That's alot of meat!!!
omahasubaru 02-09-2006 09:14 AM

Where'd you get that weight?

Posted weight or did you actually weigh them on a calibrated scale?

That is a pretty good deal for that wide of a wheel if they are truly that light.

Thats the weight the EVO guys are saying...I will post TRUE weight when I get them in...Understand the concern...

I guess EVO guys can't weigh. I talked to 5Zigen last year about the 17x8.5 GN+ wheel and those weighed 21.5 lbs each. Something is really odd if the 17x9.5 weighs only 16 lbs.

Thanks Kent....yeah it sounded a little fishy to me too...I will know when they come in and put them on the scales...

Bill
omahasubaru 02-09-2006 12:02 PM

Don't be surprised if they're > 23 lbs.

   and here I am thinkin..."even if they are around 20lbs...I'm still ok..."
skuttledude 02-09-2006 01:36 PM

Nice wheels. If they weigh that little, then I forsee those wheels selling out quickly.
wm07 02-09-2006 04:12 PM

I have a set of 18x8.5 GN+, each weights 20 lbs. IIRC. I doubt 17x9.5 is 16 lbs....
WgnWheel 02-09-2006 04:38 PM

buddies sti has 17x8.5 gn+ and they weigh nothing close to 16lbs........
Scooby South 02-09-2006 05:17 PM

:( shucks
Whats 17x9.5 and weighs 16 lbs???????????
The poo in your pants after you put 'em on the scales and they are 23#

Hope they aren't that heavy. They look good and are plenty wide. Just drill some holes in your rotors to make it up. :p

With this much conflicting information, I wouldn't put faith in any of it. Put them bad boys on a scale in front of your own eyes and make the judgement call there. Anything else is Internet weighing, which might as well be Internet bench racing. :)

why is that odd? My buddy club P1 QF rims at 17x9 are rated at 14.5lbs or 13.8 on my bathroom scale...

to find a 17x9.5 that weighs 16lbs for under $400/rim is pretty awesome if it's true.
WRX8XB 02-09-2006 06:47 PM

it's odd b/c a smaller size of the same wheel weighed more.

Either way good luck Bill.

I want pics.

P.S. what are you doing with the other 5zigens you had at subie challenge? I know a MY05 that is looking for some pretty race wheels ;)
Scooby South 02-09-2006 07:12 PM

Thanks Guys...appreciate it....Time will tell...they are supposed to be here next week sometime...
According to my bike Scale that measure's in grams, oz's and Pounds say 16.7lbs bare.
It is odd if a 17x 8.5 5Zigen GN+ weighs 21.5 pounds and a 17 x9.5 of THE SAME WHEEL weighs 16 lbs. It has nothing to do with what the Buddy Club P1 QF weighs in any size.
that thing is hot!!!

nope...I might still be using them...if the "weight" difference is what you guys are saying...then the others will go on sale...;)...
