Console SWAP from '04 interior to '05

My '05 center console came in today and I haven't had time to FuLLY check it out. I got the center vent all the way down to the arm rest box w/E brake.
My question is, does anybody know what else ill need for the swap? Any specific brackets or parts? I just imagined it would be a take off put on process,except for the Ebrake assemebly.

There is a metal bracket, replacing the current one, where the glovebox and centre inpane screw into.
.....also, i think the radio brackets are different. You will need to relocate the window switch assembly.

I don't have pictures, but they came off of a 05 STI radio. They're more angled than my WRX brackets.

Can this be done on a 02 WRX? The 02 WRX doesn't have climate control and stuff, so I'm unsure how the 05 stuff would work.

So other than the no climate control, the AC/Fan knobs ect... all work fine? Direct bolt up? Nice job! I was debating about buying just the 05 HVCS front panel since the TR's come with a sorta 04 -05 mixed interior. I was just worried about the fan controls not working correctly. Do you know how much that one part cost?

So I asked the dealership for diagrams of the '04 & '05 everything looks straight forward as far was having everything to complete the swap.
Funny thing was they freaked out when I told them I was switchin the intire console. Lol. Good times with Subaru parts departments haha...

What about the Ebrake handle?
On the 04 wrx its closer to the passenger seat and the 05 is closer to the driver seat in the center console piece.
Can the handle be relocated??

Yes the wiring and placement are different from the '02+ wrx and the '04 STi which is why upon buying the parts for this swap you should invest extra and get either the '06 wrx standard black HVAC or the kewl knoby '05+STi HVAC controls

So for the parts since I have a 06, but with the middle section only being like a 04. What do I need? I called Subaru parts and they quoted me $800 dollars for just that plastic part? That can't be right? Now I have swapped out CD head units so I know once I take off the front plastic plate, I see the whole AC/Fan unit. It still has the knobs attached ect.. And it is pretty large in general, does that have to be replaced? Or does the new face plate line right up, the knobs, harness, and anything else work? I can't seem to find it saying that unit stays or goes in the iwsti thread, and I am not a member so I can't see the pictures.

Omg! So you want your '06 to have a complete '04 lookin console? Cause dood ill sell you mine...then you could sell yours to some guy in the wtb furoms who's willing to pay $300 for an '05-'06 console

Like yours & preivous years, and I want the 05-06 Climate control panel. I don't care about the climate control part, but I would like the nice looking panel ect.. But mine is a little different than a 04, cause my top 2 vents are 05-06, and the bottom ashtray, cup holders, brake ect.. are 05-06. It is just that center portion that is 04/ RS'ish. So what do you think, can I buy just the front panel, and use all the current internals?

But that one section surrounding the radio, will it hook right up to my current internal stuff? Like under the plastic silver painted portion, I still have knobs,the slider, a unit which controls all my fans/AC ect.., now can I buy just the painted front portion and will the knobs and stuff work with the unit I have now???

Hmm the kit I got came with a HVAC unit and the cords just plugged in to back,as for the radio face plate I don't know if that same one will werk for the STi HVAC unit...find that link I posted about the ebay parts the do0d has that whole section for like 15.99 the auctions ends within a day so you might be abke to just get one and save time worring about it..

SOOOO the instal was going smooth Ebrake went in sweet,just used the '04 cable and the lenth was perfect. Everything bolted up nicly..EXCEPTED the HVAC..my system runs on the cable system not like the '04 sti and its electrical system.
So does anybody have any suggestions?? Besides buying an electrical set up I'm stumped....

The ONLY thing you can do really is get an 06 TR radio plate (60 bucks) and have the 05+ console with th 02-04 fan controls.
Otherwise you have to buy the whole fan/ HVAC box, take off the dash, take out your hvac and cables, and install/rig up the 05 into the same spot as the old HVAC. A HUGE pain in the butt and few have succesfully done it.
IMO deal without the climate control and enjoy your new shiny, updated, cupholder boasting, wider center console

Ok so I am definitely interested in doing this 04-05 Center console swap; however, everything I am reading is mentioning things about the 04s not having Auto climate control and the HVAC is different, my 04 STi has auto as an option.. so.. yea.. Direct swap plug and play or no?

if possible, what components would i need to swap out my 04 climate controls with the 05? i know that my 04 isnt automatic... but is there anyway to bypass that and have a functional auto 05 climate unit?

Hey guys, I bought the 05 manual shift boot but it does not have an opening at the top to go pass the "reverse lift" on the STI shifter. Anyone know how to get the 05 boot to work with the sti shifter?
