what should I replace the clock with?

I couldnt get the clock to work in my car, so I broke it, cause thats just how I ball. Now I have like a 3.5x1 inch opening where the clock was. I saw somebody who got the sweet little clock/temp/voltmeter from radioshack, but it has since been discontinued. Just wondering if anybody has done anything else with the spot, suggestions or what you have done would be sweet. I appreciate it everybody

Someone here put a Radio Shack thermometer/clock thing in there. Looked stock too.
But I do have to add that when you said "That's just how I ball" I almost spit Lemonade all over my keyboard.
On another note, I went to UTK in fabulous Knoxvegas. It's a nice place to live.

i think you can fit a turbo timer with a bit of trimmin, i think that would be the best bet
| living4surf | 01-13-2006 02:43 PM |
i have the radioshack voltmeter in there. if that one has been discontinued i have seen a few others just like it just seach around and im sure you could find on just like it if that is what you want to do.
| JBravo920 | 01-13-2006 02:44 PM |
ive already got my turbo timer next to my cup holder is my problem, i was thinking about that earlier too, but then id have to get a new cover for that piece. good advice though, if i didnt already have one it would have been done probably.

You have gauges? I have my boost gauges wiring coming though the hole where the clock was. I put a small ss plate and "brushed" it to match the dash. Then I drilled a hole in the center and put in a gromet. I ran my Omori Guage wiring through it and mounted it in an APEXi gauge strap/holder. It looks so sick and I've never seen anyone else do it. It looks like when people mount a tach on the dash except the wiring is all hidden. It's still one of my favorite DIY mods.

Do you have a pic phone? I'm at work and can't post up pics from here. I'll sent you a pic on your phone or email from my phone if you want. They won't be great quality but they show the point.

I had the stock lamco gauges there before, hated the oil temp sensor in the drain plug and didnt really like the gauges, so I decided Id get a clock and just put in a boost gauge, its in a pod next to the a pillar though. Ill just keep looking for the radio shack one I guess, or maybe Ill figure something else out

I agree, it looks very cool, and Ive got the stock gauge pod already, i was just enjoying the cleanliness of the clock piece going flush with the dash, so i was kind of wanting to keep it. Also, I live in TN and cant say as I have ever wondered about the elevation here, so it would just be there for looks really.

Not expensive at all, looks to be about $140 on clearance from GenuineSubaruParts, kinda truckish, but still neat.
edit: that's for the gauge plus the housing, just search the part numbers

for some reason everyone thinks im rich...thats a lie, my car payment is $418.52 a month on top of $190 for insurance, then gas...i was kind of looking for the $25-$50 fix on this one, all those ideas are sweet and would "rock the partay!" but just kind of out of my ballpark

Radioskack did discontinue the one that many of us did, including myself, however, they only replaced it with a newer model that will still work just fine. Youll probably want to paint the housing it comes in so its not a bright silver piece behind the black/grey dash trim panel. Should still be between 18-24 bucks depending what radioshack you go to.

You should replace it with the factory clock...it's so 1985! You certainly aren't up to speed on what's hot....retro in cars is all the rage! P.S. Make sure you pick up some fuzzy dice too. :D

I put a Scanmaster 3 in the clock location

I also put a button on the console between the seats to make it easy to toggle though the modes

Agreed! Nicely executed.
I saw a trick LED shift light (somewhere in the vendors forum) that had a dozen or so vertical bars going from green to yellow to red (left to right). It would fit nicely in there. That would be different.
