Stick with the aluminum, that thing is so light when i first saw the 06 sti in september i lifted it up with my pinky... CF isn't my style but if you want to do it then do it... I bet the aluminum hood is stronger in a crash tho, cf shatters...

Noone asked for your opinion of what you think of a cf hood. The question of this thread is are 2006 cf hoods availible, end of story.

The stock hood may be light, but it is very easy to ding/damage.

people seem to forget that these are japanese cars...
if the dude wants a carbon hood and wants to spend money to support the great aftermarket comunity than more power to him. that's why we are all here right? to enjoy our cars and learn from each other. the only thing that can be learned from bashing, is how many truely close-minded people there are in this world.
a carbon hood can be made to be lighter and stronger than the stock hood, but most of the carbon hoods on the market are chopped fiberglass with a carbon layer on top, or even a dyed fiberglass layer. a true well made light weight hood would cost well over 1000.

try Fiber Images, they usually have stuff before most other, they are a bit pricey but i used one of their hoods on my CRX and it was the cleanest lightest hood ive ever seen, and it was worth every penny.
dont pay attention to what other people say bro...you didnt buy the car for them, and unless they pay the bill on it, the have no right to say anything about it.

dude, he was just acknowledging the fact you wanted looks why do you jump on him?
as for opinions everyone has them. the more pissed you get and retort, the more opinions you will get. so just chill take it with a grain of salt and deal with opinions...its a public board.
you could always try getting in contact with cf companies and offer to be a guinea pig.

DUDE, he just wants to know if anyone makes a cf hood for the 06, and for any help on finding one. The rejects with their dumb opinions can go to the OT. Unless some one is asking for an opinion, otherwise its ok for him to be pissed off about everyones dumb as* opinions.
And in conclusion +1 for being a companies guinea pig.

If it's about looks why not just paint your hood black. In the end you get a lighter, safer and cheaper way of getting the ricer look. And yes if you are doing it purely for looks you are ricing your car- if you don't like the opinions of what your car is/will be then I recommend you try a different reality.

Opinion is just a perception, not a fact.
Since when do people not change things purely for looks?
Is buying new wheels rice if they don't weigh less, provide more width, and meet the approval of the 'official rice police of Nasioc'?
This person asked a simple, straightforward question.

wow...so all those people in the member's car gallery with c/f hoods are ricers....thats quite a call out.
| MF-DIF | 01-13-2006 04:39 PM |
If I could do it over again I would have stayed with stock. My car was backed into and the hood trashed so I decided to replace it with a VIS CF hood. The reason I say I would have stayed stock is most CF hoods, even the "quality" name brands, VIS, Seibon, etc...more often than not you will have some type of blemish in your hood. This is because each hood is hand laid. Your hood could have bubbles in the resin, small dents, waviness, etc. Some more than others. Don't get me wrong, I love the look, but if I look a little closer I can see the imperfections of the hood.

hmmmm... yea....
hahaah jk.. i just say that there are more mods to do before throwing on a cf hood... just like when someone throws on a chargespeed wing before anything else... some people say nice and some say rice while others say lower it and what not. So if this guy's sti is bone stock and has a cf hood, he will get bashed on just like every other car out there that does something before lowering it or whatever else other people may feel should come first. That's just the way life is. If you didn't want to get opinions about anything and feel that people should only give their opinions solely based on if the person was asking for it, then don't post it up on a forum.

Or... the unnecessary, unwarranted, opinionated posts that are meant to do nothing but demean could continue to be ridiculed by those with more sense than that.
He asked a question, and therefore the responses should have been related to that. Not a bunch of pricks trying to tell someone how to soend his money.

im pretty sure the question had already been answered, then the bashing proceeded to happen. im pretty sure no one has made a cf hood for an 06 yet. i do agree however that there are much better things to buy with the money thatd go into a hood. but if you really want carbon for looks only, i suppose you could go to www.cftype.com i think it is. they can wrap pretty much any part you want in cf. so there ya go, have fun.
