Saw this in the new issue of Impreza Magazine (sorry for the crappy scan):

I don't think it's bad for a sedan. Thoughts?

*** is up with the hood? Why is the edges red while the rest is black/carbon fiber?
| blaznasn | 03-26-2004 03:08 AM |
maybe the hood is just painted that way? or if you look close at cf hoods you'll see a lining around the edges, it's usually black, maybe they just made it red.

blaznasn - That's the Hamman Las Vegas Kit. Retail is $50K for everything. I didn't mention that it's got a 458bhp V8 breathing under that cowl, did I?

Sorry man but those are in no way Rota wheels. For one they have a polished 2 step lip, along with the car is running a Racing Hart banner sticker in the front windshield. Being as Rota makes multiple similiar/copied wheels from various manufactures I can see how you would get confused.

now that i look closer i see you're right. i never noticed the 2 step lip difference between the hart & subzeros.
oh well. subzero = 135$ each hart = 320$ each
disclaimer: its probably not 320 each, but i recall it being in the neighborhood.

Sounds like two sets of Rotas WITH tires, with leftover for something else.

My girlfriend bought me a 1 year subscription for my birthday. She apparently went to the local Japanese bookstore and asked them if this was possible and surely enough, it was. So every 2 months, I get a nice little package waiting for me at the door. She won't tell me how much it cost but she said it wasn't that bad. If you know of a Japanese bookstore give it a shot. It doesn't even need to be in the area (I've since moved from LA to Philly and they still send it to me from LA), as long as they can get magazines from Japan.

My unsolicited two cents :p ...the aftermarket 'universal' lambo door kits you see cheap in the magazines are generally pretty poor quality- fitment is difficult at best, they look and feel weak, don't close right, or wear out and sag over time.
I just got back from SBN in Daytona (Spring Break Nationals...HUGE car show/audio competition in FL) and the lambo doors are everywhere, but only the $$$ kits actually feel right opening and closing. You'd better have a damn good body man to fit them too which will be more $$$.
I met a kid about 3 weeks ago in Virginia who had them put on his prelude. He said the fit was so bad, he didn't even like driving his car anymore (and it was a sweet car- gelcoated fiberglass full audio buildout in the trunk, all kinds of bling honda & mugen shiny bits under the hood, custom paint etc.).
I pretty much do car shows for a living, and having seen the wide variance in results of the transformations I've seen... as cool as they look, I'm personally staying well away from such mods.
As they say, your results may vary...
Regards,
P03w
PS- I though Hamann had their program together until I saw that macabre and hideous transformation above. As much as I respect their tuning prowess, their designer has definitely overstepped the bounds of good taste visually, and I can't think of many ways you could put a door more in the way of getting out of the car...

"Technicolor Abortions"
Anyway, I am not a fan of Lambo doors. They're just so completely useless, and they do not look the least bit good on a 4-door, as evidenced by that image you have there. They're heavy, and they divert money ($2k+, so lots of it) away from performance. People just shouldn't be building WRXs to be show cars, the WRXs have more important things to be doing....
Consequently, if you've got a Civic or something, and you've got Lambo doors on it, I really wouldn't raise beef. If something is a dedicated show car, practicality isn't a factor, so I have no problems with flashiness for flashiness' sake.

The hood cowl is to clear the engine as I hear it. THe doors, well, I dunno, but they are actually driving and from other angles you can see there is a relatively large opening for entry, you just have to approach from the rear of the car.
I thought the idea was cool anyway :)

There are plenty of Impreza web sites in Japan, Australia, etc. Most of the time if you see something for sale in one of those places it's possible to get it to the U.S. (Except for stuff related to emissions.)
Here's a site that appears to have Impreza Magazine for sale. I can't read Japanese, but as a guess it looks like the subscription for one year is 7360 yen which would be about $75. There's an icon for "add to cart," so if you're rich you could take a chance with your credit card and put in an order.
Actually that might not be such a good idea... ;)

not always, i don't know about this particular mag but i used to get japanese tuner in english print. check it out if u really wana get it, just might hav an english print version.
as for the STi, looks alright.....not my choice but i'm not gona flame it. personally i like lambos on some cars, but not sedans. i was thinking about it on my gc8 when i shave my handles and throw in poppers. but i'd hafta fab some of the mounts and i'm lazy and don't hav the money anyways. i emailed one place and the guy was just getting ready for a business trip but he said when he got back he'd try to send me some cardboard or paper mock ups to see exactly how hard/easy it would be to do. some of the kits aren't that expensive and if u got one u could always copy the mounts with a stronger material and then sell the kit you purchased.
