Report: Schumacher doesn't rule out comeback
SportsTicker
BERLIN -- Only a few days after retiring from Formula One, Michael Schumacher has revealed he may consider a return to motor racing.
The seven-time world champion, who turns 38 in January, raced what was thought to be his final Grand Prix at Brazil on Sunday.
But he told Swedish journalist Fredrik af Petersens, in an interview published on www.autosport.com, that he would not rule out coming back in the future.
"Why should I?" he said. "For now, in any case, I can only answer in this way. Niki Lauda went back to racing in F1, Mika Hakkinen races in DTM, but all this happened after some time.
"I can't say with any certainty what I will do in two or three years' time."

Seeing his last race, he is too competitive to stay away from racing.
Racing would be much better than getting caught up in a drinking game with ralph

He's going to do some sort of racing, just not F1. I think DTM is likely since its in Germany (well, most of the rounds) and its likely someone would give him 30 mil to be on their team.

He stated a few years ago that it was too boring and not enough of a challenge to race in those cars.

HE also said it was too dangerous.

I believe the retirement wasnt entirely his choice, he was basically kicked off the team. So I wouldn't be surprised if he came back to something.
| sleepy98 | 10-27-2006 12:42 AM |
Schumacher's been doing it too long to stay away. He'll be back just like MJ.
| JZ oo7 | 10-27-2006 05:13 AM |
hey, if he goes to nascar, it'll actually be ok to hit someone and take them out of the race.

I wish he'd start working as a consultant with Jean Todt to a team like Midlands or Super Aguri.
Beat up on the prancing horse a bit.

You do know that Jean Todt just became the CEO of Ferrari right?
MS was on his way out anyway. He won't be back in anything near a competitive car. There was a time when he was the best, and he's still in the top 5 for sure, but he's getting too old to compete in F1. DTM, Touring cars, LeMans- he could do any of these and be competitive.

As cliche as this may sound in a Subaru forum, I kind of want to see Schumi at the helm of a WRC car. Yeah, he's been roadracing all of his life, but I wonder how keen he would be driving a WRC car in the different conditions.
| Rich10 | 10-27-2006 03:48 PM |
If a year from now a top team needs a top driver, it is possible that we could see MS back in F1. I don't think that he would do it unless it was a team that had a chance of running a top car.

Yeah he wasn't the best this year. The last race showed that he couldn't hang with the big dogs because he was too old.
Did you not see the second half of the year or the last race. MS is still very competitve and easily in the top two of drivers.

Naah, he got too scared when Petter Solberg drove him around while vacationing/visiting Petter a few years back.

Prediction: Yes, Michael will be back.
Wouldn't suprise me if he comes back from the race management side.
He certainly would be no more or less annoying than Flav

+1 that he'll be back. I say the odds that he will be behind the wheel of a race car again are pretty good. He'd be insane not to get involved with motorsports in some sort of capacity.

He will be back in a BMW. You can quote me on that!

Well looks like he's signed up to be Jean Todt's assistent. Recruit young talent and help develop the team. Should keep him close to the action...
