Frankenterior Evo seats in my Subaru
Well I had an Evo, but being in college having a evo cost to much money. So I traded it in an got an 05 RS, but I missed those sweet Recaros. Also I hated my RS seats, so here they are Evo seats in a Subaru:

With the brackets I used the seats sit lower so not only did I get some sweet seats in but I lowered the center of gravity on my car. I love these seats.
iofdetiger 06-06-2005 03:30 AM

good lord! resize! looks good though.
Black-X 06-06-2005 03:37 AM

I love Evo seats too! Dare I say it, better than STi seats by far. :(
kheovnien 06-06-2005 04:06 AM

about the only thing that's nicer on the inside of evos compared to an sti...
Uncle Ben 06-06-2005 05:12 AM

How hard to mod it to fit?
99subi 06-06-2005 05:19 AM

OH MY resize those now sir  nah they look good i am a fan of the EVO seats
SurfRS 06-06-2005 06:53 AM

It was easy to fit them. I took the evo mounting hardware off the sliders. I bought a basic bracket from ebay for $16. I drilled new hole in the bracket to line up with the evo sliders and bolted them in. Also another cool thing is the seatbelt bolt is the same size on both the evo and subaru seats. All I had to do was take it off my stock seat and bolt it on to the evo seat.
SurfRS 06-06-2005 06:54 AM

how do I resize them if they are already in the post?
Uncle Scotty 06-06-2005 07:51 AM

delete them and re-host smaller, or re-host them smaller where you hosted .... and edit the link to the smaller pic in the first post.

what did you pay for the seats????
garie 06-06-2005 09:17 AM

sweet..how much did the pair cost you? or were they off your old evo?

I have thought about doing this b4. those seats are so comfy.
04RCSTI 06-06-2005 09:54 AM

how much are those??
I plan on getting a set and getting the blue section reholstered with sti blue alcantara...

But depending on the price I may be better off buying new seats altogether.
subi_2.5rs 06-06-2005 11:01 AM

yep evo seats are better than sti..hold you in better from experience....
Chank Frank 06-06-2005 11:44 AM

I might be able to get those seats for my car. ^_^
SurfRS 06-07-2005 02:36 AM

They cost me $325 from a member on socalevo.net. I looked for a while and finally found a deal I couldn't pass up and got them. I am so happy with these seats. No more back pain or numb ass from long trips. I drove up to Santa Barbra from San Diego and it was great. I love these seats.
SurfRS 06-07-2005 02:38 AM

The best thing about these seats it that the side bolsters are big and supportive, but the bas is softer and give you more freedom of movement. These are perfect for daily driving and the occational autox, track day or rallyx.

Really? You must be used to sitting on wooden benches. I dispise my STi seats, except for the fact that they look cool.
audio1der 06-07-2005 01:18 PM

Holly Giant Pics Batman!!!!!!!

Re-size so we can see them better...

These pics were taken at 6am after working on getting them in the car for several hours. My camera has a flash, but it really only works for close up shots. Let me know if you guys want some more pics and I will take a few tomorrow
prescottsti 06-13-2005 09:16 PM

Id like to see more pics
AndyH 06-14-2005 10:46 AM

Maybe a stupid question...but do these Evo seats have side-airbags?
projectrally 08-16-2005 10:26 AM

just about to do this to my 99 RS. The seats are in UPS's care right now...I'll post those pics when they're in!
Xymox 08-16-2005 10:43 AM

Looks good. But what about the back seats? Doesn't this setup clash with the rear seats?
Uncle Scotty 08-16-2005 12:28 PM

Oh I'm sorry, I had an opinion. My mistake.

Okay, since I'm about to do this, I just want to make sure I've got it right....

You used the stock EVO sliders? Then you custom drilled some universal brackets to make it all fit, right? Do you still have the measurements you took from the seat bottom to do this?
shemoves 08-16-2005 03:06 PM

Have sat in both, my preferences>
Comfort: STi
Durability of fabric/stiching: Evo
Cosmetics: STi (strongly dislike evo fabric pattern)
Performance: Evo (prolly STi if I were one of the 'fat americans' they designed them for though)

I have actually been quite surprised with the comfort levels from the STi seats. It just may be that they are new, but I hardly experience any of the 'long-trip' fatigue or lumbar pain that I normanlly do.

I guess this does not have much to do with the original post, but I felt and immediate need to defend when I read "Evo in Subaru" The Evo seats are prolly a lot better than the stockers from the RS...so kind-of props ;)
projectrally 08-16-2005 04:04 PM

I actually quite like my RS seats, but they're just worn out. Not great for long drives anymore, though they're going to be great video game chairs for my living room. Aww yeah Gran Turismo 4!

And i've gotta say, for my build anyway, the Evo seats are amazingly comfortable, and the STi seats are like sitting on a bench. I much prefer my 99 RS seats to the STi seats as far as comfort and performance. The only thing the STi seats really have going for them is that they're so damned pretty...but like I said, that's how it stacks for my body type. It's obviously not the same sentiment across the board.
John2.5RS 08-16-2005 05:39 PM

Ya
Must be nice to be a little person! I personally fit like a glove in sparco pro2000's and will be getting one as soon as possible. ;) Recaro's seem to be made for people under 6' tall (most euro's & asian, no offense) They have recaro's in VW's too and they are too snug for me in the wrong places but all body types are different. I would get the covered in a different fabric IMO. very durable though.
John2.5RS 08-16-2005 05:41 PM

BTW for reference
I'm 6'2" 195 35" waist. Anyone got an extra black Pro2000 lying around? :D
nate49509 08-16-2005 09:17 PM

Nice job. I love the EVO seats.
import111 09-18-2005 06:15 PM

Has anyone done this Evo seat into an STi swap? And if so, how much did it lower your seat from the origional STi seat position at it's lowest setting?

Ryan
beastSTI 09-18-2005 07:23 PM

Dude, its not going to be any different than an RS...
vipernj 09-18-2005 09:48 PM

thats awesome..good luck. a buddy of mine put 02 wrx seats in his del sol... i didnt think they would fit and I thought they would be too high but they were actually perfect.
JeffrWRX 09-19-2005 08:38 PM

My ass has grazed these seats....very comfy and look great in the RS.

akinasdevil 09-20-2005 10:06 AM

I agree the EVO seats are very comfy and hold you in a lot better than the STi seats, but I guess it all depends on body type. For me the EVO seats fit almost perfectly and would be the way to go but I don't have it in me to change the STi seats out, they're just too nice looking.
bluestone 09-20-2005 12:04 PM

very cool!
i really wanted to put Evo seats in my WRX but 1) i couldn't find any for sale at the time 2) did not know how to get the right brackets & didn't want to fabricate 3) feel like they would be a little on the stiff side for long trips 4) fabric pattern is kind of

that is a nice set up though. i got STi V8 seats instead, and now switched to V7 seats. the fit seems to be very similar, just softer cushions

Where'd you buy 'em?
vadim 09-20-2005 08:39 PM

do they have side air bags?
import111 09-20-2005 08:49 PM

No, the Evo Recaros do not have side airbags.

SurfRS 09-21-2005 06:20 AM

Well it has been a fews months since the install and I still love them. Everytime I get in my car I am in love with these seats again. The best is when I am tired and sore and I sit down and just feel relaxed, wraped in suede. Best Mod I have ever made!! My RS may lack the power my Evo had but alas I still am driving an AWD car with sweet recaro seats and now I get better gas mileage.
import111 09-22-2005 12:10 AM

I just got home from driving an Evo and I didn't like the seats. They hunched me forward to much. I am back to square 1 again.

Ryan
