top speed on the straight at summit point?

What do you think your top speed (in a wrx) is before you jump on the brakes for turn 1? I think I was around 120, but I could carry more speed through turn 10 next time.

125+ in my ITR :)

around 120 mph. I short-shift into 4th before turn 10. I also could brake later before turn 1...
coulda, woulda, shoulda (again) :p

About 118 or so on RE92s and brakes I didn't trust after about 2 laps. :) That was in my sister's bone stock WRX wagon.
In the Legacy, about 105mph or so. At that point I gotta shift to 5th, so acceleration is done. :(

You ought to be able to see 120-125 without too much trouble, much more than that makes 10 and the breaking zone into 1 pretty uncomfortable...

126-128 , on street tires and stock chip/boost/turdblower, etc.

Sorry to bump this thread, but a friend of mine said he hit 155mph top speed in a 2007 Audi A4 Quattro 3.2 V6 from a few years ago at Summit Point. This was stock. Is this possible?

Probably not. I ran a 1:20:XXX at Summit in my WRX and my straight speeds were in the low 140's.

Good one, you deked me into reading a 7 year old thread. Nice

um, Duncan's car was FAAAAAAAAR from stock.
IIRC it was hydrid engine, forged pistons, some kelfords, FP green....or something like that.
Lots of handling, braking and tire width too.

Not even remotely possible. I've hit upper 130s in my CTS-V (as seen here), which has ~30hp more than the stock 400bhp. Your buddy's car weighs ~100# less than mine, and has ~180hp/180ft-lb fewer than mine. That math does not add up to 155 at Summit. I managed ~118mph or so in my sister's bone stock '02 WRX wagon when I took it to Summit.
Just to beat this one to death, because your buddy's claim is so preposterous, here are some numbers to compare:
'05 CTS-V - power-to-weight ~8.8#/hp - 137mph
'02 WRX - power-to-weight ~14.3#/hp - 118mph
'07 A4 3.2 - power-to-weight ~15.5#/hp - 155mph

Well, I greatly appreciate all the responses. There's not much else I can do except let him believe what he wants to believe. I read that the Audi Driving Experience had a lot of Audi A4s set to KPH, so he may well have been reading that. :) But he insists it was mph. Ah well. :)
| mav1c | 09-14-2011 07:36 AM |
Your friend is full of it, or his speedo is wayyyy off. If I get a really good run out of turn 10 I can just hit 130 in the STI.
| Element Tuning | 09-15-2011 04:22 PM |
Probably more like 115 MPH. I don't pay much attention to my speedometer regardless but in my 500 HP Time Attack car which ran a 1:14.4 at Summit might hit 155 MPH.
| WilliamG | 09-15-2011 04:37 PM |
Yep, I'm convinced at this point. :)

I typically don't see 155 even in cars like GT3s and Z06s at SP. Your friend is wrong.

100mph in a corolla, 115-120mph seems reasonable for a stock wrx.
| biknman | 09-20-2011 10:15 AM |
If I remember correctly 137mph is the best my datalogger has recorded in my 03 WRX on Summit's main and 115mph on Jefferson. The only thing that is stock is the trans gear ratios. Note it's not street legal but rather a dedicated 400+hp hillclimb TT race car with huge brakes and under 2700lbs. :-)
