Help with Japanparts order part 1

digitalmethods 03-16-2006 10:18 AM

Help with Japanparts order
I am trying to get an STi hoodscoop and I saw them on sale at japanparts.com. The part number is 009-478-003 and the item has a note stating that I may need 009-478-003 to complete the install. Has anyone ordered this though them? I don't want to buy unessecary parts if I can just swap out the parts off of my oem wrx scoop. Can someone look at this and help me clarify the answer. I figured that since it was an exterior mod I would post it here. Here's the best link I can get. www.japanparts.com
My main question is what is the 009-478-004 and do I need it?
BTW I have a bugeye model.
BrysImpreza 03-16-2006 10:28 AM

You have to email or call them, they are not the easiest place to order from as they are a true importer, I almost had to pick up a package from the airport, but found it on ebay instead.
WR^2X 03-16-2006 10:29 AM

They have a search box that says "our parts number" that tells you exactly what that part is. It says "inside duct," which I am assuming is the rubber seal. You don't need that, but it's certainly helpful. Then again, doesn't the WRX already come with one? The other thing it could be is the splitter, which again, will be helpful, but not necessary. Either way, you're good to go with just the scoop.
digitalmethods 03-16-2006 11:15 AM

I was just going to get the scoop and switch the seals from my wrx scoop. That's what I wanted to be sure of. I did email them but even then sometimes their answers can be unclear. I've ordered from them before and it can be a little tricky. As far as a splitter I was going to buy one anyways. I'll prolly see if I can find a Zerosport one or something along those lines.
WR^2X 03-16-2006 11:19 AM

Why not order from Gruppe-S?
1. They speak english
2. They have free shipping
3. Your parts will get to you much faster.
PARANOID56 03-16-2006 11:40 AM

because japan parts is like 45bucks cheaper (not including shipping)

Shane
WR^2X 03-16-2006 11:42 AM

Well yeah, but once you factor in shipping, they're going to be about the same... This is why I went with Gruppe-S for my JDM fogs, instead of Japanparts.
digitalmethods 03-16-2006 12:28 PM

I am getting an extra 15% off of my japanparts order. I haven't ordered yet. I'm just shopping. Thanks for the tip though. I forgot to check out Gruppe-s.
japanparts 03-16-2006 10:37 PM

Correct; we are offering a 10% discount on all Genuine Subaru parts and STi parts until March 27th, AND an additional 5% credit on our website pricing for everything ordered through our shopping cart until then

Email me direct for anything you may require

I can vouch for this too. I ordered rear spats for my 05 STi and they got here in 2 days... FROM JAPAN. I've never encountered faster shipping.

JapanParts replies; if you take advantage of our current 10% sale:

US$90.00 for 009-478-003 ( unpainted)
add US$27.70 for Global priority to the 48 States, HI and PR;

Total: US$117.70

US$117.70** that's at todays exchange rate; our Website pricing is based on JPY/Yen and indexed against US$/Euro/UK pound, etc, + exchange rates change dailly**

By using our shopping cart Secure checkout, you will get another 5% discount on the Parts price (US$4.50) you can offset against any future order you make from us

009-478-004 is an inner duct + rubber seal, which is optional; you can still install the larger intake without it

Most companies tend to shutter off around the fourth year. A lot of people don't realize Japanparts.com has already established themselves as a reliable parts dealer after satisfying customers for nearly a "decade". They aren't some new company trying to build a name, they've had one for quite some time now, and that certainly speaks for something.

Most companies don't survive their first 24 months from startup ( any company Accountant can confirm that )

We've been exporting since 1991; our JapanParts.com website has been up since April 1998, at the same place + with the same ownership

We have tried to set, and maintain, a high standard of service and 100% honesty from the get-go

Happy customers like yourself have always been our greatest resource

Graham - Question for you. I was looking at the JapanParts website the other night in search for JDM 02-03 projector headlights. I went through most of the checkout process without actually going through with the order, just to see what shipping was going to bed, etc. The price of the lights is $651.18, and shipping would be $103.52 to my door it says (so a little over $750). It says 10-15 days shipping - is that correct? The only reason I am holding off on ordering is because of the wait time... my car is at the body shop and I need the lights ASAP, so I don't think I could wait 10-15 days unfortunately. If it gets shipped as fast as you/everyone says it does (3-5 days) then I would be more likely to order them. You can hit me with a PM if you'd like...... thanks

117.00 unpainted sounds good to me. Is that inner duct + seal the same part that I could transfer from the oem wrx scoop?

AFAIK, from US owners that have done the install ( and from comments made on this forum ), you don't need the seal or internal vent; you can use what you already have

It's a long weekend here and I will be away until Tuesday

Email me [emailprotected] with your PAYPAL account and I'll send you an invoice, OR use the Secure shopping cart on our site and that will generate an Order number ( and your part will be ordered same day)

Let me know if you have any other Qu's

Never knew about that website. What kind of costs are we looking at for shipping the scoops from Japan to the US? Just wondering cause there are quite a few things on that site that are priced incredibly well, but I don't know if the price over here is due to the cost of shipping.

If you follow the Secure shopping cart/checkout on JapanParts.com, any quantity of parts will automatically calculate to destination ( you are under NO obligation to buy, and you can save an estimation on our database for up to 10 days )

If you use our shopping cart to buy something; this will automatically give you a total including shipping; generate an Order number and give you 5% discount on parts pricing you can use on any future order with JapanParts

Part number 009-478-003 links here:

http://www.japanparts.com/db/partslist.php?dealer=&car=&middlesmall=&maker=&volkey=009-478-003

Just hit the Shopping cart button and follow on from there; choose your delivery area, and that will automatically generate a total

You can add/remove items from the shopping cart and freight will automatically calculate depending on what quantity and final destination

Alex;
pass; there's a long weekend here this weekend and we won't reopen until Wednesday 22nd, too late to process your Order today.

Suggest that 10-15 days is as good as we can do as businesses will be closed our side ( including Subaru )

Thanks for your enquiry nevertheless

another A+ satisfied customer here. Just got my JDM Bugeye STi Grill today. Super fast, they got it on the 28th, and its here on the 31st, can't beat that. Faster than any online vendor, about 2/3rds the cost, and they're about 6073.24 miles away from me :)

Thanks for your kind comments about JapanParts.com

Sorry, under-invoicing is illegal and could cause you a ton of trouble your side ( and ours! ) The Net has made value of products transparent; if the Taxman wants to know what something is really worth ex-Japan, it's not too hard for them to find out

Our Company policy has always been that we don't undervalue invoicing; we did at one stage have an employee that was unaware of this; and they have since left the company

There are only two Certainties in life, D**th and T*xes ( *Bad words edited *)
