DC Shoes One Lap of America STi part 1

DC Shoes One Lap of America STi
From jalopnik.com

The Block/Scotto One-Lap Machine

Ken Block DC Shoes co-founder and Travis Pastrana teammate is taking on Brock Yates hoary and hairy One Lap of America with our pal Brian Scotto of Rides. Their steed for the duration? A 400-horse STi prepped by Vermont SportsCar, featuring trick STi bits. Bonus? El Scotto will be kicking down daily updates from the road throughout the event, starting tomorrow. We get the feeling that given the significance of the start date, there will be mad tequila action, and were not talking Paul Reubens-style, either. Or maybe we are one never really knows with Scotto.

And here tis, in all its glory. The max-po, 400-horse Impreza that Ken Block and Scotto will hoon around the country in an attempt to take all comers in the Cannonball Baker One Lap of America. Best of luck, kids. We wish we could offer you a coke-n-hookers expense account, but we think only Denton and Lock have those. Benefits! The underling Gawkers demand additional benefits!

i think after travis flipped his rally car 8 1/2 times he should be alittle more tame...or he could be crazier considering he walked/jumped out of the car afterwards unharmed.

lets see him do that on a motorcycle and walk away. Go subie!

well, any douche can buy a huge house and a ferrari. but this dude has the dc mountain lab, rally team, gumball cars, etc. he does it right.
WRXedUSA 05-05-2006 11:24 PM

I agree fully. He is doing exactly what I would do with that kind of money.

I love it.
silver arrow 05-05-2006 11:29 PM

I'd be racing a pair of 911 GT3 rsr's with my dad if I was rich. But, what do I know?

I'm not rich. Are you rich? Guess it's tougher than it looks, eh?...
trhoppe 05-06-2006 11:24 AM

400hp will get you nothing w/o handling and POS 225 width tires won't do much for you either :)

This should definetly get some press/TV coverage for Subaru thought.

zzyzx 05-06-2006 11:32 AM

I appreciate all the race efforts, but how in the hell do you make a car that cool look so ghey?

What does this have to do with anything?
trhoppe 05-06-2006 11:39 AM

Reading Comprehension.

The article said "Travis' teammate". I think this guy read that Travis WILL be his teammate.

Ken's on a roll, leading the R-A national champiosnhip after 3 events and winning 100 Acre Wood.

http://www.dcshoes.com/home.asp?section=rallyVideo

He's been very fast and consistant this year, and has the car control skills to stay off the tire walls.
trhoppe 05-06-2006 01:14 PM

Oh I'm not saying he's a bad driver man. He's definetly out-carred though, and doesn't have a lot of tarmac experience. Hell, if they had a Dirt Oval like in 03, I know where I'd have my $$ ;)

-Tom
curious to see what happens

edit: Nice on the wet skidpad, 10th overall, top Subaru!
WRXRATED7 05-06-2006 02:38 PM

Looking good. I can't wait to see it in person at MAM tomorrow.

No tarmac experience? He was in the Gumball 3000 last year, doing 160-180 in a 426 whp STI that was even funkier looking. In fact, there were STI triplets.

Driving really fast in a straight line on a public road does not "tarmac experience" make

are you serious?

since when does the silly gumball mean anything.
trhoppe 05-08-2006 01:50 AM

AndrewSS - Please consult the member # to determine the relevancy of the post ;)

I've got a feeling something important broke to cause the engine to go down. "400hp" doesn't sound like the engine is being "pushed". Maybe the water or oil pump went down or something similar? While he's out of the running for a good finish, One Lap is about breaking stuff then getting it fixed ASAP and coming back to finish the event :)

Wow.

Kinda a bummer, Good luck guys, hope you get back up.
downshift1 05-08-2006 11:36 PM

I would be the one who swapped the engine early this morning (5am-ish), the original engine after the gruelling Gumball rally had finally started to have issues. We swapped it out and they were out the door by 8am. :)

Good luck to the guys!

right on man...
good lookin on hustling that together for them.

*also, i wouldnt doubt kens car control.. it comes to a point that although different aspects, driving is driving.. whether it be tarmac or gravel or snow.. its knowing a car.
although some strictly trained tarmac drivers may be faster, im sure he will do quite well.
big ups, ken..
nater 05-09-2006 08:02 AM

Good work on the engine pulling.
downshift1 05-10-2006 12:55 PM

Sean from VTcar came out with the engine to help speed up the install. :)
