2-1/16" Autometer gauges wont fit into a stock factory housing. the housing itself underwent serious modification to fit the
2-1/16" gauges, not to mention the clear lexan faceplate. all the plates, back mounting plate and cage were all custom cut/drilled to size.
yeah, the gauges that you can get from the factory are 45mm(which are quite small in my opinion. also, not to mention a $550 price tag/not including install.
mine = $215 total

yes sort of, i have templates for back plate, front lexan plate, install pics and instructions of vaccum hose tap, install pics and instructions of oil pressure sending unit (including how to do the tap).
the only thing i don't have is the way i made the spacing of the gauges flush between the housing to clear lexan faceplate. you need to dremel the bottom front and side inside edges. also i had to use plastic spacers from a hardware store along with screws, etc. i also had to cut the metal cage the housing came with, and drill new holes to secure it and the pod to the cage/dash.

yeah, the clear lexan face plate and the four black allen wrench screws really give it the custom trick look.
yes it is a center channel speaker for surround sound. i have a panasonic receiver and it has a 5w center channel output so i bought the center channel speaker.
the next highest receiver had the center channel swing out speaker on the receiver, but i thought it was just something that would break to easy.
only new CDs use the capability, like the new Bizkit cd, Crazy town, etc. and of course DVDs, but i dont have a DVD player.

oh, i cant forget to mention to get Bankheist's blue light Instrument panel kit.
i used his kit for the instrument panel, and changed my gauge lights to blue (using Autometer blue rubber bulb caps), and the climate control area the same way. it looks soooo good, almost an indiglow/carribean blue, it is so sweet because everything matches IDENTICAL [img]http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smile.gif[/img]

First off, that looks great!
I'm going to be turbocharging the car in the next couple of months. Right now I'm in the process of taking care of those little things. I've already got the guage housing, but was wondering what people were using to mount the guages, then along comes this post. Right now, I think I'm only going to mount 2 Autometer Phantom 2 1/16 (boost and EGT), but I could probably use your instructions if I remember to cut just 2 holes.
I'd be really interested in getting some directions from you if thats alright.

Can you tell me how those Autometer gauges light up at night? Does the light come from behind the numbers just like the '99+ white-faced dash, or does it just light up the whole gauge surface?

Mine cost me about $15 + the gauges. Made it out of the stock dash tray. It even matches the color of the car! took me abouy 20 hrs of work. Oil press.,fuel press.,A/F RAT. All back lit in Blue ( I "Rally" love that Rally Blue) {Just panted the bulbs}

finally better pics of my custom gauge pack.
well here they are, what do you guys think of the clear lexan faceplate, i think this makes the whole package. everyone asks me if it is factory, and i say nope totally custom. also, it is less than half the price and everyone likes it sooo much better than the factory pic i show them also, because they dont beleive that it is custom.

Those are larger guages that can be found for much less money than ones that fit in the factory guage pack.
Do you have the design plans for this? I am going to need something like this soon enough.

here they are i just spent about 2 hrs doing this for everyone.
except for the templates for the mounting and front faceplate, those have to be faxed because when i scan them they do not remain the exact size they need to be. the templates have all the screw holes for the front 4 screws on them, so you can drill right through the top two holes in the front paceplate to get the holes into the gauge housing. Also, the holes for the backing/ mounting plate have the holes on them as well. let me know if you people need them.
you must remember this is "perform at your own risk," once you cut the housing there is no going back. i did this all without any instructions at all, and look how phat it came out. just use your imagination [img]http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smile.gif[/img] if anyone needs any more help just let me know.
**REMEMBER** to paint the backing/gauge mounting plate a color of your choice before you mount the gauges in it, i used black.
**NOTE** metal cage to mount in the dash may not look exactly as the one pictured, i could not remember exactly but it is pretty close i think.

3. after new holes are drilled into metal cage, resecure metal cage and place gauge housing to test fit and secure with screws, make sure holes are smaller than screws so you tap hole as turn screw.
now you are ready to tube and wire your gauges.
let me know of any pointers you guys have to make the instructions better.
this is a full weekend project if you have the gauges, housing, lexan $6 for 3 square feet and if you give a glass shop the templates for plates they well do the rough template then you just trim and drill.
the housing, plates, and putting everything together and trim, and running to hardware store in someone elses car took about about 7 hours.
the rest, signal taps, running wires and vaccum tube. about 16 hr.s
