the front

Is that yours? Does it match well?
| Prog | 07-30-2001 04:57 PM |
well
to be honest, it doesnt match the rest of the interior/dash ...
unless the pic is deceiving and the seats arent nearly as light as what it looks in the pic... and it seems like you killed the seat bolsters.. or at least flattened them a lot :(

I'm guessing the reason the side bolsters look less dramatic is due to extra padding in the seat. I'm not very fond of the look, but I suppose if you really want a leather interior, it's a pretty good deal.

Katzkin's correct color match for the impreza is "charcoal". The secondary color for contrast is "Lt.Grey" or for more differance in contrast the "Smoke" Your color above looks like "Dove Gray" but blue.
You can get the Kit for $599 (pre MY02) direct from Katzkin in Montebello, CA
Get the red French stitch to match the wheel and shifter.
They can make up any combo of other colors they have from their web page also. Even Purple. They also have heated seat option.
Your shown is the "Gathered panel" with two pleated panels on the seat back and bottom. The other style is the "flat Panel" which has three panels that are not pleted in place of the two pleated panels.

I could have gone for a direct match but I love cadet blue so much, All the new compact Bmw and Benzs are coming with pastel color leather interiors. If you don't like it's cool stick to the fabric. Hey some people even like clear plastic covers on there sofas

Cool, I just checked the color samples I have here at my house and the Cadet Blue looks about 15 shades darker than your pic. Must just be the lighting. I held the Leather color sample up to the door panel and it looks like a good contrast. Must just be the pic's that make it look so light and washed out.
Pacific-Blue would look killer on a blue car.

for me its not so much that i dont like the color, it just doesnt match the rest of the interior (doors, dash, steering wheel, console, glove box area)
usually when a car has light colored seats, the rest of the interior is light colored too...
but hey..its your car ;)

does katzkin make whole seats? or is it just covers?? also can they make it vinyl and not leather, and umm who knows a place where i can get vinyl covers for the RS??
| Prog | 07-30-2001 09:24 PM |
why vinyl? that looks even cheaper than cloth...thats like going back to the early 80's japanese cars..
| david2z4 | 07-30-2001 09:27 PM |
Katzkin are slip over covers. You remove the stock cover and put on the Katzkin over the foam of your seats.
They have plastic clips on the front and need a few hog rings on the back of the seat bottom. The back zips on the buckets.
The seat surface that contacts the passengers and driver are leather but the side panels and back are vinyl or synthetic.

My cousin's Prelude has that kind of blue and white as his interior. I shuddered at the sight. Sorry, just my opinion that it's a wussy blue.

I've had the charcoal gray Katzkin for over a year and it's holding up very well. My wife's Legacy came with gray leather and it's the same color as mine. I think it matches very nicely. Pics above

My friend has had Katskins leather in his '00 VW Jetta for about 8 months now, and I have to say that it is the highest quality, most comfortable, amd greatest looking leather that I have ever seen.

credit xtc - did you answer yet whether you installed the leather yourself?
david2z4 - Where did you get that pic of the charcoal/red stitch WRX?
both - How hard is it to install yourself? I checked one place that was a Katzkin installer, and they wanted like $1200 bones!!!

for BRP, go with black or charcoal leather with the inserts done in a blue that matches the outside of the car..
:D

I had mine installed for $850 total so the price was great although I offered to help the guy he refused but let me watch.
I had two tone on my CRV cadet blue and charcoal grey, I wouldn't sugest two tone on a wrx because you already got three different colors working.

well it wouldnt be three tone if one of the leather seat colors actually matched the rest of the dash :D ;) (like charcoal!)

Do the side airbags still work?
| IMPREZA GUY | 07-31-2001 06:45 PM |
hmmm how can i get a two tone seat without having to buy a new one, i just want a way to make my seats black with a yellow middle for the front and rear seats
| credit xtc | 07-31-2001 10:39 PM |
I wont know if the side air bags work unless I crash, Although most airbags blow the **** out of factory leathear covers so why not. katzkin will put any stripe or whatever you want only the crazy **** is non refundable.
| mykrrrr | 08-01-2001 05:06 AM |
Your SABs might not work since the airbag "pouch" has a crease in it where it opens. It's like your steering wheel airbag or the PAB.
I personally would be scared to use these covers on a car equipped with SABs.
Since I have a GC8 and don't have SABs I'd love to get the charcoal w/red stitching.

some leather places have kits specifically for cars with SABs, legacy GT's have factory leather (i think all of them do or maybe its the limited one) and they have SABs.. And they make kits that break away like your normal seat would.
So its definately doable..

Reminds me of the cheap ass imitation vinyl seats that I once saw in an 86' Plymouth Reliant.
