Danicka Patrick in Nascar in 07

Anybody get the idea that this was the plan all along? Put her in Indy to legitimize her and then put her in Nascar for the ultimate PR attention. Think of the sponsors and attention she would bring to Nascar.

I always wondered why she never really tried to win anything except the Indy 500. She seems to just stay out there and not take any chances.
I say good. Put her in a stock car, I'm sick of hearing about her everytime I watch a race.
super-ru 07-10-2006 01:02 PM

Well, normally I'd dismiss this as wild speculation and wishful thinking, but considering JPM just went to Nascar from F1 I'm thinking anything is possible right now, haha.

I'd hit it.

JPM's thoughts exactly...(his move is now looking better... )

And to all the nay-sayers out there...

Watch her do the Civic Si test with Tommy Kendall and tell me she's not cute...
mykrrrr 07-10-2006 01:41 PM

She's super cute. :) Good for her!!!

I hope Subaru goes to NASCAR in '08 so all the fan boi's who badmouth NASCAR can jump on the bandwagon.

Just wait for a FWD Subaru again...similar result...
I always wondered why she never really tried to win anything except the Indy 500.
Yeah, I'm sure that's been her plan all along. "Ya know, I don't really feel like winning this race, I think I'll just wait for Indy..."
Templar 07-10-2006 02:29 PM

I personally would be very happy to see her go out and do well. I would love to hear these redneck hillbillies I work with crying and moaning about there favorite inbred hick getting his butt kicked by a girl.

These folks are professionals, they are going to go where the money is, simple as that.

"I always wondered why she never tried to win anything but the Indy 500."

Actually, she is trying, she's just a crappy driver. I don't think she has a single victory in her racing career, at least Katherine Legge has seen the checkered flag a few time.
Danica is cute, and great for marketing, most of her success is due to her cuteness and not her talent.

So you are saying she is the Anna Kournikova of car racing? probably right.
ghschirtz 07-10-2006 04:54 PM

Danica is also married, for the moment, so don't pant over her too much.

Agreed she seems to be about a mid-fielder when it comes to racing. Can't really blame the team. NASCAR pays better, so it stands to reason she would go there, eventually.

In terms of wins I thought she had some in the UK Formula Ford series she ran for 3 seasons before her Indy debut. Somebody in the UK have a comment on that?

Will be interesting to see how JPM adapts. I hope he does well, even if he is ill-tempered.

Article doesn't say she's switching over, simply that it is an idea. If the IRL gets back together with Champcar I think the championship will mean a lot more, but as it stands now, the Indy 500 is all that series has, people don't give a crap about the IRL championship.
575rider 07-10-2006 05:04 PM

Well put...that says it better than anything. Anna is much more hot than Danica though.
CirrusWRX 07-10-2006 06:16 PM

I hear Petter Solberg is also entertaining the thought of driving around in NASCAR ovals, but has yet to find a codriver willing to sift through the grueling pace notes.

(Yes I'm joking)

I agree, also I'd like everyone else who thinks women aren't capable of winning see that (Jenson Button of F1 was saying a year ago, that women don't belong in racing or something along those lines... I thought it was pretty stupid blanket statement for an F1 pilot.)
Evil STI 07-10-2006 06:27 PM

Time to show the "momma's boys" there is a world beyond the fishbowl.
racerjon1 07-10-2006 06:34 PM

I am betting that her dad is wandering around the NASCAR garage to play games with people over in the IRL. You know the IRL officials want her, and teams would love to have the attention, so with her contract up, him being there is a shot across the bow, and a good try at "raising" her worth.

Danica is a good driver, has a lot of car control, but has some work to do when it comes to racing, in NASCAR, i feel that it would show worse than it does in the IRL.

anna kournikova just never won a major she won some Nationwide tour events i believe
Jtree 07-10-2006 07:00 PM

it would be interesting if she got a ride with toyota...

Incorrect. She was quite a force to be reckoned with when teamed up with another force to be reckoned with, Martina Hingis.

1999 - Ranked #1 doubles, and won the Australian Open with Hingis. Kournikova also has 13 doubles titles to her name.

I stand corrected she was good in doubles never won a singles event

Anna who? Maria Sharipova wins AND looks fantastically hot doing it.

Danica Patrick, while a far better driver than any of us, is a Letterman vehicle. Letterman is a great showman, and understands that to make money, little substance is actually necessary.

Thats fine if she goes NASCAR. I never watched Indy either.
makofoto 07-11-2006 02:30 AM

+1 for Sharipova ... makes HD +1
XenoWolf 07-11-2006 08:48 AM

I can hear it now...

"A woman, a damn dirty ***back, the japs and a foo-foo french guy in my NASCAR? Gawt dammit!"

She is not the best driver, but she is definately not really trying. She seems to qualify well and then just sit out there in the field. She had no problem getting out there in the Indy 500 where she actually tried, why can't she do well in other races that are less trying? I personally think she is happy making money and being a marketing giant. That's where Nascar comes in....
jcroy66 07-11-2006 09:20 AM

Danica has always qualified better than she does in races. It's nothing new to IRL.

I don't think it follows that she's not trying though.

Jen (who's been following Danica since BEFORE the 2005 Indy 500 :p)
wvallwheeldrive 07-11-2006 09:25 AM

i don't think she's not trying to win races the whole Rahal-Letterman race team is not good i don't think you can blame that on her
John C 07-11-2006 10:43 AM

Meh, she's hit her talent wall. Most drivers just slip away at this point, but she's got boobs, so it's cashola time. "Don't worry about that door slamming, it's just your dignity leaving, can you unzip that race suit just a little bit more for the photo, thanx."
hikeeba 07-11-2006 12:48 PM
Danica is also married, for the moment, so don't pant over her too much.
Unfortuantely, the fact that she is married will only slow about 40% of the population down on that idea.

Danica, Toyota, and JPM added to NASCORE all in the same year would cause NASCORE's head to esplode. Frankly, I'm all for that. I'm not a fan of the closed-wheel roudy-roundy stuff, but I'll tune in to see what JPM is up to.

Danica is a great PR tool, yes, but she has proven she can hang with the boys in open wheel. I'd like her to stick around for the IRL/Champ Car combined series. Most of her past successes were on road courses, if I'm not mistaken (and I very well could be mistaken).

Afterthought: And you know, despite my general disinterest in NASCAR, I'm thinking about making the move to the Cup series. Who isn't thinking about it these days? $$$$$$$$$

A-men to that. As much as people hate Nascar, it is here to stay and will only get bigger. There are more sponsors that want in Nascar than there are cars that are available! Wouldn't Tony George love to have that problem!
Homemade WRX 07-11-2006 04:49 PM

I would hope she would hang around for the champ/irl rejoining...I'll watch her in open wheel but not in nascar
StuBeck 07-11-2006 05:03 PM

What is NASCORE?
