A legit replica. :D And $15 to ship that huh? Still though... $35 aint bad at all...
| Needles | 09-02-2004 11:41 PM |
Not bad.A bar is a bar.It does the same thing as the real one.
| Brad Pittiful | 09-02-2004 11:48 PM |
remember you get what you pay for

yeah, and that is a bar.
| Hummer | 09-03-2004 12:27 AM |
I got the same kind of deal. $56.94 shipped for front and rear. They fit and work great.

Umm...I'm not sure how much I'd trust a $50 strut bar. You usually get what you pay for, but there are always exceptions. I dont see it ruining your car, but it might just be $50 decoration :)

I concur, a bar is a bar any way you look at it.

W3RD. I bought a couple cheap arse front and rear strut bars off ebay for $49 shipped a while back. They were a great investment. Cheap mod, highly effective.

A $50 decoration is right. Due to extreme chassis stiffness in conjunction with strut location in the body, strut bars do very little for the '02 and newer Impreza chassis. The older chassis did benefit from it, but the current chassis does not. (Wagon rear is the only possible exception; that one's debatable.)
It's neat for show but functionally unnecessary. :)

The rear bar in a wagon is not debatable...it makes a difference and if you want to come up I will let you drive and you can prove it to yourself.
The front...well..ok...you got me there. But it looks cool.

I've heard both yay and nay, and thus not having a wagon myself I refused to promote or down it one way or the other. :)
edit: As far as the front looking cool; to each his own. I'm not into adding weight to my car in order to look cool. :)

how much do u think they weigh?
| Subahaulic | 09-03-2004 06:15 PM |
Works well in my wagon--but the front is mainly bling.

Their generally pretty light. The Cobb rear strut bar for the 98 Legacy Outback is like 3-6 lbs I think.

i also found a $60 lower arm bar. It looks just the GTspec bar but its pink. Would this be worth the money? I'm skeptical about quality...

As long as a monkey didn't weld it and the metal isn't lead, it looks good to me.

I've not gotten what I paid for many times--particularly in the NASIOC "Private for Sale Classifieds".

Good fitment for me on both. It felt a little bit tighter in corners, a nice upgrade. It was a good investment at $50 for the set, god knows I've blown money on stupider stuff.
I'd recommend them.

I've got front and rear, I'm very happy with them, add that extra piece of rigidity I like. They also make great inexpensive X-mas gifts, bought 7 so far, no complaints, only smiles.

So the concensus from those who have them is that they are worth it and make a positve noticeable difference? I was thinking of getting some, but if they're no better than something for bling factor, I think I'll pass.
| rukkie | 09-07-2004 04:51 PM |
where can i get a wagon rear strut cheap? :D
| [emailprotected] | 09-07-2004 10:41 PM |
personally I wouldn't spend money on those... I'd upgrade the swaybar to a thicker or adjustable one and then upgrade the endlinks... but that's just me... Oh and I'd throw on an ALK...
I have an upgraded rear swaybar and it made a world of difference as opposed to the strutbar...

I bought 2 sets one for mine and one for my girl RxyGrl, they both fit great no modifing or adding washers. It does a little but dont expect to get alot. If you want to have more stiffness then yeah go with the swaybars but the Strut bars not the Struct bars help a little. So dont believe the people that never bought them and dont like Ebay because they got what they paid for.

I think they should all fit. I was told that Cusco was the only one made that went on with no problems. The others you have to do some modding. but you did say cheap huh :D Laters Mikal

I got these bars too from ebay. The only complaint I have is that it was a somewhat tight fit. Other than that it was :D I don't know how much each weigh, they probably weigh 3 lbs, mostly the tower plates. I think that the rear did something, it snaps a little more in the rear. Front is more of a bling thing, but if you autocross or track, a front bar is probably a plus. Many guys I know that track, use a front with coilover to keep everything in shape. The front bar by the way is stiff as hell, it is like trying to bend a piece of 2 inch steel bar with your bar hands, it doesn't move.

Genuine stuff usually fits tighter atleast the front bars especially take offs. A bar is a bar it will do something if you push your car hard enough. I personally got legit front and rear STi bars, the front is a motha to put on.
Btw GC's rule.

Does anyone know if the ebay ones fit for sure on the rear strut for the wagons?
| iorikun | 10-20-2004 01:55 PM |
From what I read, the rear strut bars from Ebay will fit the wagons. Keep in mind that the rear bars are not as rigid (I can wiggle them with my hands if I try hard enough).

Yup, fit on mine with no problem... as for the shaky thing, you may wanna see if you have it on right, mine was rock solid, I could feel a bigger difference with the rear vs. the front ones.
