Front Emblem on Trunk? part 1

MidnightBlackPearl 10-06-2005 11:25 PM

Front Emblem on Trunk?
Hey, if I were to swap my front emblem with one of those "i" badges, would I be able to put the original front emblem onto my trunk? Like on the 06's, I would debadge the SUBARU letters then stick the subaru emblem in the middle. Anyone know or think they know?
FlyingFishSandwich 10-07-2005 09:43 AM

I think I don't know.

You should get one of those ford emblems that covers the key hole on the trunk but moves out of the way to allow access and swap the ford emblem for the subaru emblem then cover your trunk lock with it.
o2sys 10-07-2005 11:26 AM

it would work with enough double sided tape but the front emblem is flat, the trunk surface is curved...so it would fit that nicely but yea it will work...i just got the 06 trunk badge from subiegal.

i think im the first one to do this (well the first one to be public =)):

FWIW, I like it.
a lot.
enewtabie 10-07-2005 11:30 AM

Nice..I may have to do that..
I debadged mine,but I dunno..its so plain.

That's exactly what I'm trying to do, but rather than ordering a new badge, I guess I'll try and see if I can recycle the other first. Looks very good by the way, just makes me want to do it even more now.
odeezie 10-07-2005 01:45 PM

how well would this work on the wagon? (since the trunks are so much more curved) I'd REALLY like to do this but not debadging "subaru" until I know it'll work.
aren040 10-07-2005 01:48 PM

I dont really like it too much, I think it would look better near the key hole or something. But hey to each his own.
enewtabie 10-07-2005 06:48 PM

I think I may do this in the next week or so.
IIdiceII 10-07-2005 07:28 PM

Im waiting to see someone put the I badge on the trunk like the threadstarter said. That would look cool.
civilone 10-07-2005 09:01 PM

I think the badge is weird because the trunk is so big. But it looks fine on a legacy because the trunk space where the badge sits is narrow.
ekw 10-08-2005 09:12 AM

IIdiceII,
i don't think that's what he said.
Hey, if I were to swap my front emblem with one of those "i" badges, would I be able to put the original front emblem onto my trunk?
i am pretty sure he meant "i" in front, "stars" on the trunk.
Ghost Rider 10-08-2005 09:37 AM

if you do it, i would would lower it some, more towards the center. it looks odd up that high
mindchatter 10-08-2005 01:18 PM

Hey - aren't there posts of some sort sticking out of the back of that badge? Is there adhesive as well? Did you just hacksaw the posts off and sand them down, or what? It looks great. I've been meaning to do this....
Subie Gal 10-08-2005 04:17 PM

there are 2 posts in the rear 06 badge
thus, if you remove this badge on an 06 there are 2 gaping holes

to put an 06 badge on an 05 or older,
you need to file down the posts smooth them out before installing.

there are sedan and wagon specific badges

ribbed....for her pleasure...
Subie Gal 10-08-2005 05:20 PM

actually those look like the OEM bumper protectors
painted white

and all 4 on the rear bumper rather than 1 on each bumper corner
they're adhesive backed/stick on

interesting idea.
wrb2006sti 10-08-2005 07:10 PM

nice it looks alot like the 06 now
ittybitty_STI 10-08-2005 10:03 PM

Id like to see that same thing on a CF trunk. Just to see how it looks.

thanks for the badge subie gal! and also no does arent OEM bumper gurads, some aftermarktet ones that come white (the entire rubber is white not painted) and yea it did come with 3M tape to slap it on, works great, def. need them for NYC street parking

Yeah, that is what I originally meant, but the "i" badge on the trunk doesn't sound like a bad idea either.... Just waiting for it to come in from Gruppe-S so I can try this out...
Subie Gal 10-09-2005 11:09 AM

the I badge is a pee wee (size wise) compared to the rear trunk badge

not sure it will look right - but yeah! someone try it! :D

Jamie
o2sys 10-09-2005 11:34 AM

yea the front badge is small compared to the rear badge, plus the 06 rear badge has this cool design/texture look a like thing in it

I tried that with the I badge about a year and a half ago...It looked ridiculous..I didn't bother taking pics... :o
bushflyr 10-09-2005 12:50 PM

Not exactly what the original poster had in mind, but one other option. Sorry for the lousy pic, it's raining right now.

Did u paint ur key hole black?? ANyways i like it...
BeetchoGarcia 10-09-2005 01:13 PM

That looks pretty cool....I had it in the middle---bad idea.
MasFry 10-09-2005 01:24 PM

I would like to use the pink star badge on the front and the rear.

but like other posters said its just to small compared the size of the trunk.

is it going to be available to get the 06 style rear emblem in pink?
vwown3d 10-09-2005 01:48 PM

black keyhole?
bushflyr 10-09-2005 02:51 PM
black keyhole?
Rustoleum. Previous owner didn't like silver, and I heartily agree.
Chonojake 10-09-2005 04:35 PM

Not a bad Idea and kind of cleans up the rearend.
MidnightBlackPearl 10-09-2005 09:20 PM

I guess I didn't realize how tiny the front badge was.... Yeah, it's probably not gonna look too good then; maybe I can find somewhere else to put it

My GF's dog is like that, he looks great too, but he wasn't happy about the procedure.
