That top car is an RS200 car registration number E900 BAP. How do i know??
I was driving that very car at the Nurburgring just a few weeks ago. That car is now owned by Richard Squire.
picie from my westie on our way to the ring, the RS200 in front and richards 22B to the right. :D The RS200 has 575BHP.

Top picture...duh...
The bottom picture...definatly a Lancia Delta.
The shifter boot is totally a Lancia design. As well as the flat panel dash board.
Heres a pic of a Dela Integrale Evo-II.

I like how in the first pic you can see your Suby beanie on. That's pretty cool, although it was probably just coincidental.

The hat in the piccie is pure luck, i have an Impreza too, hence the WRC subie hat (plus is was bloody freezing). ;)

Well, I see that Crashton got it first, I was hoping someone else besides Jonfelstead would see this before he unleashed his God Like Zen rally car knowledge upon us all. :D :D
How does he do it?
Jonfelstead--->> Does the westie redline at 7000 or is that orange needle just there for looks?
Also, is there any kind of heatsheild between the exhaust and the rear shocks on the RS? I can kinda see something, but it still looks like cook-time for the poor shocks.
Since I am not that good at finding pics that can stump everyone, can someone else please post a quiz?
Mike

Hi Mike
My westie redlines at 7200rpm, it's got an Escort Cosworth Turbo engine in it that has a steel bottom end. Look at the speedo, goes to 145MPH, i have had the car at 7200rpm in 5th, at that speed the speedo is pointing down indicating 165MPH!! hehe
330BHP turbo power in a cigarette packet baby! :D

The exhaust has a plate welded to the side of the box with an airgap of a cm or so to act as a kind of inbuilt heatshield.

John, that Westfield is sick man, absolutely sick. That shouldn't even be legal. 330hp is stinking fast in a Sierra! Strapped to a frame with some wheels on it it's got to be ludicrous!

I am officially not worthy.
But havnet never seen an 037 in person, and only breifly riding in an Integrale 16v in AU. I havent had much exposure to Lancia. Other then what ive red about them. So all things considered, jsut from looking at pictures, i came preaty damn close...and the two dashboards are preaty similar...but i see the small wing window piller on the door that gave it away.
Hehe, thanks for the lesson John.

Quick Rally Car Quiz.
Okay, here are 2 pictures of roadgoing versions of famous rally cars. I tried to find some pictures that would be a challege so hopefully some of you are familiar with these cars in their every day street clothes.

Wow, I need to start making some money and fast. The driving/riding skills I honed since I could barely walk, are going to rot away, before I ever get a chance to wield some serious hardware. Yeah, yeah I know the whole world is crying for me.
I'll tell you one thing - To hell with Eastern philosophy! I'm a greedy white devil from the West! Seeing toys like that makes it even easier. Kind of lights a fire under your bum. Anyways until then, I'll have to make it a point to do more with less.
If I ever make it back to the UK in the near future, I simply must get a couple of rides from you gentlemen. I may be going to the Finland this year to see relatives, and catch the Neste Rally Finland. If not, next year for sure. The stopover is almost always London, maybe I could spend an extra day or two there.
Cheers!

no probs at all, if your in the UK sometime give me a shout, i should be able to get you a run in the 22B and Westie, the RS200 is more tempremental, it's a proper GroupB animal and has to be treated with respect so i wont give you a run in that unless i am blasting round a circuit at the time your over.
The RS200 is pretty mad, 575BHP, spins all four wheels above 100MPH, 0-60 in 2.6 seconds etc. :D

Personally, i think you guys are the lucky ones. You live in a land of great Beauty and Oportunity.
There is nothing stopping you guys having something as quick as i have, just use your imagination.
It's also great to see rallying taking off in the USA. Get out there and support your local events. If you cant compete help run the stages, help make the USA a place to go rallying and get it back in the World Championship. You're missing out on a hell of a show!!

No probs, it's all very simple and up front.
I own the Westfield, it's mine, all mine. :D
I also own a Subaru Impreza Sport as my daily driver. :D
The RS200 is owned by Richard Squire as is the 22B, as i state in the picture i posted above.
I have the priveledge and honour of having free use of both the RS200 and 22B in return for offering my techy input into the maintanence of these vehicles.
There are only 3 people insured to drive these cars, Richard, who owns them, Harj who stores them on his property and me who looks after them.
So, in a nutshell, i get to use $150,000 worth of cars for free. Sucks ass dunnit. :D LOL
I wont mention the 5 litre Esprit race car or the GroupA Escort Cosworth forest rally car i help run as thats just rubbing it in. :D Hang on, i just did. ;) :D LOL

John when you say look after them do you financially maintain them or does Rsquire maintain them? I heard about the unfortunate incident with the 22B engine and hope you guys get it all fixed.
How often does Rsquire go over to the UK and drive his babies? does harj use them at all then if you look after them? Sorry im just thinking about the right person to contact when im coming over if its viable for a ride in the 22B.
John was the RS200 a real monster to control when you guys were at the famous Nurburgring? how did you manage the control of something like that? could scare me like hell.

Richard owns the cars. It depends what we have been using them for as to who pays. If i have been blasting round a track in the 22B it's hardly fair for richard to pay for new brakes and tyres, so myself or harj would do that.
So basically Richard owns them and takes the responsibility for them financially, but we dont take the piss, if we used some parts that would not normally be used in just keeping the cars running then of course we would foot the bill.
Like i say, i am the main input from a techy perspective, harj stores the cars and also drives them and richard owns them.
If you're coming to the UK you can contact either Harj or myself, doesnt matter which as we both take responsibility for the cars.
I have already given a few I-Club members runs round Donington Park race circuit in the 22B in the past in similar circumstances.
The 22B should be back on the road within the week. We had to wait a long time as STi were being ******** in the supply of head gaskets.

I have heard the RS200's are a difficult car to drive, how do you find it John as I think your one of the few out there that have driven something as awesome as this.

Richards RS200 is setup way too stiff at the moment. Its too uncompromising for use on the road, spins all 4 wheels above 100MPH.
I am going to do a fair amount of work to transform the car into something that is drivable.
You cant really compair the two cars, they are too diferent. What people dont realise is that the groupB cars were designed to be driven on the raged edge all the time, they are a lot of work to control. You cant compair it to driving something like the 22B as that first and foremost is designed to be user friendly, the RS200 is designed to be fast even if that means the driver has to be highly skilled to extract the speed.
I havent been in the RS200 enough yet to really talk about it in any detail but once i have finished with it, it will be relatively easy to drive and unbelievebly fast. Right now its just too race track spec to be usable on the road.
My westie takes a lot of controlling too, but the driving tecnique is very diferent and more natural to me. The westie is faster than the RS200 upto 120MPH after that the aero drag kicks in and i would imagine the RS200 would be faster. I havent done a back to back test though.
Driving the RS200 on the limit is all about driving in a 4 wheelspinning slide. Its not going to respond to being driven conventionally by steering in and squirting.
Those who have driven AWD in the forests and understand what importance there is in setting the car into a 4 wheel powerslide then using power inputs to steer will understand what i am saying, its very hard to explain.

Thanks, but I was mainly concerned with the method Ford used to get the power to the front wheels. Do you have a diagram of the tranny layout? I can't think of any cheap or easy way to get this done, but looking at what has been proven to work can't hurt.

ROFLMAO
I dont think you realise what you are taking on!
Richard, sell him your spare gearbox m8.
question is, do you have $20,000 spare because that is what an RS200 gearbox is worth?

No, I want to know how ford did it as I KNOW parts like those are rare and expensive as hell. Not to mention I'd rather see someone else have a running RS200 than me have the gearbox. I do not pillage rare cars for parts for freak cars.

i suggest if you seriously want to do something like this you cantact a transmision specialist like Xtrack or hewland.
Mid engined AWD systems are very complex, unless you are an amazingly brilliant engineer you will fail miserably doing this yourself.
One of our competitors in our rally series built his own mid engined AWD car and it is very competitive. Its cost him an absolute fortune though. But being a brilliant engineer and Multi-Miliionaire he can get away with it.
He could have bought a WRC car for what that cost to build.
