man - jumping all over the place

I spent my weekend at the SEMA and VW shows - what a bad choice that was
Tensen 04-10-2006 11:31 AM

yeah...cars parked, or cars flying through the air....hmmmm :)
infantsam 04-10-2006 11:33 AM

Did you happen to see the grassrooots car?
Tensen 04-10-2006 12:41 PM

yup

infantsam 04-10-2006 01:34 PM

nice

Obviously they have help but they sure make it look easy to get something going pretty quick and easy for nothing
GRMPer 04-10-2006 01:47 PM

We didn't actually have that much help. Even if you count the help from our advertisers, we have less than 7k in the car total. I could easily build another for under 6k with the lessons I've learned.

We finished tied for 19th overall. And yes, every stage was done on RE92A tires. the "A" stands for "Awesome"

vintagemilano 04-10-2006 03:09 PM

Ya, 19th overall but first in class! Pretty cool. Hope you keep up the good work.

Favorite quote of the tarmac weekend:

"Tarmac rallies are Irish cocaine"
akuhner 04-11-2006 01:16 PM

And yet the Irish guys didn't go crazy, no big crashes! There were a few times over the weekend where the ambulance pulled up to the start of the stage with lights on and I had my heart in my throat, but it turned out they were just there as an extra 'bus' after other stages went cold.

I'm still looking forward to my first gravel rally (probably RNY in Sept), but I'd do another tarmac rally!

Not going to run the STPR or MFR?
Not going to run the STPR or MFR?
Prah-blee thinkin' the same as me; not wanting to buy an RA license and only get route instructions....

But, I'll let Alex chime in.
bjorn240 04-11-2006 04:19 PM

^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Bzzzt. Try again, baby! Besides Peter has more than enough coefficients to let them run on notes. I can't tell you the real reason, though, since I don't want to scoop Alex.

But, REDrum, if it's really notes that's keeping you away from RA events, PM me, and we'll see if we can't solve that. I'll buy you an RA license, too, if you do STPR and Maine. I'm just that nice.
akuhner 04-11-2006 07:25 PM

The real reasons I probably won't do STPR or MFR are:
A) $$$
B) My car would be open class in RA
C) $$$
D) My wife and I are having a baby in October, which costs money.
E) Did I mention money?
;)

Congratulations Alex
Jonnyfilmboy 04-11-2006 08:42 PM

Holy lack of advertising, batman! I had no idea there were tarmac rallies in the US.

Thanks for the pics. Who do you shoot for?
XenoWolf 04-11-2006 10:07 PM

Rally Tennesee and the Reno Rally are also going to be tarmac rallies..
XenoWolf 04-11-2006 10:15 PM

Jonnyfilmboy 04-12-2006 12:40 AM

Thanks! Road trip!

Xeno, I like the look of your pics...what equipment are you using?
Howl 04-12-2006 12:53 PM

Isn't there a Subaru commercial like this?:

Nice pictures! What happened to the evo that was in the 2nd pic?
XenoWolf 04-12-2006 05:49 PM
Xeno, I like the look of your pics...what equipment are you using?
Canon Elan 7N with a Canon f/1.4 50mm lens (w/ Kodak HD and Fuji Superia film). I used a 1-hour photo place to get these done, which was stupid . Next time I hope they'll be better quality.
