WRC+ or other options

Since we've all been dumped by Speed (and SOA, If they wanted it,we would have it) I'm trying to figure out WRC+.
Do you have to watch the coverage live or can you catch it later?
Is your adverage cable modem connection good enough?
Is there any way to hook my computer up to my TV?
This is really sad. I can't be the only person in America that happened to be flipping channels, found the WRC, sat there mesmerized with phrases like "Holy *****!, Those guy are nuts!!" bouncing about my head. Here's the importaint part... I immediatly went and test drove a WRX and a few month's later BOUGHT ONE. Simple math...No watch WRC, no buy WRX. :(

I had WRC+ all last season and it was pretty good. The radio coverage was pretty cool but, it did seem like it was offered free almost every rally anyway. I probably wouldn't join wrc+ for that alone.
The video footage is great. Its roughly edited footage with no announcer or even sound at all sometimes. Lots of clips you would never see on Speed. They usually had a AM collection, PM collection, drivers quotes, and close calls every day. Probably about an hour of footage from each day if you added it all up. I liked the raw footage but, people looking for something similar to the SpeedTV show might be disappointed. No music, Nicky, or colorful local flavor.
You also get some real time split times java app but, its not that great. They cut to the next stage before all the drivers are even thru so, you never get to see what actually happend. When the cars are starting in reverse order it really sucks as all you get is the PWRC and restarts all day long. Cars tracking go down all the time and not every car is even tracked sometimes.
They really need to work on it. They should get the one Dakar had. That was badass.

I was looking at the wrc+, but when I click purchase I never actually see anthing that will allow me to do so. I get the little preview but no links or form to fill in. I have rocks in my head so anyhelp would be great.

leak,
I only have "calculate how much you are paying in your own currency" I will look into it more after the weekend(I am betting the Norton security is messing with something, it seems to do that occasionally), I am moving so would miss the Monte Rally anyway.
thanks

They need the wrc back.
They also need to show V8 supercars, british touring cars, DTM and other various badass programs at good primetime hours during the winter when Nascar isn't dominating the airwaves.
Not ghey ass shows like pinks or texas snailtrails.

I have loved world rally for decades, but for most of my life I never even saw any video. With no internet back then, the only way I even knew who won a rally was maybe a small article in a foreign magazine.
When there were rumors that Subaru might import the WRX to the USA, I was skeptical....... I figured an average joe like me could never afford one anyway since it would probably be a very limited, high cost import (ala Toyota All-Trac or Audi quattro turbo)......... imagine my shock when I saw ROWS of WRX's parked at my local dealer! Sedans, Wagons, even Automatics for pete's sake!
In my opinion, Subaru DESERVED my business, and I am a happy owner.
Having the WRC on Speed was just icing on the cake, and it is incredibly sad that there arn't enough people in the USA that care about it. If I can pay extra for premium movies or soccer or whatever on pay channels, why can't I pay for WRC!!??
Subaru....... HELP US!

What are the other options?
Rally-live - do they have any videos
Torrents - sound like they may be low quality...
Get a good friend in Europe to burn you a DVD of Eurosport coverage.

All the stupid isht they air on the multitude of sports channels we have in the US, and we can't have a motorsport that's very popular in many other countries. But yet we still have celebrity poker on half a dozen channels, or women's billiards or something else equally as boring.

Do I have to be home and sitting in front of the pc all day watching the coverage, or can I record it somehow and watch it later?

I'm listening to WRC Rally Radio now, having signed up for WRC+ last night. It takes a bit of studying to figure it all out, but you'll get to understand it soon enough. It even works on Firefox.
I'm using a typical cable Internet connection now at work, but I'm sure it would work on my fixed wireless at home (which runs faster than cable or DSL). Listening to Rally Radio is just like listening to any other streaming audio. Open "Rally Live" (on the WRC site, not rally-live.com) to see live splits from the current stage, which update every 2 or so minutes, telling you who's in stage, what their times are relative to the first car on the stage, at each split. Doesn't tell you if they went off or when they hit the stage. (I would like to know that, so if you see someone +1 min etc ahead of someone who started before them, you know they passed them, etc.)
The other beef I have with Rally Live is that it constantly moves to the currently "live" or active stage - even though the previous stage isn't yet finished. Maybe it won't make as much of a difference later in the season, but right now, with Gronholm and others running way down (something like 15th car in stage or so), the system moves to the next stage before showing Marcus' time. The solution I've done is to click on "Overall Standings" at the bottom, then change the resulting page to "Stage Times", and keep refreshing (F5) the stage I want to know about.
I'm not at all concerned about dropping Speed, even if they do end up getting WRC back. I've learned more about the rally tonight "watching" on the net than I would get from a 90 minute program on Speed, and I'm sure I'll be able to come up with video soon enough from the usual suspects, so to speak, plus some of the places like WRC+ and rally-live.com.

The description of what WRC+ offers is earlier in this thread. As for being cross platform, not so much. I could not get the streaming audio to work under Linux using Mozilla, Firefox or IE running under emulation. Had to use my one remaining Windows system to listen in. You might have better luck with the MAC, but just a heads up.
I'm curious if anyone has subscribed to both WRC+ and Rally Live and can compare the two.
I like the live audio feed or WRC+, but it seems like if you miss something (What was the blockage after car 11 on stage 1, how/why did Loeb/Duval go off, etc.) you are hosed. I like the write ups on on Rally Live as its easier to jump in and out and still follow what is going on.
It seems like (as someone who is not subscribed to Rally Live) that WRC+ provides more video coverage but RL has more photos. Is this correct?
Just trying to figure out what service to go with for the rest of the year. :D

WRC+ is ok. I'm disappointed in the video clips, it like they are cut off. You watch a clip of interviews, and then they cut if off it seems half way tough. You would expect more for 3 dollars a month. Speed has really left us high and dry this year.

Unless there's a lot of content post-rally, WRC+ isn't impressing me. It's basically rally radio, a few 30 second round up videos, a few interviews and some of the telemetric head to head things they had on Speed last year.
Better than nothing I suppose, thank god for the interweb. :(

:([/QUOTE]
That is exactly what heppened to me. Exactly word for word that is what happened to me, now mine has 130,000 miles and i'm ready to get a new one.
but how many times does this happen per year? I don't know, except for this year it will be ZERO times, because its not on tv.

well...speed is worthless to me now.
can i tell my provider to remove speed? I don't even want it. I'm really pissed. WRC is the entier reason I got my tivo...so I could record all ther aces they show at 3am because they aren't populating the airwaves with nascar bullshiz.
