A nice looking engine bay part 1

A nice looking engine bay
I haven't been to many import car shows, so Im wondering what GC8 owners have done under their hoods to improve the look of the engine bay? Please post pics if you have done some work to improve the look of your 2.5 RS. I'm not looking for photos of GC8/STI swaps (dont bother posting), I'm looking for pictures of hoses, shine, wire coverings, etc. Where did you get those parts?

Would the red Samco radiator hose kit be rice? Are colored hose kits rice? What are your opinions on the matter?

I'm trying to really clean up my impreza, and want to do some cosmetic work under the hood which will help to maintain the value of the vehicle. One thing I like is the carbon fiber battery cover, and radiator covers I've seen available.

Thank in advance!

my wrx under hood is spotless if you want a pic let me know just to see , oh it's stock too
MikalsWRX 09-02-2003 11:00 PM

No the clored hoses arnt rice at all. They actually work and have a purpose. Rice would be if you used the colored wire loom on everything including your Hood prop rod. Laters Mikal

They grap better.

they don't grap better. I've used both, and haven't noticed one grapping better than the other.

If you want a hose that has better grapping ability than you should look at the ones that alfreidesq uses on his Evo...now those can grap.
SkirtBoy 09-03-2003 12:06 PM

How much grap would a woodgrap grap if a woodgrap could grap wood?
HekWRX 09-03-2003 12:09 PM

all your hose are belong to me!

I thought that was a typo!

Grap?

I plan on doing red Perrin radiator hosing, red anicillary hosing, black grounding wires, some carbon fibre pieces here and there, and some nice chrome pieces ;)

Not rice at all, hosing IS an upgrade.
SubEd 09-03-2003 12:38 PM

I have a c/f cover on my boost fluid reservoir. I think it was $35 (more or less). Do a search and you'll find some vendors.
Kaiser 09-03-2003 12:43 PM

Don't mistake that with blinker fluid, though. Did that once and it darn near killed my ET's. :(
-=C=- 09-03-2003 12:47 PM

Eclipse01 seems to have had the same issues Kaiser...
Oh boy I just got back from Pep Boys and they had some bad news about the rex while changing my boost fluid. They said I over-revved my kenuter valve within my boost fluid turbine and the only way to get it fixed is if I got some summer air in my tires so I did it and bammmmmmm!!! it was fixed
Well then you should go ahead and get hosed, if you haven't already.
SubEd 09-03-2003 12:55 PM

Swapping out all hoses is immensely popular in Canada. Hence the term "Hosers". Eh?
RallyOttawa 09-03-2003 01:00 PM

Nah... its the opposite. We refer to Americans as 'hosers'... i just never knew why. eh?

Does it have og?
huckedup16 09-03-2003 01:21 PM

With all this grapping going on I'm beginning to wonder how my tired would hold up against the severe grappage RallyOttawa brought into the thread.
HekWRX 09-03-2003 01:29 PM

hoses! Bah! The new big thing in Japan is OSMOSIS! I am telling ya' the new Honda S2300 has no hoses- all fluid transfers occur via osmosis through semi-permeable membranes.
Eric SS 09-03-2003 02:08 PM

The main thing I did under my hood to make it look better was add a turbo.
scottjua 09-03-2003 02:19 PM

sorry...but hahahahahahahahahahahahahahaa

this thread almost got me fired!!!

I dont think a stock RS had a problem with grappage under normal conditions. The blinker fluid reservoir needs to be upgraded first or all of the hose upgrades won't do any good.

My friend's cousin's girlfriends brother's uncle removed his hoses alltogether to paint them. His car ran better without hoses, so he just left it like that. It's got a really cool look. Nothing but metal under the hood. Also its faster since its lighter:devil:
RallyOttawa 09-03-2003 03:17 PM

Scottjua... how so?
scottjua 09-03-2003 04:27 PM

I kept cracking up and people started to wonder what I could possibly be working on that was funny... I work for a defense contractor...and they none fo them have a sense of humor or sense of branching out on other things besides work. ;)

funny how a little typo can go such a long way to making everyone get silly here...hence making me laugh. :D

My friend's cousin's girlfriends brother's uncle's nephew's girlfriend's cousin's friend had his RS turbo'd, and forgot to put in the boost fluid. The results? Not pretty!
TimStevens 09-04-2003 09:40 AM

After you guys get hosed, what do you do to protect your oilcovers

Well, I got my parnets to watch my oilcovers while I run to Pep Boys, for blinker fluid & muffler bearings, but my 300 lb friend couldn't sit in the front seat, so I made him grap on my tired, so he wouldn't break my suspension.
JGard 09-04-2003 10:10 AM

I like washer nozzle LEDs.
billzebub 09-04-2003 11:08 AM

I was gonna get some of those washer nozzle LEDs, but a friend overloaded his post-coital interferrance relay with those things, so now I'm not so sure. Any ideas how to over-compensate for this and the excess HP drain due to running depolarized brakes?
RS_NW 09-04-2003 11:46 AM

This might be a bit obsessive, but all those little golden brackets that hold all the stuff together. You can take a dremel and some polish and they will polish up bright as chrome. You should also PM (Patrick) Vostok7, he just started up a company (Iron Mountain Performance) that fabs pretty engine dressup parts. I'll post pictures of my engine bay as soon as I get a chance.

holy crap, a serious post?!?
RallyOttawa 09-05-2003 01:59 AM

Thanks Erik... I tried sending a PM, but the username bounced back. Is that the exact spelling of his username?

Thanks
