Nice interior jetguy. Where did you get your shift knob from and how much? I know there is another thread here about the momo shift knob, but I was just wondering if you had another source. Thanks.

Thanks, I got the knob from www.sportscar-parts.com

Looks Great!!! I have 2 questions for you. How was the install of the trim???? I'm debating getting some but don't know how involved it is..... Q2, Can you post some close up pics of the steering wheel. I would like to see the detail in that. Great idea, would like to maybe try that myself.
Props,
Triton

trim wasn't that bad aT all to install.
the stearing wheel: get paint from sherwin williams automotive. it is in a spray can and is made for vinal and plastic. it stays simi-flexable. I used black electrical tape to tape area off, sprayed paint in a plastic cup, then I brushed it on useing a pencil sized piant brush. after i had it all painted up i let it dry for 24hrs, then take fine steel wool and rub over the area to give it a brushed aluminum look. take your timt and pay attention to details!!:D

Lesson learned: You want to look over the steering wheel, not be blinded by it.

hey, i remember that interior...it was fun getting thrown around in it while going way too fast through a little parking lot and side roads :). and for those wondering, the paint looks real good in person, it looks pretty much stock. i think i might try that to mine too but with blue instead (once i get the car).
| jetguy | 06-12-2002 10:19 AM |
Hazdas,
yeah monroe is a small town, but i have fond memories of it. It was my high school years (football and cheerleaders:D ).
monroe is near fairfeild, trumbel, danbury, and bridgeport.
basicly a little suberb. great twisty roads (that I know like the back of my hand, one road had a huge bump in it that i would jump my fathers honda accord over:devil: I would hit it near the top of third gear. one time I jumped so far I had time to look over to my buddie and say "man that one sucked" BOOOM then we landed.:D The next day we toteled the honda and took out a phone pole:( .
Cody, I think blue would look good, you did a great job on your gts's interior!! I gues all of those art classes are paying off (AIOA)

hey, thanks chris, i was happy with the way everything came out on the celica too. its just too bad it doesn't run as good as it looks. i've got some good plans in mind for the wrx though, all i need is a better job and some more money. which reminds me, i still need to go do some job searching next week. that should be fun...

I bought a replica knob like that one on ebay for $25. The only differences is the lack of "MOMO" on it and mine has no holes in the leather. I've had it for the last 15,000 miles.

What no dead pedal? With a painted wheel, you should at LEAST have a matching dead pedal.
| The_Triton | 06-12-2002 04:27 PM |
Where did you get the trim kit from???? There is a blue carbonfiber one I've seen on Ebay. But I don't know the quality of those.
Another question........I'm thinking of trying some painting as well (don't worry, I don't have a Silver WRX :D ). However, how hard would it be to take the paint off if I didn't like it. Would the steering wheel never look the same????

Interior as a whole looks good, but that steering wheel is what looks REALLY sharp to me. Someone should do those up properly (as in manufacturing them in bulk) and sell them. :)

The steering wheel kind of looks like a variation of the options from the Subaru Japan site.

Put this in there too. :p

Once you painted the wheel I think you are commited. You could try to remove the paint but; it would never come all the way out of the grains in the leather , plus what ever solvent you would use would kill the leather. So if you are going to try this be confident in your ability with brush control. This was not exactly the easiest mod. but it looks great when it is done rite.
the dash kit is from www.exoticwooddash.com it is the brushed aluminum 3-decor kit. I think it went for $225.00 . There is a cheaper kit but it dosen't look as good ($185.00) They do sell a metal weave looking kit that looks awsome but I think it is $300.00+++
Don't worry about "copying" any one this is a cool mod. I honestly came up with this idea by looking in the back of a magazine www.stwheel.com had some for sale like this and I thought "I could do that myself", so I did!
Hazdas the white gauges look great. Dose anyone know if they make silver gauges??
Those leather seats look sweeet:cool: but I'm still saving up for my scooby sports downpipe

:D update:....... I just fabricated my own dead pedal
I used 2024 t-6 aircraft aluminum .100 thick. and i matched the oem pedals hole patern. i also inserted some rubber grommets as a anti slip measure (and it looks cool).

Cool. Any ideas for the clock spot?
Hey. Any ideas on what you might try to put where the digital clock is now?
Are you going to leave that in?
I'm seriously going for performance mods first, but I really hate that clock. I'm doing the gagues on the pillar so I'm looking for ideas as to what might fit there and be cool/functional.
Any links on that topic?
(figured you might have an idea since you did all that work so far)

jetguy and Hazdaz - only one question:
How bright is it in the sun? The mod really makes the interior look great, but if you're squinting from the glare off it, it might make the whole task of driving a little rough...

not glaring at all. this will not be a problem. it is about as shinny as the silver around the stereo. I get more glare off of my black dash with 2001 protectant on it that i do with the silver parts of my wheel.

Hellwagon, where did you get your kit that had the piece for the clock?
I might have a Bling Bling Interior Soon.
Got Leather Seats coming...
Custom Floor Mats from autostyle.co.uk
And Possibly a Carbon Fiber Dash Kit....
Possibly a Momo shift knob.
