JDM Pinstripes! Yes or no? part 1

Mr. Sadface 11-09-2006 08:27 PM

JDM Pinstripes! Yes or no?
So I received my newest order from Japan the other day, but I'm having second thoughts. So, I'm turning to my extended family for some input.

With my new Work Emotion CR Kai's and green SYMS lugs, I wanted to add a little extra rare JDM bling. I ended up nabbing a set of SYMS wagon pinstripes. They are the same darker green color as the lugs. They looked pretty low key as far as pinstripes go, but now I'm second guessing it.

The stripe runs the length of the car, and the SYMS logo is near the rear.
Here's a shot of them on a Legacy (biggest pic I could find):

Now, imagine them on my wagon w/bronze Works:

What do you all think? Too much? JDM tight yo?
tasq 11-09-2006 08:28 PM

Leave it be.
AWD>FWD 11-09-2006 08:36 PM

Yeah, your car is clean enough. You still have those burn marks on your bumper though?
coolcatcolin 11-09-2006 08:39 PM

dont do the pin stripe. Your car looks awesome!!
Mr. Sadface 11-09-2006 08:45 PM

Haha, yeah. It like chest hair...adds character.
turbo tecnica 11-09-2006 08:47 PM

JDM pinstripes are the same as American pinstripes, it just has the SYMS logo stuck in it. Your wagon is clean without it... "if it ain't broke, don't fix it"
only1agam 11-09-2006 09:12 PM

naw.. thats one jdm thing id pass on
sixtsix 11-09-2006 09:19 PM

It ain't broken.
Please don't fix.
Subie Gal 11-09-2006 09:26 PM

+1

Pinstripes belong on classic American cars, not on a Subaru.

same goes for the corvette stripes I've seen on subaru fenders
Mr. Sadface 11-09-2006 09:57 PM

Thanks guys! I appreciate the honest input.
Hondaslayer 11-09-2006 09:59 PM

I think they would look sweet on your car.

Finish it off with the JDM tailgate garnish and it would be extremely hot

:)
Ryan314 11-09-2006 10:15 PM

yankees ftl.

Hahahaha, then where are your cone marks?;)
stentorian 11-09-2006 10:38 PM

The syms pinstripe for their GF8 wagon actually looked pretty good. I can't find a pic to show right off hand though. I say go for it.

amukaoen 11-09-2006 11:13 PM

Dooooooooooo It!
Mr. Sadface 11-09-2006 11:19 PM
what kind of body kit is that dude. i have the same color wagon dude, i love your setup.
It's not really a body kit per se. I've got the JDM front and rear lips, the JDM front aero guards, and regular old side strakes.
imprezaowner27 11-09-2006 11:44 PM

Im starting to appreciate the wagon more and more
kennyvb 11-09-2006 11:44 PM

I don't know, I may go for it. We'll see.
Thaddy 11-10-2006 12:28 AM

It's not a Corolla.

pin stripes ftl
ittybitty_STI 11-10-2006 06:54 AM

NO WAY leave your ride alone with pinstripes thats one of the nicest wagons i have seen! Keep up the good work man.
STix66 11-10-2006 09:55 AM

keep it clean and mean....

dont go ridin' dirty
BurtonCR 11-10-2006 09:56 AM

I say try it out. You came to the wrong forum if you want opinions on JDM products. Very few people here really understand and appreciate JDM styling so I wouldnt listen to opinions (I wouldnt even have asked)

Go for it. Worst case scenario you take them off.
russd32 11-10-2006 10:05 AM

Just because someone did it in Japan doesn't mean it will look good. No stripe FTW!
Mr. Sadface 11-10-2006 10:38 AM

Hmm... I didn't know the 'Interior & Exterior Modification & Care' forum was strictly for USDM topics. My bad.

Ha, no no I meant Nasioc in general. I am all about JDM styling, but I expect 99% of Nasioc to hate it.

I say put them on, give it a try. its your car do what you want. but, if all the syms products you have are the lugs, then id wait until you had more syms items on your car
darroj 11-10-2006 12:14 PM

i had factory pinstripes on my 01 outback ltd sedan... couldnt stand them.
bruiser63 11-10-2006 01:44 PM

your wagon is so f**king sick! i wouldn't put them on but i don't think it would look bad either. so just go with your gut on this one. you obviously have good taste!
pleue 11-10-2006 01:44 PM

without i think maybe spend the cash on somethin else likew green powdercoated brembos
step down 11-10-2006 01:48 PM

it might look good
Nico Flax 11-10-2006 02:09 PM

I say put them on! Honestly what do you have to lose, drive around with them for a couple of days, see how you like it. If you don't then take'em off, but if you do then horraaahh!!
Shibbs 11-10-2006 03:00 PM

Its your car. Do you like them? If you do, put them on, if you don't, re-sell them (and make some cash if you snagged them for cheap)

I personally am not a fan of pinstripes/decals/anything besides paint. Your wagon is clean as hell, I say stick with what you got, I love it as it sits. But, again, its your gorgeous car.
kyleblix 11-10-2006 07:37 PM

Dont do it!!
jmhubbard01 11-10-2006 08:59 PM

Well for sure what other have said here. If you want you should DOOO it.

My neighbor runs a car painting and pinstriping business (relatively famous guy at it too) and wants to stripe my '05 WRX. Says a darker version of the PS - 2 lines would be very nice and clean and suite the car perfectly.

He mostly does great american classics and I trust him and all, but man, I like where I am going with the clean lines and all.

I know why you're debating, 'cause I am too...If you decide to do, I'd love to see it when you got it done!
jmonty 11-10-2006 10:38 PM

i would say pass on the pin stripes
