Indoor karting race before USGP in Indy, June 19th. Deadline soon!

Saturday, June 19th, 6:30-10PM. The night before the USGP Formula One Race
What a perfect way to make your USGP experience complete!
Click here for a video of Fastimes Indoor Karting

Premiere European Style Indoor Karting. For more info, www.fastimesindoorkaring.com or check my site for Subaru specific info: http://home.indy.rr.com/thestreetman/karting.htm
I'm looking for 8 teams of four people each from each city/region. If you don't have 4, or have more than 4 that's fine, I'm sure we'll have half the field on mix matched teams. However, St Louis said they could kick Chicago's ass. When asked about Ohio, Michigan, Wisconsin, and Texas? They just laughed and said, "They don't even justify a comment from us."
Jeez...you guys gunna take that? From the "show me state"?
What's all the excitement of a unique racing experience cost? Total cost, everything included, $92.92. The $2.92 is the paypal fee. The $90 will cover EVERYTHING else, including catering (you'll be hungry after a day at the track), and any extras we decide on later (prizes, trophy's, hmmm...prize money?)
DEADLINE TO PAY IS NEXT FRIDAY, MAY 21ST!
We have a very limited opportunity here. That weekend, as you can imagine, is VERY popular. I've worked out an arrangement with Fastimes, provided we pay that day or sooner. Please, don't make me sweat until the last minute, I'll do enough of that in the kart. If you can pay, pay now. If your friends can't, can you sponsor them for now? C'mon, help some bruthas out. This is in your hands now, I've done all I can.
Payment by paypal is preferred. I will wait for everyone to pay, before accepting anyone's payments. If we don't get the full 32 people paid, I will offer a FULL refund, minus the paypal fee. Again, I just can't cover $2.92 for everyone if this doesn't fly. You can use secure pay by clicking the buy now button at this link:*PAY HERE*
C'mon, do it already. All the cool kids are. Itll make you feel good.

OUTSTANDING, SOLDIER! That's the way it's done. Now, can you find 31 more people with the same commitment?
4mla1fn is my new favorite person.
Hey, is there a place to put your screen name in when you go through my paypal link? I can't test my own link.
If there is, can everyone PLEASE put your screen name in there somewhere?

I'm sure we can find some others. Like I said, I figure half the field will be randoms. Thanks, both of you for the quick response. Makes me hopeful this is going to fly.
Everyone else, get on board. You might not have a spot if this keeps up.

Hey, fellas. Just thought of something. If this doesn't fly, I'm out almost $2.91 for each person paid. Could you guys include that in the payment?
For you first three, don't worry about it. An you know what? I don't have time to change my link right now. From now until I change it, you save a whole $3. Get to signing up already now.
If you're just thinking about it, let me know here, so I know I've got some interest.

I've been telling everyone that is going to Indy about it.

i'll be bummed if this doesn't come together. $90 for 2hrs is steal.
hey streetman, here's a looney idea. do you think the track could facilitate connecting us with another group who may also be struggling to get their minimum?? i don't know if they'd do something like that though it would be in their interest to have the place sold out. just an idea. (32more days before i make my pilgrimage to indy.)

Yeah, it's an idea. I've contacted the guys at the local Audi Club, and some of them might get in. I don't want to go too crazy with opening it up to whoever, as that can sometimes lead to trouble.
For all the people who asked me about it, there's not a whole lot signed up. Perhaps I should have posted this in General?

| jibco | 05-17-2004 03:04 PM |
Do you guys have any other local clubs that would be interested? Looks like we need people, no matter what club.
Anyone that is interested and going to be in indy, I really don't see a down-side. It will totally be worth the money.
Do we know what group we were in conflict with for that night? Maybe some of them?

Well, once again this is going to be like last year. Everyone asks about it, until it's time to pay, and now everyone is going to show up, and ask if we're going to do it. It's now or never, and looks like never.
However, I'll make one last attempt at reaching out to other groups, for the sake of the people who got on board. If I do somehow pull this off, we all have to agree to be good little boys while racing. Yes, rubbing is racing, but at 40 MPH, stuffing someone into a wall hurts.
You all cool with that?

Yeah man. It's just recreation. I'd keep it civil no matter who we were going wheel-to-wheel with.
I'll call a few more people.

Cool, thanks for the help. I changed the price on the Pay Now button to $92.92. Sorry, had to do it. $2.92 is now non-refundable. I just couldn't cover it for more than a couple people. If anyone knows of a better way, let me know.

So what's the deal? Are we racing or not?

I was waiting for a call from fastimes today, telling me if we can extend it out any. Should we? This hasn't gone off as planned. I don't get it, but that's the way it is. I know everyone who shows up will want to go karting, but by that time it'll be too late.
I'm all ears on what to do. I'll call fastimes again tomorrow, to see if we even need to debate it.

Called again, no return call. Their sales staff is outsourced, so don't let the lack of follow up reflect on the track. Also, I haven't run off with your money. Rest assured too many people know me. Oh yeah, I also have directions to my house on my site, and value my life.
Any feedback on how long we should attempt this, if we still can? I'll give it the ole college try, if I get the OK from fastimes.

You must be psychic. I just got off the phone with them,a nd they said they've got someone else who might take it, and they have until the 3rd. If we get our --it in order by then, we may be able to still do it. I'm up for a big push, if you all are cool to wait that long, and also give me a hand. I need to hit some of the smaller sites, postwhore the event around other forums here, and hit some more local car clubs. Maybe it'll turn into Subaru vs Honduh vs Toyota vs Audi, etc. Right now, I'm not sure how many, guessing around only a quarter full. Lame, but with a serious effort, we may pull it off. Throw enough --it at a wall...

got a message from them this morning, finally. In the end, the other group got the spot, it wouldn't have mattered how many signed up. They got the royal treatment because they got bumped from a different spot. Oh well, win some lose some.
I will be refunding everyone's $$ via paypal tonight. Working right now, and it's going to take some time to sort through who paid, who paid for 2, and who paid $90 and who paid $92.92. As I said though, I WILL get your $$ to you.
Now, what to do that Saturday, if you're not karting. All sorts of things on my website, if you haven't checked there.

CHECK YOUR PAYPAL ACCOUNT!!!
The reason I say this, is to make sure the funds go where you want them. I have no control over this. They may be sitting in your paypal balance, and NOT in you bank balance. This happened to me once, and caused some confusion.
That really sucked. Now, what do you guys want to do that night?

The Saturday night before the race, us locals are meeting up with the Audi club at the Ale Emporium, 7 pm-??? Lots of imported beer on tap and bottled. LOTS. Also, probably the best pizza in town. Lots of parking too. I need a headcount to save some seats. Gimme the number of people in your group, and I'll set it up. If you don't get counted, you're fighting for seats at the bar, and it's going to be buuuuuusy!
Looking forward to meeting y'all.

Very simple, 465 is the loop around Indy. On the NE side, about 2 o'clock is Allisonville. Take it north about half a mile to the LARGE parking area on your right. NE corner of the intersection. Look for lots of Subaru's and Audi's.

I just got a call today on this. If you want to get in, these are all the details I have. PLEASE, don't ask me, ask them. I'm struggling to keep up with the emails at this point.
Some of my friends have done this over the years, at full price, and say it's worth it. They've been around for a LONG time, and have a good reputation. I'm considering robbing a bank to be able to go to this. Unreal deal, really. Plus, you can go smoke some Ferrari guys. Here's ALL you need to know:

I bet you slid it too much in the hairpin, and didn't keep it wide open in the corkscrew. It's a fairly tricky track. fun though, eh? Everyone who races there once has no problem justifying $90 for a full blown race.
| MattDell | 06-21-2004 02:58 PM |
Nope, the people behind me just didn't understand braking before you turn. So, the first time I go barreling up the ramp to the 2nd floor, I brake a little before the turn since I've never gone around it before, but the douchebag behind me keeps the throttle on and get my right rear corner and slammed me into the wall. Mind you, we were all 1st timers, most of them europeans. The "neck brace" was too small for me and probably hurt more than it helped.
I was getting some sick lap times once I figured the course out, though. I think if I was given another 8 minutes I could've gone down into the low 26's, high 25's.

Bad place to go into the wall. I used to work there, and saw someone hit there once. When I got to the kart, he couldn't speak because the wind was knocked out of him so hard.
It's hard to say what a good lap time is, as I haven't been to the track in a while. It changes throughout the year, as the temps allow more rubber on the track, or more is pulled up. I've run mid 24's for my best.

I was definitely VERY close to having the wind knocked outta me. Luckily that didn't happen and I just got a sore neck/back. Still worth the $20.
We went karting Saturday night because we arrived early and couldn't find anything to do. So we went to Fastimes and they said they were having a private session, but they'd open back up at 11 until 3. So we ate, went downtown and took some pics, saw some HOT cars (new C6), and then went back to karting.

We got some ( . ) ( . )'s rubbed in our faces Saturday night. :D
I'm sure we would have gone karting that night if they would have told us they were open.
