Calling Women Racers at Peru Tour!

Some of you may have heard of the comments that Bernie Ecclestone (of FIA) made regarding Danica Patrick's performance at the Indy 500. "You know, I've got one of these wonderful ideas that women should be all dressed in white like all the other domestic appliances." So. Last weekend at the Oscoda Pro I wore a "UDA Local 77" hat. UDA = United Domestic Appliances. I got several inquiries about it, and a plan was hatched.
We're looking to see if we can get a group picture together this weekend at the Peru Tour of women autocrossers with our cars, wearing white UDA t-shirts. Jennifer Merideth has come with a neat design for the shirts. If you would be interested in participating, please post here or SCCAForums as well as seek either Jen or I out at Peru and let us know (I'm not sure if I'll be able to check this forum again before I leave tomorrow morning).
If you don't know who either Jen or I are, I will be driving the #77 blue WRX in STXL and will be the chief of safety for the event. Jen will be driving the #89/189 black Mustang in ESP and is also one of the chiefs for the event. So hopefully someone can point us out.
Thanks!
Jen Croy

........I feel so much better about myself. You people take the silliest things wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy too seriously. It was nothing more than a harmless joke.
Go watch a season or two of The Dave Chappelle show and let us know when you've acquired some form of a sense of humor.. ;) :p

Jen, great idea for the shirts! :) I couldn't believe that came from Bernie when I read that.. but then again, that are other parts of the world that still view women like objects.

ooh, someones having their cycle...
fwiw, i read that quote and wondered how someone could get away with saying something like that in the public eye. Perhaps he meant it tongue in cheek like I just did... you know like all those commercials that bastardize men, literally and figuratively. As if we're too dumb to dress our selves and otherwise "need" women to get through our daily lives. Oh what a day when we all realize we need each other...just a little bit. As long as my woman mows every week the lawn i got no beef with her.

My 2 cents.
After Indy, there was a thread in this forum with many people hinting that it's easier for a woman to get a drive because she can use her looks to get in the door. Well, that may work sometimes, but it is equally and probably more likely for women to run into some variation of the "domestic appliance" attitude and not be taken as seriously. Hopefully Bernie Ecclestone's stupid comments can at least do some good by exposing the barriers that women face when breaking into a male dominated sport.

I believe what Ecclestone said was rude and wrong, but in context he was being sarcastic...someone asked him something abotu women drivers or minority drivers...he said that..then he said he wanted a woman driver who is loads quicker than all the men..who is black or some minority..and speaks spanish... (i'm not sure if he said w/ a disability too)
so i think he was kind of being disparaging to the reporter asking the question

Would that be the rince cycle or spin dry?
Anyway my opinion is difference in sex is not a deciding factor in the ability to drive. I have seen bad drivers of the male and female. Before some guy wants to run his mouth about how professionally, men are better drivers... he needs to watch some races and see how many men wreck their cars. :D

I have not yet seen the "official" picture, and the pictures Phil took are still in the camera. But here is a shot someone else took while we were getting set up.

OK, that too. I'll have to make sure to bring a bottle of tequila to Toledo!
But we also offered you one of the Stone's Ruinations. As I recall, you declined, not wanting to take the last one.

apparently slower than men, since they chose to run in ladies classes
althought, looking at DSP and DSPL at nationals...
Patty Tunnell 02 BMW 330Ci Red Hoosier 99.905
Jack Mott 94 BMW 325i Gold Hoosier 101.220
hmm, I need to rectify that this year
=)
