second opinion... blue for the win...

I started to paint my wheels a metallic blue ( blue metal specks) and it looks cool but it's a little bright... so i picked up a few cans of midnight blue metallic and painted the other pair and it looks a little more subtle (almost black) but i like both colors i'm just torn between the two...

I like the brigt blue better, they look sick. The dark blue looks too black. Ballsy man!

yeah, i'm kinda leaning towards the bright blue too... just have to wait till it gets warmer so i can finish them... thanks for the input...

IMO the bright blue looks great when you are just looking at the wheel. It looks odd when looking at the whole car.
The midnight blue looks better with the car overall.
Of course, it's hard for me to judge since I'm used to seeing my silver BBS wheels on my white STi.
If anything, I've been tempted a few times to paint my calipers white or silver to match the wheels.

black.Something in the middle would look nice.

The bright ones look kind of nice, but they don't match the car. I'd go dark.

Bright blue is the way to go. I agree the darker blue has too much black in it.

The bright ones make it look like a clown car.

Heck no, the brighter blue looks tee-ats! Wow! Makes me think of the blue wheels you can get in GT3. Does not look clowny at all. Very unique! How many white cars have you seen with blue wheels? Zero! How many blue wheels have you seen on any cars? Zero (I think). How many white cars have you seen with black or blackish wheels? 87 gazillion!
I want to do mine! What paint did you use?
And what is that behind your car in the first pic?

The darker blue looks a lot better with the car as a whole. The "smurf" blue are too bright for my liking. My 2 cents.

im sure the dark ones against sunlight would shine blueish.. so.. i'd say the dark ones. those blue ones are a bit too bright for your car, imo.

You have balls to take a rattle can to a forged set of BBS wheels, balls which I don't or ever will have :p
I vote for a color inbetween the two. Something like the Magnesium Blue color on the Volk wheels.

i think you should forget the blue color and paint it white.

Agreed with that, the dark leaves no contrast although it does look better than the smurf color.
You good at masking? Paint the center groove of the spokes white? That would hold the contrast and look slick.
Anyone good with photochop, get a quick glimpse of it?

I like the darker blue personally. I like the subtle but there approach. The bright seems more show carish w/crazy vinyls..not bad though just a bit much for the street for me.
But it's your car so it's all you dude :)

It's made by dupli-color, it's called dark blue metallic. They have two other colors called shadow and midnight blue metallic. the caps look the same so you gotta read the labels. I also noticed that the blue that i painted my wheels with matches the blue of the "star" badge on the front, so it's a nic coincidence...

Nope, all you have to do is take some 1" masking tape and cut 2" long strips and tuck them in the lip around the tire and you'll get a nice seam to prevent over spray (be sure to cover the rest of the tire of course)
