Which taillights are best? (GC8)

My left is cracked anyway. I've been hankering for the red/white JDM for a while now, but a part of me wants altezzas. Not the clear/chrome ones, but the dark/smoke/black/carbon fiber ones. They actually look alright I think. Plus, I think it would blend in really nicely with my black car. And when you think about, the JDM's are like the "altezzas" of the GC8's because everyone has them (granted they look better than stock), but I'm digging these dark altezzas. They're not really even altezzas. They just have round lights. So which of these do you guys think would look best on a black car? There's a poll.
#1 Black, 2 Circles

#2 Carbon Fiber "Style," 2 Circles

#3 Gunmetal, dark chrome, smoke, whatever you wanna call it, 2 Circles

#4 Black, 3 Circles

#5 Carbon Fiber "Style," 3 Circles

*If you must flame, say something like this, "You moron! Altezzas suck! But If I were to get one of those, I'd pick #2." :) This took some research, but I think I've found all the dark variations available for GC8's. Thanks.

stick with the regular red/clear jdm

my opinions are this:
1) stay away from the triple lights
2) get a st of double lights crack em open and paint em the color of your car

all of those are disgusting. Just get regular tail lamps stock or the upgraded white / red ones without the orange. Those are Rice what u have just shown.

Dammit, did you read the post at all? Say, "Stick with the JDM, but if you get one, get ____." Got it? Ahh, nm, what do I expect from i-club...

 damn lemmings.... one person says no altezzas and all the lemmings of i-club, sorry nasioc, follow suit .... havent you ever heard of change....
i have all-red tails, i like to be different too... :D ... i have been considering the first set you posted, black with 2 circles.
and yes, if you use the same reason the altezzas are played out, everyone has them, then JDM's are also technically played out too.

taillights

i currently have a black WRX and i'm also looking for some new taillights. but i dont care too much for the euro look/altezzas unless they are in a way all black.
there was a guy on here that made some custom blackout looking taillights but he never replied to my emails or pms.
the carbon fiberlook is sweet tho i think since its more dark, but i like for my to look less noticeable or so...

I see you have a black car,in that case I'd say #1.
But only on black.
But only on black.

I really have to go with #6- none of the above :). Those tail lights would make the back of my car look like the back of the Spencer Gifts store I used to be manager of ;).

I'm leaning toward 2 circles vs 3, and black vs carbon. 3 is getting too busy in the rear end if you know what I mean. And I think the carbon might look shiny and weird and stick out like you sometimes see with carbon fiber hoods on black cars in the right light. So, right now, I'm thinking #1. I was thinking I could even smoke the white circle or the whole outer plastic to give it an even darker look. #1 looks like it's rimmed in chrome though so I might have to black that out too. I think I'll do it sometime this summer, maybe sooner. :) Keep casting your votes. :)
BTW, if anyone cares, these are all around $170-200. Also, here's an excellent write-up for anyone changing the taillights, no matter what taillights you change to. If you read these boards, good job Chris.

if you got money then maybe go for the denji's but they do cost $$$
although i never understand why "those" are "okay" and not the others?...is it because they are rediculously more expensive... ? kinda like the way any CF is rice, except a real STi wing cause its 1600? oh and its "tested"
if you ask me, those denji look more rice than the others, they are too busy, and those LED rings look silly, but i still stick with my point TOO EACH HIS OWN..

Ok, there were 7 threads containing the word denji on these boards. I checked all 7 and there were only 2 links with vendors and no prices. One was TSL-Motorsport in UK , but I don't see them there. The other was, uhh, I don't know what language this is and when you click on their british flag, it's just a faq page and their "e-handel" (I'm assuming this is like the checkout) is down right now, but it's a Swedish? vendor and the item is on their page. It costs 3987.50. That's not Euros, hah. Link . I found the Denji website and it doesn't list it. I'll post again if I find anything.

I like the JDM lights too but if I spend money on my car
I want people to notice the difference. If you are not in
to subarus you will never notice.
I plan on getting the Denji lights eventually if I get them
they will be painted body color.Even if it is a sin to paint
carbon fibre I think it would look better...

Argh, I still don't know how to quote right. But yea Zap, that's my opinion too. Subaru owners will be like, JDM, nice, but others will be like, uh, you spent what on what now? Heh.
And yea, I did the Swedish Kronor to USD conversion and those are $476.13. That's just a wee bit much for me to say the least, especially for taillights. I'm gonna get #1. It's under $200. I'll post pictures when I do it. Enough post-whoring for one night.

I'm curious to see what #1 looks like on your black car. I saw a car the other day with simular lights but with the plastic painted to match the car and it didnt look alteza-like anymore (which is mostly due to the chrome) However, that plastic does look cheap, and those 3 "holes" are out of place... (which seems to be one of the reasons why the Denji's are liked around here, cause they are simple in design and not cheap crapy plastics, nor do they have alteza chrome receced behind plexiglass)
| Dre2932 | 04-21-2003 02:33 AM |
The TYC's don't look so bad. I'm thinking of getting a pair for myself..

I actualy like the first set alot.
| quentinberg007 | 04-22-2003 02:13 AM |
it seems to me that all these go against the actual holes you are filling in the rear of the car. it is like putting a round peg in a square hole and hoping that the space around the light blends in with the body paint. i could see doing a whole GT-R taillight conversion (using round tails, with metal welded in, filling the holes, professionally done, and expensive), but these just don't... seem to fit...
but i guess the ones with the black housing would be the least offensive.. so go with those... carbon fiber is so played out (especially somewhere that it is completely not functional)
