I get my dents fixed constantly, always park as far away from others as possible, and yet I ALWAYS get new dents. I swear Subaru body panels are prone to denting.
I am thinking about getting one of those as seen on TV dent repairs with the glue to try to minimize the amount of trips to the dent repair guy as possible...any thoughts?

Well, while at Home Depot this past Thursday evening someone decided to use my wingless trunk lid as a rest stop and placed a product on there very hard and left three dings, and the biggest one also has a slight crease in it.
Some people are just FA's and have no consideration for anyone else's property.
Keep smiling, keep smiling, don't explode...

Ehhh... probably wouldn't buff out. The sedan fenders would look nice, but you'd have to fix the door too. How far down the car does the scratch go?

I would of been testing the shock sensors in his head after that.
I had two dents in each of my passenger side doors two weeks after I bought the car. I didn't have too much luck with the pops-a-dent. Payed about 200 to have them removed. (One was a crease) Now I park in the underground parking garage at work. No one else parks there since it's quite the walk, and I have lost about 5 lbs.

One dent on the hood with custom scratch thanks to a rock from a car hauling 18-wheeler.
One dent on the hear the driver side rear light from my gf's brother's ADD 9 year old friend who, after everyone else carefully got out of the giant GMC Envoy decided to jump and swing on the door thus banging my car.
Yeah, I "yelled" at him: "Hey, be careful!" He started to cry. My gf told me to apologize.

My 02OBS has about 45k miles on it now, but when it had 18k, I dropped a few hundred and took it to the paintless dent shop to get all the dents removed. Car looked good as new. Now, 25k later, it's back to surface of the moon cratered. I just waxed it last night and you can see every little dimple of the thing when you look closely. It really pisses me off. I get lots of dents too. I have one bizarre dent right by the passenger parking light. I don't know the term for it, but that little orange like on the side of the vehicle. A little crease there. I can't figure out how it got there. Looks like some SUV owner hit it.
Worse than the doors is the windshield. I have NEVER had a car like this when it comes to getting a pitted windshield. I don't know if it's the angle of the windscreen, or the material, but I get so many rock chips it's SICK.
Then there's the fog lamp. I took a blast to the driver's fog lamp and it blew a spall off the rear of the lens and put a hole right into the reflector. Killer expensive. But I live in the upper great plains where the highway people dump pure quartzite rock on to the roads for traction. Not just sand, mind you, but a rock nearly as hard as diamond. That's not an exaggeration either, but I digress.

Here's some comments regarding trucks:
I used to work for an asphalt paving company. We hauled lots of materials from asphalt plants using end-dump trucks. Drivers were constantly calling to say that materials from the truck hit their vehicle causing damage.
In your case, it sounds like road debris. But if it was a piece of the load, read on.
You are driving near a big vehicle. If it is "road debris" then that cannot be paid for by the company. The company will insist that it was in fact road debris and NOT the material being hauled. This alleviates them from liability.
Truck drivers have a legal obligation to secure their loads. If that means tarping the load, then that's what it takes. Load configuration, securement, etc.
If you get hit by a piece of material from the vehicle, get the vehicle license number, a description of the vehicle including any unique identifier. Most trucks have a unit number somewhere visible on the load, particularly if they haul rocks and stuff. Common places for this are on the back of the truck, or on the front bumper.
Then get a location where it happened. A description of what happened, and especially the name of the company. It's on the side. If you can, look for the DOT number. That will tell you everything you need. That number is GOLDEN.
Here's how you use that number to find the name of the carrier. It has to be written on the vehicle somewhere. Semis have it on the driver door, fuel tank, or sleeper cab. I can't post a link due to the board rules, so bear with me.
Search google for "safestat online". Click on the little picture with the bus and truck logo. Then on the next page, click on SafeStat Online. You can enter the DOT number, MC number, or any part of the company name. That will tell you the mailing address, fleet manager, his or her email address, phone number, and everything else.
Then call that person and say that you were struck by an unsecured load causing damage to your vehicle. If you can save the debris, all the better, since you might need to prove this. Then begin the claim process. Tell them you want to seek reimbursement. They get a lot of fraud from these complaints, so have your facts ready.
You might also call the police to report this. That will lend more credibilty to your story and give you more leverage. You might need a police report to get a red tag for repairs at a body shop. Some shops won't repair damage unless you have a red tag. This helps minimize hit and run people fixing their cars.

If you are in your standard parking lot, parked straight in as most people do, (read: not backed into a parking spot), your passenger side is next to someone else's driver side door. If they are careless, then they are likely to open their door into your passenger side. This seems to be the most popular scenario for getting dings in your door.
My girlfriend works in an office complex which has a noticeably overweight woman who parks close to other people's cars, so that when she opens her door, it leans into the other person's car. She does this so that she can use her door (propped against someone elses car) to lift her overweight self out of her tiny toyota corolla. My girlfriend has seen this happen on several occasions, and when she confronted the lady about it, she just pretended not to hear her.

Pops-a-dent does not work. The reviews are very poor. Just look at the thing, glue...suction cups? Maybe if you have a nice round light dent from something like a basketball but a door ding remover I doubt it.
I had my first experience with PDR last week. Normally I do not care about slight door dings, but this one was right on the upper rear door along the line, and very deep. Like the person swung the door open as hard as they could. The guy was real nice, and let me watch him remove the dent. He had 90% of it out within 30-seconds. He put a wood door stop wedge in my window frame with the window down. Then slipped this tool in behind the door.

He then spent the next 10 minutes working it out slowly until it was perfect. He also used a hammer and a small plastic steak and tapped the door from a outside a couple times.

No offense man, but the pros use suction cups and glue on the dents they can't work out. Just because the reviews are poor means nothing. Reviews of products are almost always poor for these two main reasons:
1) People by far review more when they are pissed than when they are happy, so there is always a disproportionate amount of bad to good.
2) People are friggin idiots. I remember reading this review for one of my iPod arm holder things, and it got a few terrible reviews saying the case opened and dropped the iPod. NO ****!!! You have to LATCH the bottom shut you idiots!!!!

I dunno about you but when 9/10 reviews are bad, I tend to believe the product is bad. The good reviews seems to be that it works for large shallow round dents. IE: a basketball, someone leaning their ass on your car, etc. If this works for door dings then I think just about everyone on here would have one. It's been around for years, not really a secret. Good products get good reviews, lots of ppl buy, and good reviews continue.

I just finished my morning at school and went back to my car to go home. I then saw that somebody had parked in front of me and had his/her bumper laying on top of mine, making a scratch mark. They already went to class and i was a bit mad so i kicked off their side mirror without even thinking. I guess someone saw me kick their mirror off because the next morning I had a visit by police officers in class. I ended up having to pay 70 bucks for their mirror replacement. :(
moral of the story: dont get caught when getting even. haha
and too bad i cant find out who ratted me out. They'd be missing a side mirror too.
