LGT shift knob should have been ordered with the rest of the parts, would have made the swap look even better. Other than that, nice job, and this should be stickied in the Noobie Forum so they stop asking how to swap and what parts they need.

very nice! thought about doing this, but I got a triple gauge pod and moved the clock to my ashtray... so it would just be a major PITA to redo that all over again

HA no....search there is a GREAT thread on how to do it. Just a recap of what has to be modified:
- Ebrake mount needs to be cut
- Ebrake line needs to be modified
- 05 Radio Braket installed
- DCCD switchs need to be extended
- You need 05 door panels or a custom fab becuase the mirror switchs were moved.
Its not easy, yet its not hard, just takes money time and patients.

you didn't rewire your hvac did you? i'm wondering if it's in any way possible to do JUST the hvac swap... if it's possible at all to change from the '02-'04 hvac setup to the new big silver hvac knobs without doing anything else to the console... just looking into a possible project for the winter.
here's my thread:

DCCD only needs to be moved if you have an STi, Ebrake didnt need any mod at all??? thats wrong info, it was all completely bolt on accept for the Ebrake lines under the car needing to be moved, but its simple as hell.

Up date!!! There is a small metal bracket that holds the center Air vents really seccure! but its not totally nessary, (the vents hold them selfs in from the air ducting) I ordered it anyways because its only $2.40. Ill up date the first post with the part number.

I'm still partial to my 2002 interior, especially with all my aftermarket fixin's that are installed. But if I had a choice of a bone-stock 2002 interior versus what you've done, i'd definitely choose your setup! Great job!
| only1agam | 10-19-2006 11:56 PM |
does the center assembly (the center airvents including surrounding the hazard switch) just swap right into the 02-03 interior? i was curious of whether or not it does... and is the silver the same as the 02-03? i've wanted to swap that center assembly piece since my middle right airvent is broken.. plus its a good excuse to get the JDM red hazard button :D
| SedonaRed03WrX | 10-20-2006 12:30 AM |
Ya it just swaps rite out with no mods, & the holes in the air duct are the same and kinda hold it in place. You may want that metal mounting bracket that only cost $2.50 but its not a must have to install. & Its the exact same color! :D

I have a quick question... when you listed these parts:
SAAB
- 32007946 Console Instr Pnl **(This is the dash piece that the stereo and heater control mounts to) List $50.15
- 32007943 Panel Center Lwr **(silver trim that goes around the outside of the stereo and heater control) List $72.90
Is there a subaru part number for those? Because I know that the 2006 RS retains the same manual HVAC controls so the pieces should be the same. Is there a reason you went specifically through SAAB and not subaru to get those pieces? Seems like it would be less of a hassle to order all the parts from the same source at once instead of having to go through both subaru and saab.

Ive never been in an 06 or 06 RS at that. I was just out test driving a Saab 92 X and noticed that it would work. Its probly cheeper to, Saab parts seem to be cheeper than Subaru? But if you think its the same then Ill go look at some pics of cars for sale on the internet to confirm it.:D
how did you hook up the cruise control?
the 05 has 5 wires and my 03 had 3, and the 3 were the same color. So I cut the black connector off my old steering wheel, then cut the 3 wires on the blue 05 connector leaving the extra 2 wires still connected, and then connected the origional black connector to the wires from the new 05 Cruise switch. Sounds complicated but its way easy.

oh, also you need anything other than the airbag and wheel? I see some people selling with a clockspring and other stuff, do I need any of that?

If you can get it with the clock spring then its just plug and play, but the clock spring is expensive, if you can get it cheep then Id do it.

how u wire the mirror controls???
| vipernj | 12-17-2006 07:20 PM |
i did this mod and it looks 100 times better... definetly a must..
| SedonaRed03WrX | 12-27-2006 02:43 AM |
I havent mounted the mirror controls in the new console, Im not sure if Im even going to? Nobody but me ever really drives my car so they never need to be adjusted, I do have it plugged into the harness. Its just sitting under the console. So if I ever do need to move them, the trim around the shifter just pops up and I can grab the controler, I know it sounds like its a PITA but its not at all.

in the process of doing this :)
