GOOD looking license plate frame?

Is there one? The rear plates look kinda silly with just the bare plate sitting there...

Don't buy any of the ones from www.autorice.com. The lettering is stickers and they start to wear off after about 2 months.

Why not just get a blank one from R&S Strauss? That's what I have on my car.
| pmartell12 | 04-12-2003 06:36 PM |
I also had a set from autorice, and the letters were fine, but the rust was brutal. Now I have smoke plate protectors.

^ where did you get the smoke plate protectors?
| pmartell12 | 04-12-2003 09:18 PM |
Judah, I got my plate protectors from Pure Power in Sarnia, On, Canada. They darken the plate to help it blend with the tinted windows.

:)
Expensive, but the quality's there.
I want to order at least one, probably for the front, though. No bugs get plastered on the rear plate. :D

I've got black aluminum (plain with no writing) brackets on the front & rear. I also have the anti-laser plate cover in the front & the anti-photo radar plate cover in the rear. Haven't gotten a photo radar ticket yet.
| pmartell12 | 04-13-2003 06:26 PM |
dorifto88, i went through a few electronic toll booths, and have not had to pay yet, i don't know if it's the plate protector, or because i hit the brakes to throw off the picture timing.

I'm not sure if the anti-laser plate covers work. However, I have yet to get a ticket.
I am pretty sure the anti-photo covers work. If I get to a fairly oblique angle from the side or above I can't read my rear plate. From straight on at roughly eye level you can easily read it. I also live near a photo radar rich environment (Alexandria, VA).

in your opinion...its worth it to get those?
so would i still need a frame to hold those in?
or can i just order those to put on the plate?

I'm pretty happy with the anti-photo one on the back plate. I could probably do without the anti-laser one if I needed to. My plate frames are simple metal black ones that don't attract attention.
| phototek60 | 04-23-2003 09:56 PM |
I have silver aluminum (kind of like brushed aluminum, nice flat look) ones w/ clear covers that I got from autozone. I think they look great, not too eccentric.

could it be lightspeed_auto? They also sell Matte Black frame with WRX brushed engraving sticked to the frame. That would be better against rust.
anyway, here's my license plate from my sponsor

I saw a review on those and apparently they dont work. They even tried the anti photo cover and the reflective spray both on the same time and still didnt work. The idea seems to make sense... oh well...

All I can say is that the one I got from autorice looks really nice (i.e., simple black WRX logo on silver background) and has yet to show one single sign of rust after one full summer and one hell of a salt/ice/snow battered winter here on the east coast of canada. Autorice sells two kinds, chrome plated and stainless steel... I got stainless steel. Not saying you should buy one from them but they are cheap and I have no complaints whatsoever.

I like the humorous sayings you can have engraved here: http://www.autoplates.com/ki06000.htm.
The list to choose from is here: http://www.autoplates.com/Sayings.htm. My favorite is "IF YOU CAN'T RUN WITH THE BIG DOGS STAY ON THE PORCH". Makes sense for Scooby owners
