Wide body 03 sedan part 1

WRXminion 12-04-2005 09:56 PM

Wide body 03 sedan
Alright, so I was driving home today from snowboarding... hit some ice and put my WRX into a snow bank... the damage is all body... front fende, driver side fender, drive side rear door (I think this can be poped out) and the rear fender...

all the damage is minimal and i think it can be fixed fairly cheap... but i'm thinking about putting on a widebody kit... sence i have to replace the fenders anyway.. most likly

I can't really find any by google, or search here... just trying to figure out how much more it will cost to do a wide body...
dubaru 12-05-2005 05:00 AM

i have been doing research on a widebody bugeye kits for a while now and it depends on taste.

aqua makes a wider front fender:

then theres the gimme gears:
http://www.gimmiegears.com/composites.html

then theres four star:

then theres the burn-up & l'aunsport:

i hope i helped you out somewhat...

Interesting.
The l'aunsport rear fender kit is nice, but what would someone suggest to do to make the front fenders complement the rears. I like the aqua fenders but the fitment looks ok.

I ask because I'm very interested in doing a widebody very soon.

aqua fenders are discontinued for the bugeyes.
wrxss 11-06-2006 05:58 PM

^ Damn that sucks. So are there any front fenders that can replace stock to compliment the l'aunsport rear fenders for bugeyes?

Here are pics of l'aunsport rear fenders for those that can't figure out the links...

I think these are aqua front fenders(NOT SURE), but the rears are l'aunsport

they need to be molded on the rear doors i dont like how they look "stuck on"
FWD WRX 11-06-2006 08:18 PM

a 04-05 front end chargespeed widebody conversion would not cost that much more..

the rear fenders should go up to the top crease and you should just shave the rear door handles... that would look the best in my oppinion

or they needed to make 2 door bugeyes and peanuteyes and be done with it :D
wrxss 11-06-2006 10:00 PM

Yea the rears definitely need to be molded to the body, which I would do if I do decide to do it. But no one has answered my question yet, does anyone know of any front fenders (replacement fenders) that will accent the l'aunsport rear fenders?

I am not a fan of 04-05 front ends, I actually prefer the bugeye front end so doing a front end conversion and doing a Chargspeed widebody is definitely not something I would consider. Plus I honestly don't care for how the Chargespeed widebody looks. It's nice and all but definitely not my style. I'd rather leave the car with stock fenders than ever imagin wasting my money on the Chargespeed widebody.

the fenders on the silver wrx are also luansport. aqua isnt rounded like that, its more square..
living4surf 11-06-2006 10:41 PM

chargespeed also makes a wide body kit though it is fairly rice

Not a fan of the WRC widebody for my car. I wanted something that retained the stock front and rear bumpers. I like the look of my car now with the lips etc... I added, I just want to be wider so I can stick some meaty tires and wider wheels. 8.5" doesn't cut for me I want at least 10.5" wide.

decodeddiesel 11-07-2006 04:16 PM

Do the L'aunsport front fenders mate up to the sock bumper cover?

edit: with minimal modificaion I should say....
wrxss 11-07-2006 04:19 PM

^ It looks like it doesn't effect the stock bumper at all. It molds to the quarter panal right above it.

world one performance still lists them on their site...check with them...maybe they still have a set laying around..
Brainchild Customs 11-07-2006 09:52 PM

many places have them listed still. feel free to try and order a set, but i assure you they are not in production. i waited 8 months for a set and found out the hard way. if you're lucky someone may have a set sitting, but i wouldnt bet on it.

There are a lot of sites that still have them listed. But it's worth a shot.

:( Those are the only fenders I considered. I guess the L'aunsports look ok too though.
wrxss 11-09-2006 12:29 AM

^ Agree.
I'm looking into the front and rear from l'aunsport they look very clean. The only downside is that I would have to buy another set of wheels. It's going to get pricey with labor/install as well. Plus I am planning on beefing up the performance a little more next season ;) . But I hope the body work will be done in the near future.

Can't wait to mod next season :D

Burn up looks damn good! I like those a lot, but who can we import them through? I can't find anyone that sells them and that are credible to get them quickly.

I believe Graham at Japanparts can get them. If they are not on his site, just e-mail him. I think he can get anything Burn Up makes, even if it's not listed on the site.

I think APR has one...
I think APR has one...
THe complete kit is not specifically designed for the '02-'03, but it will fit. I talked to the guys from APR last week at SEMA, and their own car with the '06 widebody is actually an '04-'05 model. They used the front rad support from the '06, and walla...

They said the same can be done for the '02-'03 models as well.

Not sure how it would work (or if it would work) if you only used their front fenders with the original '02-'03 front bumper though, as their bumper is wider.

Are you getting any money from your insurance?
honestly i dont think you should do it, especially not if youre going to pay extra for it just add some performance mods
Zapix 07-28-2007 08:33 PM

I would be very curious to know if the WRC style fenders from Burn-up match up with the stock USDM bumper. My 02 WRX has fender damage on both sides, and I'm trying to get an idea of how much I'm going to be spending to go through with my widebody plans. I'm going to need a new front bumper as well, but I would prefer to stay with the stock style to retain the foglights. If anyone knows more about the Burn-up kit, I'd love to hear it.
04ImprezaWRX 07-28-2007 09:06 PM

Im not trying to steal your thread but does anyone know if the Launsport Front and rear WIDE fenders for the 04 WRX work with the stock front and rear bumpers and the stock side skirts?
