metoo 06-28-2001 05:40 PM

Green!!!!

In my opinion, green would look terrible, especially with a red car. I thought about putting some under my car. I have white ones that I bought for the Silver Mustang that I traded-in. If you change your mind on the color, I will sell you my brand new set (2-3' tubes, 2-4" tubes, all the wires) for $100. Just let me know. White looks a lot better with any color car. Actually I like almost of the other colors, but not green.
KillerTHC 06-28-2001 05:45 PM

ok ok, so maybe green isn't the greatest choice but red is a hard color to work with. the only reason i want green is becasue of the stock green gauges. white seems a little plain, blue would look out of place, red would make my car too red, and pink is...well...pink, and purple is a possibility but im not putting purple lights on my car. therefore, green is the only color left.
Prog 06-28-2001 05:49 PM

honestly

blue would look MUCH better than any of those other colors...except maybe white.
Memnoch 06-28-2001 05:52 PM

Bwaahahaahahahah that is so 80's chicano. OYE ESSE

But seriously that is complete r-i-c-e man :(
KillerTHC 06-28-2001 06:00 PM

heres the problem.... im my opnion the r*cier the better! i live in San Jose CA, the aZn capital! everybody and their mother drives some sort of honda! i know using a subaru to create a r*ce rocket isn't exactly the conventional way but its what i've been given. don't get me wrong, i'd never take any honda over my RS. i just think my tastes differ from every member on this board. there's a fine line between r*ce and race.
Ghost 06-28-2001 06:12 PM

?

which one?.... explain me please!!

R-A-C-E?
R-I-C-E?

I don't understand?
KillerTHC 06-28-2001 06:17 PM

rice rockets are tite. so what if someguy decides to hop up his civic dx? so what if they want to put on body kits? it doesn't matter what other people think as long as you like your car. why is rice such a bad word on this board?
Danny5 06-28-2001 07:10 PM

Laws differ from state to state, but the general idea is that neon lights are considered *side* lights by many patrol officers. As a side marker, then you are forced to have only yellow or red as a color.

Luckily, both colors would look great with the Sedona Red Pearl.

In a court of law, you can argue that these lights cannot be viewed from the side of the vehicle, and show pictures to your point. It is NOT illegal to light up the ground under a car, and there are NO laws written that state what color that light would have to be. Keep in mind that even though the LAW doesn't talk about what color you can have under a car, a patrol officer will still consider the lights a SIDE light.

Worst case scenario, you get pulled over for having some other color than yellow or red, and have to go to court to dispute the case, which you will probably win.

Best case, you go with yellow or red and never have to worry about it.

Good luck to you, and make sure you post pictures!

[EDIT] Too many finger checks
KillerTHC 06-28-2001 07:13 PM

thank you! u formed ur suggestion in a way that it was constructive and highly informative. you are a god among men.... or something..... yellow....what a great idea! if i get them thats the color for me
RS2001 06-28-2001 07:21 PM

Go for it dude!. While you're at it, why don't you add strobes to your headlights and quickflash blinkers to your turn signals. Then you can hang a disco ball from your rearview mirror, stick a smoke machine in the backseat, and replace the floormats with mirrored tiles.

well, i have to say... I've seen it on a BMW couple years ago. It was blue, and at night, damn it was catching a lot of attension. Just remember you can't go out and have fun in the gravels anymore... :D:D
JC 06-28-2001 09:51 PM

NOOOOOO!!! Don't get yellow. You'll have the curse of ketcup and mustard. Get red it will look the best IMHO. I'm probably gonna do the same with blue or red.
Prog 06-28-2001 09:55 PM

heeh

might as well put a big "hi officer, im ready for my ticket now" sign on your back windshield :)

:D :D

j/k
Dori Dori 06-28-2001 10:47 PM

I don't think neon is 'ricey'. I just think it's not very 'impreza-ish'.
I wouldn't do it, but if your gonna, get the yellow.
gimpster 06-28-2001 10:49 PM

If you're going to do it, do red, not green. Red would look much better on a red car. As far as how they're wired, I would just take it to a car audio installer, they can wire them for you, mount them, and also put some protective wire mesh over the top of them. I've seen some cars that look really cool with neons, but it's not my style. Have fun, post some pics if you do it.
Folklorez 06-28-2001 10:51 PM

go with orange or red

The Fast and the Furious is all about r-i-c-e.
If you want that image, go for it.

it's your car, not anybody else's...
metoo 06-29-2001 01:19 AM

Yellow doesn't sound bad at all, but stay away from green. That smoke machine may have something to it. Have the smoke seep from under the car while the lights are on. It would look like an Impreza phantom.
Kostamojen 06-29-2001 03:43 AM

Theyre illegal in california

And yes, Rice is a bad word here on the I-club because we prefere cars that can go instead of cars just for show...
skeletor25rs 06-29-2001 04:44 PM

Those things wouldn't last five minutes the way I drive. Its your car, so what if people laugh at you:lol:

I used to have my entire exterior lit up with streetglow neon lights. I really liked it but since I got the turbo I dont wnat that extra attention. I broke one of my underbody kit lights and am waiting to get some money to replace it. Once I do, I'm brining all the exterior lights inside.
Whiplash 06-30-2001 12:09 AM

Go with ....

somthing that will go with the color your car. Red car, Id say go with red. Yellow wouldnt be bad though. I cant tell you how much under body neon sales have picked up at my shop since that movie came out. I have 3 cars monday that Im doing it to. Ones an Audi A4, and 2 2001 Celicas. All it takes is a movie to make something look cool....and poof. But as soon as a fad comes in, it fades away. I had neon on a stang I had back in 92 and it sure did catch looks. And as long as the bulbs were hidden, and only the ground lit up, I never had a problem with cops. But it wouldnt hurt to turn em off if you see a cop. :)
