Porsche "Turbo" badge pictures part 1

Porsche "Turbo" badge pictures
I have seen one or two wrxs w/ turbo badges, and they look really good, and I want to get one, but my friends think it would look stupid. Does anybody have any pics so that I can prove them wrong?
WHTWRX 04-30-2003 06:55 PM

I think a "Boxer 4" in the same font would look really nice. Is there a place that would make one for me?
LinuxGuy 04-30-2003 07:14 PM

Ehhhh, thats a tad ricey.
Kean 04-30-2003 07:38 PM

I saw the pics and still thought it looked stupid. ;) Here's the thread where I saw it but it doesn't look like the pic link works anymore.

http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=290954&highlight=turbo+emblem

btw, if you really like it....then do it. Personally, I think it's kinda tacky to add emblems or stickers to a car. ....but then again, do you really care what I think or someone else for that matter? :)

Hope the link helps. Good Luck.

Yes it is. Even though its kinda special that we and Porsche run boxer engines, putting thier badges on ours would be just the same as that guy who puts the "Type R" and "VTEC" badge on his Ford.

To each and his own.

Well... you could mutilate a porsche Boxster badge to read 'Boxer'... And then get the '4' from the Porsche Carrera 4 badging
Capt Crunch 04-30-2003 09:46 PM

I have the replica sti grill (more like liberal) with a fine balck mesh and I'm thinking of getting a black turbo badge to put on the upper right corner. Subtle, can't see it unless you look closely, and I DO have a turbo.

Sandkicker 04-30-2003 11:03 PM

me thinks porsche badge on wrx haves much suck :alien:

Just my opinion...

but if ya like it, do it. As I try to convince my friends and girlfriend that gold wheels would look awesoem on my black WRX sedan, they all think it woudl look stupid...but i'm convinced it'd look awesome, i love the gold on black... They also think the STI stuff looks stupid 'cause it's pink and "girlie".

So most people might not undestand many things that us subiephiles are into... but as far as dropping on badging from other manufacturers... that doesn't seem to make much sense, even if it does have a turbo... and mainly because everyone that sees it will be trying to figure out why you put a VW "turbo" badge on your car, since that badging looks like what you'd see on the back of the new turbo beetles to me... (might be the same, i dunno)... plus it's all swoopy and cursive and the subaru and impreza lettering isn't... doesn't seem to match.
T.O.WRX 04-30-2003 11:28 PM

if someone can host my pics i have the turbo badge on my car and will give htem to someone to host it actually looks nice. You get the best looks people can't figure out what car i drive. I get a chuckle

In my opinion....

Ford = Doesnt have a VTEC
Ford = Doesnt have a Type R
Subaru = has a Turbo boxer engine.

The "Turbo" badge from Porsche is not a model designation so I dont see how someone can compare that from a Type R badge on a FORD. Type R is a model name, "Turbo" badge is not a model name. You can completely compare a 911 badge on their Subaru to a Ford with Type R

ahhh, to each their own. :)

2.5RS/TS with a turbo badge (and an aftermarket turbo, of course) makes sense... WRX + turbo badge is redundant. WRX=turbo Impreza, plain and simple.

True, but not necessarily.

I get all the time "is that the one with the turbo?" or "Yeah, my friend got a WRX. He put a turbo and everything in it. Have you put a turbo in yours?"

Among people who know, yeah, WRX=Turbo but alot of people don't know that.

Personally, I think adding the turbo badge is clean and nice looking. I wouldn't do it myself, but I think it looks okay.

Eh, to me its like putting a Vtec badge on an ITR... just dumb. Why no put an "ABS" badge/sticker on there too, I mean people might not know that we have ABS brakes  . Its your money and your ride do what you like... opinions are like..., well you get the point.

so the American Honda made a dumb decision putting a VTEC-DOHC on the sides of a 1999-2000 Civic Si???

I think WRX badge was taken out in lieu of a Turbo badge. I have a Turbo badge where the WRX used to be, on top of the small IMPREZA badge. So, redundancy wont be an issue here. Of course, if someone had the WRX then IMPREZA then TURBO badge, you will be correct.

just my opinion...

"Type R" is not a model name. USA only had the Integra Type R but other models were available as Type R such as the Civic and the NSX.

As per the Turbo badge on a WRX... I would hate to have someone come up to me :" Is this a badge from a VW Beetle Turbo S?"

WR xplosive 05-01-2003 11:59 AM

Ti-REX, I was trying to point out that FORD obviously doesnt have a TYPE R. Hence, it would look really stupid. So a SUBARU with a turbo badge (from Porsche) isnt comparable to the FORD TYPE R badging

 Thats almost as dumb as taking off the "X" in GSX and adding "GS Turbo AWD" badging. The chassis you drive is an Impreza, the trim level is WRX, not an "Impreza Turbo". "Impreza Turbos" do exist, in oddball countries in Eastern Europe and South America, the also sold an "Impreza GT" but those are GC/GM bodied. This conversation is ranking up there with "Powered by Acura", just doens't make sense.
WR xplosive 05-01-2003 01:23 PM

Just how in the world can you compare "Powered by Acura" to a simple badging as Turbo? You are wayyy, going out of line.

As I said earlier, this Turbo badge isnt as bad as VTEC badge on a FORD. Opinions regarding this Turbo badge is getting out of hand...ridiculous and OA.

And maybe you can explain why 99-00 Civic's badge is dumb. Because I just dont get it...
BOY 05-01-2003 01:34 PM

Unless you know of another engine configuration that came with the Si, "VTEC-DOHC" badging is retarded... shoot 99% of people on american roads don't know what either acronym means anyway. Ugh, and the justification that
I get all the time "is that the one with the turbo?" or "Yeah, my friend got a WRX. He put a turbo and everything in it. Have you put a turbo in yours?"
Come on, have you seen a WRX sans turbo?

If 99% of people doesnt know what DOHC-VTEC means, then why do you care if its dumb? And whats the percentage of the people who knows what WRX means? Wait, did you debadged your WRX?
Oo DaRk StAr oO 05-01-2003 05:26 PM

ABS Emblem thats awesome :D

Howabout a RE-92 emblem so everyone knows to stay clear of me.
pmartell12 05-01-2003 10:17 PM

I found what I think is the perfect turbo badge for the WRX. They are on their way to me right now. I will post more pics when I install it if you want.

Thumper23 05-01-2003 10:28 PM

That looks like that would fit quite nicely on the back of an WRX
pmartell12 05-01-2003 10:32 PM

The badge is pretty close to the size of the impreza badge below the WRX. I am still trying to decide weither I am going to replace the impreza badge, or put it by the trunk's lock. I picked up an AWD badge from the dealership, so I might try to even out the trunk. I get the car back tomorrow, then the fun will begin!!!
PPower 05-02-2003 04:01 AM

1990-91 Honda Preludes had an ABS badge if they had that option. What was strange was that you could have ABS or 4WS, but not both I believe. Maybe it was on 89 Preludes as well; I can't remember. i've seen a wagon with a Turbo badge on the rear gate, and it didn't look bad. jetguy has a front license plate with the Turbo badge on it. That way, you can take it off if you like. I'm too lazy to search for it though. ;)
Fernely 05-02-2003 09:57 AM

I remember that badge its off of the old school 280ZX Turbos built in 1982-83. Nice Badge!

I thought it was from an Impreza Turbo... a model in Europe... you see em all over scoobynet...
BlkRexWagon 05-02-2003 12:50 PM

Personally I'm a fan of removing badges, not replacing them or adding them but I'll try to be objective... I've seen the "turbo" badge mentioned on a few things and it looks VERY out of place. It doen't match any other emblems on the cars and does look pretty r.... (almost :D )

As far as the boxer motor thing... does that mean everything else out there should use some "I-4" emblems?

911 is the model designation, yes? How about a 944 with turbo badge, which one is the model designation...Turbo or the 944?

actually, I didnt ask. The thread starter did ask. I would never ask any opinion regarding looks here in NASIOC. People from the state of AL or South NJ might find Altezza light very attractive but the opinion will vary from state to state
bjteel 05-04-2003 03:45 PM

BOY,

I think there is a WRX without a turbo (in japan only).

I personally wouldn't put a turbo badge on my car, although I have seen RS-T badges, but they didn't have a turbo to begin with, so why not.

A "B O X E R" in place of the "S U B A R U" on the trunk would be subtle and a little different. I would get decals made in the Subaru font, though.
Gonz 05-04-2003 08:41 PM

Unless you've done an engine swap extra badges are ricey. That is: all show. Do what you want, it's your car.

While you're at it, don't forget to get an " INTERCOOLER" badge off of Volvo you can even mount it on the side of the hood scoop.

Some people might not know you have an intercooler or what that is

or care :)
