Dont want to buy new rims, What do you think of this?

I dont really feel like buying new rims so i was thinking about painting my stock ones. Now this is a really crappy photoshop so keep that in mind, and the color would match the color of the car WRB.

Sorry, not really digging those. Why not plain and simple Duplicolor wheelpaint black or bronze?

really don't like the wrb wheels, no offense
| rally_on | 02-09-2006 03:29 PM |
i gunmetal looks great on WRB.
but if you were to do the blue, i think it would look a little better if you did the entire wheels the WRB color opposed to the big lip.
but id say bright gold or a dark graphite/gunmetal.
my .02
good luck painting the wheels :)

Duplicolor gold ;) I did this with mine awhile back and it looked awesome

Duplicolor Bronze.
It's damn sexy.
Gold wouldn't look too bad, either.

+1 for Duplicolor bronze.
The WRB wheels may be a little too much blue. But hey, try it if you want. You can always re-do the wheels later.

| N8WRX | 02-09-2006 06:31 PM |
heres a pic CRAPPY ps i did, this is just to get a idea of how it might look. keep in mind a CF hood and trunk will be on the car and im going for a black/wrb color scheme.

i think the general consensus is to leave the wrb on the body and keep it off the wheels. i have gunmetal on my wrb and absolutely love it. check out the wrb gallery and get some ideas.
| vf22-wrx | 02-09-2006 07:38 PM |
or you could do gunmetal wheels and have the lugs painted or something...other colored lugs are cool too...somewhat ricey...but there are some sweeeeeet subie's with them
| y0gfx | 02-09-2006 07:45 PM |
I like that last one. The general consensus is to to leave your wheels alone. Do what you want. Its your car...

There's a reason for that.
I just don't understand why someone would be willing to spend the money on a CF hood and CF trunk (also worthless mods, btw) and not be willing to spend $1000 or less on a set of decent wheels and tires. If the wheels were decent looking, they would look infinitely better than painted stock wheels.

wrb??!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! you will single handedly ruin the reputation of the subaru community

Then again, any mod can be a worthless mod. Supposing he isn't going to mod his car other than painting his stock rims, I don't see any harm. However if he's gonna be getting crazy body kits and various CF parts, then i wouldn't think it would be in right taste to stick w/ the stock wheels.

Just because someone doesn't like a particular mod doesn't mean it's worthless. It obviously meant something to him to have a CF hood and trunk instead of wheels. Just like the stock late-90s Accords I see running around town with gigantic aluminum spoilers and such. Definitely not what I would do, but it obviously does something for the owner of the car...
But I'd have to agree with y0gfx to a point. If there was a crazy full body kit on the car, I'd probably be incline to ask why spend all that $$ and time on dress-up without stepping up to wheels, too?
But for now, as the car is, paint the wheels whatever color. If there's a CF hood and trunk, I'd lean towards gunmetal. But hey, it's not my car. If the guy wants to paint the wheels a green and orange swirl, so be it. If I don't like it, that's my problem. If the owner likes it, it isn't worhtless.

You might as well take the Subaru badge off and put on a Honda badge. Jk. The stock wheels look fine as it is. Dont do anything to it
| N8WRX | 02-10-2006 12:48 PM |
haha ok, well ill take it as too much rice for you all. and the reaosn im getting
the CF trunk and hood is cause its costing me next to nothing, few hundred for both (friend) no there will be no body kit on this car, id say the biggest body mod i MIGHT do is a lip but thats it.

hood and trunk

hey man, thats a good deal to get a cf hood and trunk for a couple hundred dollars total, but i would have to say, that might like a little off with stock wheels, and I think would look totally off with stock wheels painted blue.
once you get the cf hood and trunk, btw the time you need new tires, just get new rims and tires...somethign to help compliment the aggressive look presented by teh cf pieces...but cf trunk and hood with stock rims and stock headlights (not jdm/edm/prodrive, etc.) might look funny to me.
but a deals a deal!

hmmmm. I aint sayen she's a gold digga....... I just can't decide, at first I was on board with everyone but I came back and looked again - if anything it is something I am yet to see and your version 2 is not that bad. It actually reminds me of some wheels on GT3 in the wheel shop  but anyway.. as someone said earlier. It is your ride and you decide. There will always be someone hating on an idea "you gotta do what you feel, do what you feel, do what you feel yeah do what you feel".....Q Tip

la la la la la la, la la la la la... thats the smurfs theme song. it would look like a smurf edition WRX.
| QSilberwrX | 02-10-2006 05:36 PM |
Go with the gold bro and get something else to match it - bronze is better for black/white cars in my opinion. WRB is the only color you can really get away with the golden wheels and not look like a jackash to the general public.
| Handsdown | 02-10-2006 05:41 PM |
bronze will look good too. i'd do bronze with a thin pinstrip of WRB around it if i were you... PINSTRIPE- NOT LIP.

Bronze? Flat finish?

Handsdown, do your wheels have a flat bronze finish, or is the lighting in the pic playing tricks on me? I thought your wheels had a metal flake look to them. I guess I'll go back to the How to Paint Your Stock Wheels thread and check...
edit:
Yep, I was wrong. They do look flat/dull (in a good way. I Like it.) I'll post questions for you in the How to Paint... thread. Thanks.
