GC8 body kit decision

For starters I got an 01 white GC8 Impreza, savin up to do the mortor/tranny/clutch/diff swap for power (probably WRX swap). But as far as looks go I think the current style is to boring. I want something clean, but not fast and the furious (sorta euro looking) I am thinking about these body kits. Tell me what you think, if you don't like I'm open to suggestions
Kit #1 http://www.autostyling.uk.com/body_kits.asp?brand=SUBARU&kit_name=Impreza%20STORM%20WIDE this kit costs $3134. in American dollars and has to be shipped from England (unless I can find one closer) I don't like ALL the mesh though.
Kit #2 http://www.bodykits.com/fullview.php?id_no=24840&view=OK&unit_price=765&option_price=765 this costs only $765, I wouldn't put on the roof or giant hood scoop though, and I don't know it this kit comes with the full front bumper or if you need to use an RS bumper to work off of.
I'm open to other suggestions, just don't call my choices retarded.

does anyone else know of a company that makes flared fenders that are not 22b style? Or any other car that I can do to the junkyard and freinkenstien up to my car?
| Nicklbrso | 02-19-2005 06:53 PM |
The 1st kit is 2F2F for me. The 2nd one aint bad. If I were you I would paint the sideskirts, add a front lip and some spats on the back.
| 11rex06 | 02-19-2005 06:59 PM |
erebuni (the 2nd one) is the WORST kit builder. bad fitment, bad quality. you would sepdn a lot more fixing it up for fitment than buying something authentic.
which don't you search some vendors and get a full stiv4-6 kit, i can't imagine it to be more than $2000 - but you have perfect fitment and oem quality!

i think they both suck nuts and are ricey as hell
as for clean and not fast and the furious. rethink this car. if you want to make it like a wrx. go jdm like a wrx.

Damnit, the GC8 is one of very few cars that looks better with factory body work than with a kit...!

um thinkin just lower the car and by some oem bumpers for the 2.5rs they look so danm good !!!!!!1

oh so awful, both of them...my $0.02

I think aeromotive is the one who makes/is making the widebody kit, it's expensive though.
Both the kits are horrid, first one is the worst.
Go for a factory front lip, some rear spats, and call it good.
(and you dont have a GC8, go read the FAQ's)

Amen to that.
JDM styling is the was to go for scoobies.
Unless you can get the super exclusive parts from Burn-Up.

yeah, the STi v6 front end is by far the best looking in my opinion. there are some widebody front fenders i have seen with the OEM bumper cover, and the doo look good. search not just for widebody, but for "bubble fenders" there are a few that are nice.
IMO, go with STi v6 bumper cover, and either OEM (02-03)WRX lip, or a v6 lip, and a complimenting v6 grill. it looks damned sexy, especially in white. i can email you a few pics if you want, not of my car, but other white RS's that i've seen that look good.

The first kit makes the car look like a fatter evo 4, looks really really weird. If you want some variety from the MY99-01 RS front then maybe the STi sport bumper. http://www.takakaira.com/ check it out, pretty much 90% of whats available for the GC. IMHO, the V4 or V5 bumper with a good lip is the way to go. If you want to dish out a couple grand for a bodykit, I say 22B all the way.
The pinnacle of the GC is handsdown the 22B.

ok, let me see what a STI V6 bumper-cover and a v 6 lip looks like in Aspen white. I assume I would need to get a RS front bumper for this, right? and side skirts, but what about the rear end?
And god no I am not going with the 22B style, Just dosen't look natural on the car, looks like someone put M80'S under all the fenders of a stocker and lit them off

(STI v6 front = STi v5 front (plus holes for lip) = 99+ RS front bumper)
So find an Aspen white RS with a STi lip. RS side skirts, and some V6 rear spats.

How about something like this (the front bumper and lip v4) , http://www.we-todd-did-racing.com/wetoddimage.wtdr?i=wMzU4MTM1NnM0MTNkZmQzMXk1NDE%3D I could probably get it for like $550

thats looks pretty good actually (how much $$$ going from an L to that?) what do you think about this for like $550 (front bumper and lip) http://www.we-todd-did-racing.com/wetoddimage.wtdr?i=wMzU4MTM1NnM0MTNkZmQzMXk1NDE%3D

for the second kit I first posted, (#2) does it look like the kit comes with the full front bumper or does it need a RS front bumper to work off of (is it just a lip?)
| rabbitnutz | 02-20-2005 01:26 AM |
going from an L to an RS front bumper needs 3 basic things, bumper beam, bumper cover, and wiring harness/signals. (4 if you count the foglights or foglight covers)usually you can find someone who upgraded to a lightweight bumper beam to sell you their stock RS beam for cheap. a new bumper cover costs ~$175 bucks. don't know what the signal lights or harness' cost.
the second link you posted is a front lip for a version 3 (i think) JDM Sti bumper, sideskirts, and a rear bumper. if you want a nice subtle look, i would do a search for some rear spats on either a USDM stock bumper, or if you feel like spending $texas, a v6 rear bumper.

Hehe, thats an L actually, right now lets see.
That bumper you see there was destroyed by my brother, a while ago.
Its just a stock v5 right now.
v5 grille
rear spats
rs sideskirts
My99 rs wheels w/dunlop sp5000's
Cusco Zero-1's
Front CF STi strut bar
Rear STi strut bar
cusco adjustable rear sway
V6 spoiler
jdm tails
jdm 4 pot fronts
Wrx rears to go on soon
and a hell of a lot of little misc bits and pieces.

Then why do I see CF fenders avaible for new body/WRX, I'm talking about the full front fenders, from the front turn signal to the door, that has to weigh well over 1 lb, right?

There's not much that looks truly GOOD on the GC, in my opinion.
1. STi V6 underlip
2. 22B bumper replacement (Rallispec carries them)
3. STi Spec-C (I think??) underlip from the new-age cars (It fits with minor mods.)
4. Prodrive P1 lip
Yep, that just about does it. I'm not much of a fan of the rest.

i dunno bout the GD's but I'm holding mine in my hand right now, and even with the sidemarker light shaved and a piece of sheet metal welded in the hole that used to be there;), it is still very, very light. maybe not less than a pound, but very light indeed...2lbs, maybe 3 @ the most.

kit #1 is puke , kit #2 is made in Italy by a company called Lester and it's just a lip not a full bumper ,
IMO i would go for the 22B off E-bay if you have 2 Door :D :D
