so i wanna paint my rs...
ive come to the conclusion that if im going to enter my car in shows(something i really really want to do) it cant have dings all over it. and since it has dings all over it i figure i might as well paint the whole car. so since i wanna paint the whole car there is no point in keeping the stock color......so help me out folks....what color do you think an "oldschool" 2.5RS would look good in, i personally was thinking something along the lines of the WRX silver(its more silver than silverthorne but i wont have to paint under the hood cuz it already matches) but then agian ive always been a fan of steel blue mica, i just dont like how clear sidmarkers stick out like sore thumbs. i also love white but i dont like that its a stock color. only thing with straight silver is that its kinda boring, i want people to know the car was resprayed with a non stock color but i dont want to stand out like an ass. any and all suggestions are welcome.
thanks!
Nate
p.s. im keeping the car on the stock my99 wheels but im going to powdercoat them, black, gunmetal, or goldish bronze, i need help with that too:rolleyes:

Imola Yellow... (Audi S4 color)
Nagaro Blue... (spelled it wrong but the new M3 blue color)
Or, whatever silver the new M3 CSL is... that color rules

Plain old rally blue looks good :) Only the 98's had a variant of it, and I just saw one this weekend at the TSD rally, and boy did it look good... (I want my L painted Rally Blue Pearl!!!)

i would have to with Kostamojen...go with 555 Sonic blue...otherwise known as WR blue...coolest looking blue... and if you're worried about sidemarkers standing out look into some color coded markers...the ScoobySport WRX has blue sidemarkers looks superclean and still cool...good luck with your project

I've seen a PEARL WHITE GC8 before... omg... at mornings you don't really notice it, but omg... at night it glows like a pearl, so like a light blue under different lighting... very very very very cool...

Kosta said 98 blue. Isn't the sonic blue & wr blue the same as the "New Age WRX" blue? If it is, I think those colors are different. I'd suggest the "New Age" blue, dark gray, or a bright yellow. Maybe you should get an original color like a dark gold, pink or chameleon. Be original! :D

Thanks for all the responses so far, pearl white and gray colors are definitely something to consider, as much as I love the WR blue it looks too much like stock for me so that's a no go and I really really love s4 yellow but with the way I drive that screams "pull me over" thanks again and keep the colors coming.
thanks,
Nate
p.s. what do you guys think of wrx silver with a blue steel mica pearl? im going to see if a paint shop can even make that and if they can i think it would look pretty cool.

I saw the most amazing color on a brand new Volkswagen Passat this past week. I have no idea what it's called, but it was a VERY shiny, deep gun-metal gray color with just a little bit of a blue hue. It's kind of hard to describe, but it definitely grabs attention! Picture the nimbus gray on the audi TT above - this color was slightly lighter, and reflected blue hues.
This color was a perfect match with the new chrome trim and alloy wheels on the latest Passat design. I would have to say that if VW's 4Motion cars didn't start at $27K, I would probably be driving a Passat rather than a Subaru (once you go AWD, you never go back).
If anyone happens to know what this color might be called, please post!

OK if i missed it i am sorry.
How about the copper color of a Volvo C70 coupe. The same color that was on the car in the movie THE SAINT.
I saw this color on an L that was converted to an RS.
LET ME TELL YOU, this was just about the hottest looking color i have ever seen on an Impreza. I was extremely jealous of it even though it was a 1.8.

if you're gonna show it
you're gonna have to go w/ the chromilusion crap
the stuff wins shows
it's that simple
plain paint doesn't do it
but get it in a good combo, don't go green/maroon

My vote: white with about 3-4 coats of a midnight-blue pearl coat on top, or else black with 3 coats of a baby-blue pearl coat on top.
I think the coolest looking NSX I've ever seen was a very dark purple with several layers of gold pearl on top. It looked utterly majestic.

Two points:
1) Color shifting paints DO NOT win shows because they show off EVERY imperfection of the car by highlighting it with another color - that tiny door ding is now a different color.
2) In response to questions why colors look different in the pictures, it's possibly the lighting, but more likely the camera/film/developing that's causing variances in color. Digital cameras have color balance options as does your monitor. The same for a scanner transferring photos to a computer. And even two different films developed at different times and places, or on different paper will all look different. My last job was at a photolab - nothing sucked more than trying to match color to pictures developed at another lab.
