Anybody else think that Paul Tracy sucks? part 1

Anybody else think that Paul Tracy sucks?
He put 2 or 3 people into the wall today. He got black flagged and still finished 5th. I hope CART does something about his actions.
HoRo1 07-11-2004 09:03 PM

Paul Tracy is the Takuma Sato of CART. Fast, but ultimately a liability.

Maybe he thought it was a NASCAR race?
artkevin 07-11-2004 10:11 PM

Oh man. The Taco comment was ruff. I think Tracy is leagues more of a liablity then Takuma. Tracy just tends to get frustrated and make bonehead moves out of pure aggression when things aren't going his way. Usually Taco just hits a wall, not take out another car (uaually).;)
Lafora 07-11-2004 10:59 PM

if PT was that good; he would've won the championship when CART still had montoya, zanardi and andretti.

Man I have to agree with you 200% on that comment. He has the skill, but his over emotional actions aways get in his way.

Yea, and he was driving the #20 Home Depot car.
theJohnson 07-12-2004 02:13 PM

he comes into my work and i think hes a dork. i scratched the hell out his yellow porsche turbo too-like a 8 inch scratch all the way to the metal-we didnt fix it. his wife or whatever looks pretty good though. off subject but whatever. hes a weiner.

OMG golf clap for you!
Where do you work? McDonalds?

I think he's exciting to watch both in and out of the car. Since he is / gets emotional I think he is watched more closley than any other driver.
artkevin 07-12-2004 03:04 PM

He sure does bring spice to CART the same way Tony Stewart does. He is just a blow hard that won a championship when everybody else left. He can't keep his head on straight and he thinks hes a pretty boy and a lot cooler then he is. He does have a pretty cool helmet collection though.
Lou 07-13-2004 11:44 AM

Plus I heard in him in an interview talking about how his 911 Turbo was Tiptronic (ie automatic tranny). They shouldn't even make those cars with anything but a manual let alone a millionaire race driver buy one like it.
AndyRoo 07-13-2004 12:14 PM

yeah his car is an automatic, what an a-hole.

i dont like him either though.
cloud7 07-13-2004 05:18 PM

He is a personality in CART... not many of those left to be honest... He is a fast guy. He somehow got his aggression under controlled last year for the first time in his career... that was why he won the championship. It really made him looked bad last race in TO but that's racing.

I don't like like Paul.

Takuma is not as bad IMO.
Hater4dix 07-04-2012 11:50 PM

Paul Tracy
This punk needs to get over himself....he should be working at Subway & take a bus to get there...he shouldn't be allowed behind the wheel of a bicycle not to mention an automobile.
rjrutzky 07-05-2012 11:08 AM

nice 8 year bump
artkevin 07-05-2012 12:31 PM

The man knows how to search!
falcongsr 07-05-2012 12:55 PM

someone joined NASIOC and searched for paul tracy threds lulz!

This is almost a pertinent bump, as he almost took out a big chunk of the field during the 6-hour Rolex race at Watkins Glen last weekend because he didn't obey the law of "In a spin, both feet in". This is pretty textbook of what not to do, the restart at 5:20.

Porsche would be out of business without the AT version. So would Subaru if they did not sell AT cars.

In case you did not realize most people are just daily drivers , not the race car driver you are.:)

Glad I wasn't the only one who saw that and thought it was a really bad rookie move...Not only did he dive in on that corner when it wasn't really his anymore, but he rolled back in traffic too...I was screaming at the TV and couldn't believe the announcers didn't go off about it.

There was a collective gasp in our pit when he started rolling backwards in our pits. Our car was 5 behind PT on the restart.

Preventing rolling back into traffic is why you should lock the brakes when you lose control. There have been many racing accidents that would have been far less severe had the driver that spun locked the brakes, or stayed on them once they lost control. The first one that pops into my mind is Phil McClure in World Challenge in 2003 at Road America.
rjrutzky 07-05-2012 07:42 PM

@ :47 Paul Tracy in his RSX took his foot off the brake and hit me

When I saw the thread title I thought it was a new thread at first that was started because of what happened at The Glen.

So did I. When I saw what had happened at the Glen hadn't been posted, even though it was a necro-bump, I figured it was appropriate.
Whiteghost 2.5 07-06-2012 02:43 PM

Hows it going out at the Brickyard today kfoote? Hot as hell??

Josh
kfoote 07-06-2012 03:37 PM

I'm not there, but I have the live timing up. We're P4 in this GS session, and yes, I have heard people are complaining about the heat.

We only have 1 GS and 1 GT car there, as one of the GS cars is on its way to the body shop as a result of the Road America carnage.
Whiteghost 2.5 07-06-2012 04:13 PM

yea we have 2 Altimas there they both look pretty good. I cant be there either. But will be there for the Race.
Hotrodguru 07-06-2012 06:47 PM

Tracy was a badass in his hay day, not so anymore. Another thing, is that he's always been a big supporter of amateurs in the sport. Back in the day when I was looking for sponsorship for some talented kid, he stepped up to the plate when nobody else did.

I guess for that I'll always like him but you can't excuse his balsy moves now.
medamullet 07-12-2012 10:36 AM

I didn't see this started in 2004  nice bump. It's aways nice to get a 6 year update on a DB. Nice work Paul Tracy.
