Advice on What carbon fiber wing to go with
Hey guys what's up?
I am getting a few things repaired on my 02 wrx through the insurance company and I need to pick out a new wing for my car.
My choices are to go wingless or buy any wing of my choice not exceeding $500 (I could pay the difference if it exceeds $500). I have been looking for a while now and I love the S202 style carbon fiber wing (replica or OEM) it's just that they are so hard to come by unless they are used.
Anyways I was wondering if anyone could give me any ideas on what carbon fiber wings I should consider for my car similar or completely different than the S202 wing.
I thought about wingless but I feel like I need something.

Any suggestions will be appreciated,
--Imran

I say carbon trunk or mines tunk lip. Thats what I have and love it.
If you did go with a carbon trunk panit the roof back. 2 tone is hot!

I dig the s202 wing :p
Audiomotive 05-03-2006 12:55 PM

I'm running the s202 replica wing it's nice but looks replica. I'm not too crazy about the plastic base covers and the finish in the clear is a little wavy. Luckily I painted most of it and just left a strip of CF showing but you can still se ethe waviness. I may have the body shop prep it more to get rid of the waviness. i also have the APR-GT200 wing. Very good quality just too wide for my tastes. I have it for sale if you are interested but I also painted that with a strip of CF showing.

I like the APR wing and that's what I am planning on getting after I save up some money to get an Autospeed catback. Look for Vostok 7's old bugeye. It was white, but it had the APR wing. Should give you a good idea of the look.

wingless or the mines, i also agree with painting the roof that'd be hot, especially on a silver car, or you can take your CF hood off and sell it and buy the silver CF trunk and hood, that silver CF is fricking bad a$$ :)

You read my mind. That is exactly what I was thinking of doing I just needed confirmation on the idea. The only question I had was if I should paint the roof black or is it possible to have the roof some how have a carbon fiber look. Of course I'm going wingless if I get the carbon fiber trunk lid. Any advice or suggestions are welcome.

Thanks

Thought about but not sure if it will flow with the look of my car. I've seen the S203 in full carbon fiber I like the look of that. What do you think of full carbon fiber S203?

Yea I'm not a fan of the replica either but the OEM ones are so hard to get plus they take forever to get, I can't wait that long because it's an insurance claim they might dick me because it will take a couple months to recieve. Unless I get a used OEM one but I haven't seen any for sale.

wingless cf trunk would look best on your car IMO, but if you are set on something go with the mines lip!

I wouldn't mind a wingless CF trunk lid, I was just wondering what I should do about the roof. Should I paint it black or is there a way to make it seem carbon fiber as well?
I think the syms wing...not sure. check JDM_addict's car. that one. soooooo hot.
The syms wing is $1200-$1400, and JDM _addict's wing is a replica of a syms wing that uses a Sti wing bottom half. I've seen that wing and considered it but the only problem I have with that wing is it sits very very verty high. The Sti wing is already pretty high and the syms replica wing that goes on top of the Sti bottom half looks at least 2" higher I don't know the exact dimensions but I don't like it for it's height. Plus you need a Sti wing to get the replica which I have but I have never been a fan of the Sti wing style (NO OFFENSE TO ALL THE STI'S OUT THERE)

Thanks for the suggestion though

According to the pictures of a real syms wing and JDM addict's wing they don't look the same. It appears his looks like every other replica I've seen but I could be wrong. Based on the pics his syms wing looks like he uses the bottom half of a sti wing and the insert I was refering to in the previous post. You be the judge.
I'm not knocking the authenticity of JDM addicts wing it could be authentic or not I still don't personally want that look for my car.

SYMS Wing

Pay attention the sides of the wing and how the real SYMS wing is one whole complete piece and JDM addicts wing looks like a top three piece and a bottom Sti piece.

PS- No one said anything about a authentic SYMS wing being a dream of mine, it might be one of yours but to each their own.

If EM=engine mods I have that pretty much taken care of (Next year will be even better). This work is all going to be done through insurance so I figured I should get a wing on their dollar. Plus I don't like the wingless look on my setup I don't know why, last year with my old wheels I didn't mind the wingless look at all but with the new wheels, lip, headlights, and hood it feels like there is something missing.

I definitely like the look of both of your cars, but the real S202 wing is very hard to come across. The replicas I have seen in real life aren't made that well in my opinion.

Jdm addict is running the top piece only.
I've seen this car in person.. i know..
I happen to know the person who started the replica also...
the replica is exactly the same as real one also.

I didn't know that. The picture I'm familiar with is what I thought a SYMS wing looked liked. Now I know what a SYMS wing really look like.

there is no such thing as a bottom portion of the syms wing...the picture of the yellow car on vivid's site isnt even a wrx....the real syms wing is simply a replacement of the upper portion of the sti spoiler and doenst sit much higher than it does stock...if depends on the setting in which u have the center-peice on...

Not a bad looking wing at all. But I finally made my final decision and actually ordered it yesterday; the CF version of the S203 wing through the group buy that RavSpec is having. I can't wait to get it and see how it looks on the car I think it's going to look nice. I'll post pics of it on the car when it comes in and you guys can be the judge.

Thanks for all the suggestions by everyone it did help me make my decision,
--Imran
BTW- Where did you order all those carbon fiber parts for the interior of the car? I don't want to carbon fiber as much as you are going to but I would love to carbon fiber the door handle panals (front and rear doors), the radio area, around the air vents, and possibly the outside part of the car right between the front and rear door windows.

Caesar I don't mind at all if you're hijacking my thread, like I said before I love the look of your girl friends car. The front is pretty nice as well it flows well with the rest of the look of the car. The question I had was how is she running 19x10 in the rears without rubbing issues and without widebody work to the rear quarter panals. I'm assuming she rolled her rear fenders at least.
