larry fine in AS finished 4th, with Kim 7 of 14 in L2. Jen Croy 10th of 14 also in L2 (you weren't last!!! :D ) Matt Huntman in SM finished 6th of 11, Jeff Templeton 6th of 8 in GS. That covers all the Subarus.

Andy Hollis went on to win the Super Challenge and Honda Street Challenge.

Tom... when are you gonna give up going to Peru? 2 years now you've lost there. ;)

MNbiker 08-16-2004 09:19 AM

Made it back back from Peru at 1 AM this morning. Driving through Chicago was major suckage - as usual. :(

It was a good event - best ProSolo course I've driven. There were too many cones, so it ws hard to find the course the first couple runs - but the layout itself was fast, challenging and didn't seem to favor one type of car.

Courtney drove the wheels off his Mini all weekend. Richard was within an eye-blink of catching him, but couldn't quite pull it off. Shawn, Tom and I all hit a lot of cones. (it sure would be a lot easier, if they didn't put those pesky orange things right where we want to drive! :p ) Besides brain fade, Tom & Shawn were having some car setup issues. Unfortunately, I don't have that excuse, as my car was spot on all weekend.

Richard should have taken out Andy Hollis in the first round of the Challenge. He smoked Andy by .66 on the first run, but redlit  :furious: his 2nd run - handing the win to Andy on a silver platter.

Yes I think the Hugger is overrated..but ive been going there since I was able to too. Havnt been there in a couple years but back in the day...anything went as long as you had the greenbacks to cover it. There are other gentlemens clubs in Kokomo you know.....

As far as the owner and women on women...news to me.

I wasnt able to make it up to the autox I had to work...is there a sight that has the dates on it, Id like to make the next one and see what its all about.

trhoppe 08-16-2004 11:40 AM

The car kinda sucked there as it was pushy all weekend. I dunno WHY we didn't make more changes to it, but we were stupid. We both also drove like total ass and made 2 mistakes every single ****ing run which cost a lot of time. Dunno why I couldn't correct them until the challenge.

First run in the challenge, I said **** it, pumped the rear tires to 55psi and went for it. I broke out by 0.7 on the left on courtney's dialin  That was fixing both mistakes. Why I couldn't do that in class competition I dunno.

Enough excuses though. I learned a lot and am better off after getting my ass kicked. Rich and Courtney drove well and it showed. We'll be back stronger is all I have to say :)

-Tom
10th Warrior 08-16-2004 12:34 PM

well, i continued my streak of major suck at Peru. i'm really starting to despise that place. if it weren't for the hugger, i probably wouldn't keep going back :) and to you all who are hating on the hugger, you have NO idea what you're talking about. sample more strip clubs, and you will learn that NOWHERE compares to the hugger :D it was actually even better this year!

sat. morning i was happy with. i was 4th, but right with the leaders in a very, very tough GS. plus i never had a perfect run, plus the odd "distraction" on course ;) so i felt very good about my standing. dropped some time in the afternoon, but everyone else dropped more. stayed 4th though. had i not redlit my 40.2 i would have been much closer. sunday we do not mention. very small pickups, and not helped by the lack of cars they sent to the line. 10 extra PSI in Hoosiers not fun. the second drivers then smoked me finally. down to 6th, losing over 1sec per course on the fastest raw times. does not bode well for Nats. Garfield was kind enough to give me a nice pep talk in impound though! he gets a  for that!

oh, also corded my new hoosiers on sat. not bad since i only ran them for the first time last weekend  oh well, that's why i have another set of fronts for Nats ;)

For a single guy it would probably be a decent club and it was certainly cheap, but I have never been to or even heard of another club that would let women in the door, charge them cover, and then not let them even talk to the girls. As far as Jen is concerned the club sucked and I think Miranda almost certainly agrees.

As for my driving, I don't really know what happened. I sucked and just couldn't get the course down right. Then I basically threw away all of my Sunday morning runs by not having my head in the right place when it counted. I shouldn't have turned myself in for that 37.944 on the right side course. If we had let that one stand I would have won the class by well over a second. Can anyone at all explain to me how that one could have happened since we all know I didn't run a 37.9, but I am sure that it was a LOT faster than the 40.9 I had to stand on (actually the run that got thrown out was the only run all weekend on either course that felt close to right). I know Tom spun on the other side but I just don't understand how that ended up screwing up my time.

Oh yes.. I agree.. the Hugger sucked much butt.. MMUUUUUCCCCCHHHHHH butt. As if it wasn't bad enough that Jen and I could only sit there (after paying $3 to get in :furious: ), but out of the ENTIRE staff, there was ONE little blonde girl that danced well enough to make sitting there at all entertaining. She danced for 10 minutes. I was stuck there for more like 2 or more hours. 10 minutes out of 2 hours just don't cut it! God.. that club is losing SOOOOO much money by not allowing chicks to get lapdances. How many of you Subaru boys would have been shelling out the cash to see Jen and I get danced on? ;)

As for driving:

I sucked more this weekend than I did at my very first autocross. I did so poorly that I'm not sure I could even duplicate the suckage running blindfolded on a brand new course I've never walked.

As for the Subie I almost had a head on with... I am really really sorry. I owe ya one!

Cliff's Notes: I sucked, but the Hugger sucked more! :(

let me just say it was definitely on track but all's well that end's well ;) not a big deal.

and for you crazy people who think Baby Dolls is even somehow comparable to the Hugger, all i can say is you're crazy!!!! and a $3 cover for a strip club is incredibly low! and if you aren't into the strippers, who cares, the pitchers are cheap :D

Haven't been to Baby Dolls (or even Topeka) yet, so I can't compare. All I can compare to is my "home" strip club here in Cleveland.

$3 cover is very low, I'll agree. If I had been permitted to enjoy myself, I most likely would have. But it's kinda a downer to walk up to the stage to get a dance, only to get shot down because the owner of the club has some personal issues that he has decided to take out on the entire female half of the species.

Oh, and sure, pitchers are cheap. But no Guinness. :( Basically, I'll drink Bud Lite if it's free. And well, since it was pretty close to free and the only amenity of the club I was permitted to partake in, I drank it. :)

A couple of years ago, when I was at BDs, the Texas F stock crowd tried to get a lap dance for me (unbeknowst to me!), but was told "no lap dances for women." However, they've evidently changed their "rules," because last year, Lee Piccione's girlfriend got a lap dance or two, as did Jennifer Isley, and IIRC, so did Mike Neary's fiancee. One of the super stock guys paid one of the dancers to kiss me  , which kind of took me off guard. Guess it was a good thing my boyfriend wasn't there, eh? ;)

As for Peru... I'm still undecided about the course. Having driven a crazy fast course in Wendover two weeks previous, the super-tight finish and the turnaround weren't in my "favorite FS manuevers" list. Oh, and an FS Camaro does not launch like an AWD Subaru!! :p

Actually the #15 silver ZO6 went off the course and through the ditch on Saturday afternoon during SS. It looked like he locked up his brakes and he went right off and then back on after coming back through the cross-over.
