jcan0045 11-06-2006 08:57 PM

to debadge or not to debadge
04' sti with OZ rims. exhaust. should i debadge?
nicmowrx 11-06-2006 08:59 PM

everyone should debadge...just my opinion.
jcan0045 11-06-2006 09:00 PM

what should i debadge? the subaru. wrx. sti. and the subaru tecnica international sticker on doors? the STI on the front splitters or what?
SubiePilot 11-06-2006 09:05 PM

I just took of the 'SUBARU' across the back of the trunk. It looks a lot cleaner imho. I left the WRX and impreza badge

jcan0045 11-06-2006 09:13 PM

would it look good if i took all the badges and stickers other than the STI on the grill and the STI on the back trunk?
jcan0045 11-06-2006 09:14 PM

also does anyone know how to do a DIY mod on your grill?
SubiePilot 11-06-2006 09:22 PM

That is a personally decision. Just take one off at a time and see if you like it.

jcan0045 11-06-2006 09:29 PM

thank you subie pilot.
only1agam 11-06-2006 11:02 PM

if i were you debadge everything, except leave the STI badge by the keyhole then put the impreza badge underneath that.. IMHO
SteamboatGeoff 11-06-2006 11:32 PM

Anyone with suggestions on the best way to debadge??? Any tricks of the trade so to speak?

It also looks as though the main Subaru badge on my trunk is riveted through the trunk itself?!?! Looks like I would have to fill this hole if I took that one off?
dropmech 11-06-2006 11:38 PM

depends on if you plan on auto-x'ing your car. Some classses, like ESP, require the badging to remain on.
nicmowrx 11-06-2006 11:50 PM

leave the sti stuff. lose the subaru stuff.

What year is your car. 05 and earlier is just stuck on and a hair dryer and some floss will get it off. The 06/07s are a little different, don't think you can take off the emblem without leaving holes.

word...
PrettyRexx 11-07-2006 11:12 AM

i'm going to tackle debadging mine today. anybody have a ballpark number on how long it'll take for just the "subaru"? just curious.
STix66 11-07-2006 12:38 PM

yes the STi is a friggin rolling billboard.
Lose the badges but if you must, keep the sti in the front and back.
tasq 11-07-2006 12:40 PM

Its your car, do what you want.
i'm going to tackle debadging mine today. anybody have a ballpark number on how long it'll take for just the "subaru"? just curious.
I did mine this weekend. Takes 30 minutes including lots of polishing to get the glue off. Heat with a heat gun, floss pulls the badge right off. I used tar/bug remover to get rid of the remaining adhesive, worked like a charm.

My 2.5RS badge was a lot more work, since it was much bigger. That one took about an hour.

Debadge kicks ass!
007WRX 11-07-2006 02:47 PM

If you have an sti, leave it on. You payed all that money main as well leave the badge so people arnt like "Is that a WRX?, i dont see any STI badges"
PrettyRexx 11-07-2006 04:13 PM

just got done debadging teh rex. :D the hairdrier and floss worked well, i just had trouble getting the residual adhesive off... i finally found some paint cleaner junk from the 80s with a cancer warning on it. i do not advise this, however, it worked brilliantly.
FlyingFishSandwich 11-07-2006 07:43 PM

Debadge, but be careful if someone else owned the car before you. You might end up having to repaint the whole trunk if they had it repainted from an accident and didn't remove the badges.
civilone 11-07-2006 09:28 PM

Every car in my house is debadged. hehe^
nxwrxfx 11-07-2006 09:38 PM

Debadge your trunk and then sell your badges on the For Sale forums!

My old badges sold in literally minutes...
What other Suby mod actually puts money BACK into your pocket??
MartinD 11-07-2006 09:39 PM

take it off, take it all off :)
Mr_Hox 11-08-2006 12:51 PM

I'll be debadging the Subaru letters on the back of my 04 WRX tomorrow!

So, DO EET!!
Bbasso 11-08-2006 01:37 PM

A naked car is a cool car :P

I think that would look pretty nice. Completely badgeless looks naked...even thought mine is badgeless i'm trying to look for some tape to get the WRX back on.:furious:
radio-flyer 11-08-2006 06:29 PM

im plannin on debadging my 03 wagon but i also have that rubber strip on top of the back bumper that i want to remove. anyone know if this is going to be possible or would it be too risky?

without a doubt
AutomagicWRX 11-09-2006 10:07 AM

Wow they all look great. I just purchased my 05 rex last week, so you can imagine my hesistance to go for this mod. However I just wanna know is there really any possible way to **** up while doing this? For example, will the hair dryer method damage the paint if its left on for too long? Also anyone know a "famous" brand to remove the glue? Such as Goof off, or something such as that?

Again, beautiful cars guys.
SpoolinPA 11-09-2006 10:44 AM

mmm have to debadge for sure....its like asking how do you like your women....
06 Scooby 11-09-2006 11:06 AM

debadge that pig... fishing line and orange oil or "goo gone" "goof off"...use some elbow grease then wax it when your done... :)
imprezaowner27 11-09-2006 11:06 AM

This was the first thing i did when i got my impreza....

lets face the facts...i own a 2.5i, no the wrx or even close to an sti, but believe it or not most people are idiots and have confused my car with the sti they see on tv or online....

why? because they are idiots

but debadging got me alot of respect i didnt really need or want, but it just makes the car look cleaner....and i loved the look on my moms face when i showed her the car, and she couldnt figure out what it was

THE TRUNK on the 06, the subaru symbol is held in place by 2 holes, so i wouldnt recommend taking that off, unless you are prepared to repaint your trunk and fill those holes in
Mr_Hox 11-09-2006 06:10 PM

Just finished doing mine!

Few little tips:
- Heat each letter for one minute.
- Use floss to gently 'saw' through the adhesive backing.
- After letter is removed, heat remaing adhesive for another minute.
- Use credit card to scrape remaining stuff off. (Slow and steady, try to roll the adhesive into one big glob. Then say bye bye!)
- With whats left, use Turtle Wax Bug & Tar Remover (or similar product), allow to sit on remains for another minute.
- Use terry cloth to get the rest of it off.
- Wax to seal, and enjoy!

Takes no time at all, and higly recommended.
AutomagicWRX 11-09-2006 09:29 PM

Going for it tomorrow! Will post before and after pics afterwards.
