Doesn't fit anywhere else so... STi Dash Cluster Installed
Look ma! Notice anything different? :D

I LOVE having the tach nice and big, and front and center where it belongs. KPH will be hard to get used to, but oh well... just have to remember that 50=30mph, 65=40, 90=55, 130=80, etc.
The gentleman I bought it from said it was new... how new you ask?

Yep, 8km (5 miles!) on the clock! It also has lots of fun idiot lights on it like a funky ((!)) instead of "brake" and lights for the IC Sprayer and Ice Warning. If you need a stock 2000 RS dash cluster because you broke yours doing an Indiglo install or (not sure if it fits or not) you want to replace the black faces on your 98, look in the private classifieds now... my old cluster will be for sale as soon as I can post it! Many thanks to Trey Cobb for getting it modified to work with the RS wiring harness! Mods page will be up shortly as well. See what happens when your alternator is blown and you have lots of free time :)?

Don't the gauges infront of your sti gauges annoy you there? I ask because I have to mount some gauges in my car, using same little summit racing gauge cup holders. I was going to mount them on the a-piller with custom brakets. Anyways that huge tac looks sweet, what is your car's red line?

nikkicalves, http://www.i-club.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=96166 :D. As for the location of the A/F and EGT gauges, it looks like they are in the way, but I'm tall and goofy (:)) so what I see is the whole tach, the speedo from 0 over to about 160kph (if I go over that, I shouldn't be looking down anyway ;)), the whole gas gauge, and the top 2/3 of the temp gauge. You'd have to be sitting in the car at my level, but I can see everything quite well :). As for the redline, the car is still on the stock engine and ecu, to be replaced by a different motor probably next spring/summer.

That's actually really nice. How was the installation process? Hard? Difficult? Did it come with some sort of a wiring harness, or did you have to figure this out?
| North Ursalia | 09-28-2001 10:48 AM |
The install is a breeze...

As for special harnesses and such? None necessary after Trey Cobb got done with it. I got it from one of the guys on the board, and Trey modified it to work with the RS harnesses. He sells them already modified as well. Now that the alternator is in the car and the battery is charged (had a little problem this week with that ;)) I can go learn to drive with kph :D.

Yeah, but I think I will try to find the gauge face conversion to mph all the same ;).
40kph = 25mph
50 = 30
65 = 40
90 = 55
105 = 65
120 = 75
135 =85
Been doing the math today ;).

I think the cop would have your car towed if you tried to pull that one :devil:

whats the point of having your STi cluster if you can only see 1/3 of it? :)
| North Ursalia | 09-29-2001 02:51 AM |
Check where the point of view of the camera is... I generally don't drive with my chin on the airbag :lol:. I'm 6'2" (maybe a little taller) and can see the gauges fine, as stated in my first reply after posting this thread ;) :).

Yep, Trey does still sell them pre-modified- it will still read in kilometers however, like mine does. I've got more gauges to come too... fuel pressure, oil pressure, and vaccuum/boost (hehehehehehehehe) :D.

Why does it only read to 180kms/hr? The stock RS speedo does that. I thought the STi read to 240kms/hr or so.
| North Ursalia | 09-30-2001 05:04 PM |
Because cars in Japan are limited to a top speed of 112mph (180kmh) by law. There is no need for it to be higher ;).
