Hungary hungary Hungaroring part 1

artkevin 07-25-2005 05:06 PM

Hungary hungary Hungaroring
Might as well get this started.
The race is back on Speed as well the rest of the ramaining races so either set your TiVO or wake your butt up.
My guesses:
1. Kimi (Always fast)
2. JPM (Has the speed but "lets" Kimi go)
3. Fernando (Chugging along)
4. Fisi (Has to do well soon and has the car)
5. Webber (Williams aero sucks but this is not an aero track)
6. Schumacher (trying not to get lapped like a few years back)
7. Button (has no idea where he is going or how to get there)
8. Coulthard (staying on pace)
Wr4wrX 07-25-2005 07:41 PM

My picks:

P1. Alonso
P2. Kimi (He goes out first in quali on a dirty track. He's gonna have to blaze his hot lap.)
P3. JPM
P4. Jense
P5. Fisi
P6. M. Schumi
P7. Trulli
P8. DC
johnfelstead 07-25-2005 09:22 PM

I recon Ferrari will kick ass at this track, followed by BAR then Red Bull then McLaren.

(prepares to be totaly wrong  )
Wr4wrX 07-27-2005 09:06 PM

I finally signed up for the impreza.net Pick 6 group. I dunno why it took me so long. Anyway, I'm under Peter Lapin.
MattDell 07-27-2005 10:34 PM

My picks/guesses:

Kimi Raikkonen
Fernando Alonso
Michael Schumacher
Juan Pablo Montoya
Giancarlo Fisichella
Jenson Button
Reubens Barrichello
Ralf Schumacher
I've finally given up on Takuma Sato being in the top 8. :o

slikrik05 07-27-2005 11:53 PM

btw were any of you guys at the last USGP and have recieved your letters from michelin and IMS yet? I heard they were supposed to send those letters out a week after July 19. I have an account with IMS, made it when I bought tickets, but its been a week and I still haven't gotten my letter. Has anyone gotten their's?

5. Webber (Williams aero sucks but this is not an aero track)
I disagree, I thought the Hungaroring was a max downforce track? Aero is very important here.
grandpa rex 07-28-2005 06:46 AM

Hey MattDell, I'm giving up on Sato too.

Here's my picks:

1. Alonso
2. Montoya
3. Raikkonen
4. MS
5. Fisi
6. Button
7. DC
8. Ralfie
I disagree, I thought the Hungaroring was a max downforce track? Aero is very important here.
Huge down force is needed but there are no high speed turns. I think you just crank on as much wing as possible a la Monaco and floor it. The Williams' came in 2nd & 3rd in Monaco so thats were my pick came from.

Are you guys following this Buttongate part deux?
Its driving me insane. Now that Williams is going with customer Cosworth power for 06 Button wants to stay and BAR and is reportedly willing to PAY WILLIAMs to do so. I like JB but he needs to make up his effing mind.

I like BAR and Button is a great driver, I hope he stays. BAR just needs to get their act together.
Dussander 07-28-2005 04:03 PM

Funny how all 4 drivers interviewed today said they prefered single lap qualifing.

Also, I found this interesting since I missed the first part of the race:
(Peter Windsor F1 Racing) Jenson, if you had not spent two thirds of the race behind Michael you would probably have been second in Hockenheim. He passed you on the outside of the first corner, over the white line, on the wrong side of the white line, against the specific instructions of the race director. What is the relationship between breaking a rule like that and breaking a technical infringement? And what sort of precedent does that set for the future anyway?
JB: I think the problem there is that it is so easy to do, to run off the circuit there, and it is very unusual that we get fined or we get a penalty or anything. It is a difficult situation. Michael was alongside me into the corner. But he knew that if I took my racing line, he could drive off over the white line and onto the run-off area, so it gave him a lot more commitment going into the corner. I think it is something we definitely need to look at because it can change the race for somebody if youre able to do that. I also saw it happen at the hairpin on lap one. I dont know who it was but somebody - I think it was a Red Bull went round the outside of somebody and was able to come on in front of them, I think it was round the outside of Giancarlo and again didnt get a penalty so it is something we need to look at, because it is not using the circuit.
artkevin 07-28-2005 04:22 PM

^^^
I noticed that too. Hockenheim has got to be the worst at it now becuase there is so much paved run off instead of gravel. Great for saftey but if the FIA/Charlie deosn't stop things like that from happening it can turn out like it did. It seems to me that they should handle that the same way they handle someone blowing a chicane. You should not be able to benefit from going off the track. If you make a pass with more then 2 wheels outside the racing surface then you should have to give it back in the next safe spot.
MattDell 07-28-2005 05:44 PM
I like BAR and Button is a great driver, I hope he stays. BAR just needs to get their act together.
Yeah, it's hard being a BAR fan this year.
ApexMaster 07-28-2005 07:02 PM

Alonso (always fast here and wants the title more than....)
Kimi (forever second place)
JPM (unless he screws it up)

one of my favorite tracks to watch, although there is never overtaking. JPM won't care and will try to pass, thats why i'm thinking he may have an off
menash23 07-29-2005 04:28 AM

This time its all Ferrari!!
GO RED!
speedyHAM 07-30-2005 01:35 PM

Looks like I only got 28 points this time. Fortunately, those of you who listed your picks didn't do too well either, except maybe Matt. We'll see how those who didn't list fared...

I thought it was kind of a boring race after JPM went out. You could just tell Kimi was going to be gone as soon as the pit stops came along.

Good call.
JPM impressed me with the way he handled his car breaking. He just got out and talked with his mech.s. No hissy fits or throwing the wheel or anything like that. He looked like, eh, it happens.
Overall a good race. Sucks for the Red Bulls.
BillT 08-01-2005 10:00 AM

Red Bull had the crap luck this weekend along with JPM. Up until his retirement, the race between the 2 stopper, JPM, and the 3 stoppers, Kimi and MS, looked to be pretty interesting. I think JPM had the pace to pull off the win. FA and Renault can't afford another performance like this weekend if they hope to pull the double with the manufacturer's and driver's championship.

Ferrari/Bridgestone can't seem to get the formula right. Early in the season, they sucked at qualifying but had great race pace especially in the last 1/3rd of the race and now the start off hot but fade badly in the last 1/3rd...unfortunately for them, even if they get it right, it will be a case of too little, too late.
REX8 08-01-2005 10:12 AM

I would have loved to see JPM pull off that win. He turned it on when he had to. His 6 second lead would have been interesting with the charging Kimi. I think he wasn't throwing a fit because he knew Kimi had had the same bad luck. I'm glad he has gotten to show his speed in the last few races and I can't be mad about Kimi getting a win after all his bad luck. I'd like to see both of them do well this season, and I'm looking foward to total world domination next year...
Dussander 08-01-2005 12:07 PM

I was on the edge of my seat until Juan went out. 3 guys all at a chance at first (except I knew Michael's tires would give). I think Michael held up Kimi a bit in the second stint which helped Juan stay so close. The big change this weekend was that Renault was completely out of it.
I'm still waiting for that McLaren 1/2. Kimi should have pole easily for the next race as long as he doesn't blow an engine in practice since Renalut and Juan get bad qualy times. Oh, so does Juan get a new motor now? Did he make it far enough into the race?
Red Bull had the worst luck. I would not like to roll an F1 car like that.
Wr4wrX 08-02-2005 05:11 AM

Anybody notice JPM's new helmet design? What'd ya think of it?
artkevin 08-02-2005 09:21 AM
Anybody notice JPM's new helmet design? What'd ya think of it?
I hate it. It looks like a child designed but come to think of it, he raced a child designed helmet back in Brazil 03 and that looked better. The only credit I give it is that it is now easier to tell him apart from Kimi from a distance. I love his "old" design before he added the white McLaren halo.
Dussander 08-02-2005 10:28 AM

I didn't like the new helmet.
Anyone else notice Montoya's reaction in the interview room after qualy, when they asked the last question to Michael. I about fell out of my chair laughing. Michael said something like, "we hope this is the return of Ferrari" and Montoya raised his brows and rolled his eyes up.
Dussander 08-02-2005 11:25 AM

Barrichello out, Massa in for 06. Talk.
Rubens Barrichello will leave Ferrari at the end of the current Formula One season, the Italian team said Tuesday.

Barrichello's place as number two driver to Michael Schumacher will be taken by fellow Brazilian Felipe Massa.

"Rubens Barrichello will leave Ferrari at the end of the 2005 season, bringing to an end a fruitful and successful collaboration that started in 2000 and helped bring us five constructors' championships," said a statement posted on Ferrari's official website.
artkevin 08-02-2005 12:06 PM

So in this muscial chair thing we got going here, who is everyones bet to get get screwed in the dirvers market. Rubens is offically w/o a drive now and Button has no clue. BMW might hire Jacques or might (should) let him go. They will most likely take Quick Nick with them from Williams leaving an open seat. Renualt hasn't said a word about Fisi but he might end up at Williams. This is all without taking considration that BAR seem to want Ant in a car but are still powered by a Japenese enigine and somehow seem to have a Japense driver. The silly season is in full swing!
rupertberr 08-02-2005 05:16 PM

According to three time WC Nelson Piquet, Rubens has a contract with BAR as of Saturday night, wether Button stays or not.
MattDell 08-02-2005 11:23 PM

This race screwed over a lot of people.
