Favroite F1 Team

I did a search and could'nt find any threads regarding this: What's your favroite F1 team?
I like the Williams F1 Team, probably the last "personally owned" old-school F1 team. McLearn owned by TAG, Tyerrll-BAR-Honda, Brabham-no more, Lotus-no mas, Ferrari-FIAT, ect. Just curious what people have as their favroites.

After reading a lot about F1 history Lotus was by far my favorite team. I wish so badly I could have seen them race on TV or even in person.
Colin Chapman and his creations facinate me. Especially the Lotus72/78/88 although the 88 never really competed the twin chassis deisgn was so genius.
I wish so badly I could have seen them race on TV or even in person.
As a kid I was very fortunate to have been able to go to the last few USGP's at Long Beach. I had an opportunity to see Frank Williams and Keith Duckworth talking with each other when my dad and I were in the garage area. At that time McLearn was my favroite because of the then-new CF composite chassis which is the industry standard now. My favroite driver at that time was Niki Lauda. He was back from a long retirement and in the top 5 in the points for the champioship.

That is an interesting photo... and here is why:
Notes from Long Beach 1981
On Saturday, yet another legal issue arose, with a protest being lodged by a majority of the teams against the new twin-chassis Lotus 88, although they did not specify what rules it was breaking! Though the car had been approved by the FISA technical staff and passed by the scrutineers, the appeal was allowed and the car was banned from the race.
So apparently the Lotus 88 was never raced, as Forix shows that Lotus raced the "Lotus 81" at that race, and for a few more races that season. They switched to the Lotus 87 later that season.

I do not have a strong passion for any one team... I like them all for their different charecteristics...
But I have developed a warm admiration for Sauber over the last few seasons. His budget has always been 2nd tier, or mid-level, and yet at times he has been able to put his team in the points through smart strategy and tactics, and smart efficiencies with limited resources.
I have always thought that BMW was attracted to Sauber by the Sauber wind tunnel, and "Albert", Sauber's super computer. (Ironically, the BMW is sponsored by Intel, yet their super computer is powered by AMD). I must confess I think it is cool that an F1 team is calculating their aero designs on a computer that consists of AMD processors running linux... But I would think that is cool, since the computer I'm using know has an AMD processor running linux. :p
At the same time, I have also been a fan of BMW... They are not the largest car company on the block, so for them to jump in and buy a team, it was probably wise to purchase Peter Sauber's team... Beemer/Sauber could be a very good team. (Hey, both cars scored points @ the British GP... 2nd time this year!)

Yea, that's cool, but how about winning two world championships with a stock block Buick V8 renamed a Repco in 1966 and 1967. Only team to win the championship with a driver of the same name, Jack Brabham. Ron Tauranac later the founder of Ralt, Gordon Murray of McLaren supercar fame and accelerated the motorsports career of a two bit used motorcycle salesman Bernie Eccelstone. Brabham mechanics snuck me into the pits at every race I went to before I had proper credentials.

One of the great innovators in F-1. Colin Chapman didn't invent the wing but was the first to use it in F-1, monocoque chassis, first to do away with a front mounted radiator on the wedge shaped Lotus 72, first to use the Cosworth engine, first to have major sponsorship from a non automotive field with John Player and invented ground effects.

you missed the first F1 car to use inboard brakes (lotus 72). :p I wouldnt say chapman invented ground effects either, just that he was the first to use the "wing in ground" design effectively in a car, he didnt even discover that either. I think Peter Wright did while designing the sidepods of an F1 car (read that somewhere but cant find it now).
i give colin huge props though for making the ground effects (wing in ground type) efficient, otherwise they would have just been another F1 pipe-dream.
as you can seem im obsessed with this stuff!!!

I'm new to F1 this year so I can't draw on much history for my picks but here goes:
I like Ferrari for 2 reasons. 1) I would really like to see someone beat Renault/ Alonso and make it more of a competition for the championship and Ferrari seems like the best bet to do this. I am aware of the irony of this as Ferrari has been dominant for so long. If I'd gotten into F1 a few years earlier I would have rooted for anyone but Ferrari -- how the times change. 2) I really want to see Michael Schumacher (sp) win another championship so that he might retire and really mix things up some more in terms of competitive teams. Although more competitive cars would probably make more of a difference than Schumi retiring.
The other team I really like is Red Bull / Torro Rosso. No real good reason, other than a odd draw to David Coulthard and the fact that Red Bull brought a car to Seattle for people to see I really cant explain why.
Still at a formative stage of deciding who I like and don't like, and I'm sure whom ever I do decide to root for wont really be grounded in any logic.

I liked McLaren Honda, because I first started watching F1 when they had both Prost and Senna. It was just amazing to watch them dominate the field, and have only each other to battle. And boy did they battle! I did take sides with the Professor though...
After that, I liked the Williams Renault. Though I never really liked Mansell or JV. It's just that the car was so advanced. That period was when we first started to see paddle shifters, active suspension, traction control, and launch control, and this car was the best of the lot. And to think, that technology has trickled down into cars we can go into the showroom and buy today.
I also liked Ferrari. They sucked back then, but they had Jean Alesi and he was my favorite driver for many years. I remember seeing him in the rain, and his skills were so amazing. Turns out his father was a rally driver. He was very talented, but he sometimes made some bone-headed moves and had some rotten luck. It was very frustrating to be a Jean Alesi fan. He only ever won one race.
It was much the same being a JPM fan. Though, I think much of the trouble JPM has comes from his lack of discipline. Nonetheless, Williams BMW was my team.
Now, I still like Williams, and I still like BMW (and whoever I have picked on my Fantasy F1 teams on any given weekend), but I'm only replacing my Williams BMW apparel with BMW Sauber gear. I'm also actually glad to see JV back in the game. I guess I've gone from following the dominant teams to supporting the underdogs (the ones that have potential anyways)...

Niki Lauda is my third for being good-having a life threating accident and coming back-then retiring and still able to race competivly!
Why Isnt This A Poll!!!!????
Too many teams to pick from :) ! Some people have favroites that don't exist (or for that matter, don't offically exist yet). For example, one of my old favroites is Tyrrell. My soon-to-be rooting for is Prodrive-a long way from just doing rally and automotive testing/design! :D

I've been a McLaren fan for the past 7 or so years now, but in 2008 I will be switching my allegiances to Prodrive :).
