Hmm, they look like a pretty slick set of wipers. Might have to grab a pair before the rain comes down!
| kyleblix | 10-26-2006 08:32 PM |
I've never heard of these, are they good wipers?
| Sushiplate | 10-26-2006 08:37 PM |
I got the PIAA blades and I'm never getting rid of them. It's like Rainx treating my windshield every time I use em. Not a bad deal on those at tirerack either.

Yes, They are great. A buddy of mines has them on his VW R32.

people inserting self-reassuring but totally useless and uneducated opinions FTL! if you dont have experience with more than the ones you currently have on your car, than shaddup.
i just found this on tirerack as well and as long as they get decent reviews i'll be picking up a set. my oem ones are pretty horrible at this point and the valeos so far look pretty good and at $20 for two, you cant beat that :).

The Valeos are excellent blades, I have a set on my WRX that's over a year old and still working well. I could never get the Bosch Micro-Edge, my previous "favorite" blades, to last more than several months. I have Valeos on the GTO as well.
I don't see a price on the Tire Rack site for these, FYI Auto Barn has them on sale for $14.95 each. It's possible that with shipping they are more expensive at Tire Rack even with the 2-for-1 sale.
edit- just checked a bit more, they are $19.99 at TR plus about $7 shipping, so that's approx. $27 for a pair with the sale vs. $30 + tax at Auto Barn. A bit cheaper to order them, or for a few $ more pick them up at a local store.

If you go to Tirerack website it's 19.99 for one wiper blade. So it would cost 2x $19.99 (passenger and driver) + $7 shipping = $47. Approx. $24 for a pair with their special offer.
| Mulder | 11-22-2006 10:08 PM |
The shipping is still $7 for two blades. So it's $27 for two with the offer.
| TROLL | 11-22-2006 10:13 PM |
yup, just under $27 for my order which I placed today.
| Mulder | 11-22-2006 10:38 PM |
And I'm not knocking TR here, it is a good deal. I got my first set of Valeos from them at full price but considering how well they work and how long they've lasted, it was worth it. It's just that personally since I have an Auto Barn nearby I'd just go pick up a set locally for a few $ more, but for those without that option this is a great deal.
| Psybin | 11-22-2006 10:51 PM |
It doesnt list for an 06 TR. An 05 it says 17" Passenger side 22" Driver side wiper. Same for the 06 I assume?
| Mulder | 11-22-2006 10:56 PM |
Should be the same, I don't think anything has changed from 02-06.
| Psybin | 11-23-2006 12:56 AM |
Thanks, I just wanted to make sure. Its almost 07 and they cant update the site, laugh. I'm going to order a set, should come in handy this winter.
Shipping for me was $9.23
Total $29.22

Anyone know if the Bosch or Valeo ones are better?
| Handsdown | 11-27-2006 04:32 PM |
i just put a bosch icon on the driver's side, it's good but it's not miraculous-- i doubt the valeos are significantly better.
i do think the lack of a metal external bracket is cool, but i think there's a certain level to which a wiper will function, beyond that the extra performance doesn't really matter.

I had the Valeos way back when I first changed my blades. They don't perform that much better, but did seem to hold up longer.
I just got Anco blades. There's a $10 rebate for the aero advantage so they will end up costing $7 for both sides.
I would have gotten Veleos, but the nearest tirerack warehouse was out of stock so they wanted like $15 to ship from seperate warehouses or wait until they come back in stock from the closer one. I figured for $7 the Anco is better than Veleos for $27 and having to wait unknown weeks.

These may differ, but I've tried Bosch, Rain-X and other brands, and none have particularly impressed me more than another.
So every year I buy Anco at Wal-Mart for like $4-5 a pop, once in the spring and once in late fall (summer/winter blades). They also have the easiest connectors, takes two seconds to unhook them.

Nice deal. $28.30 shipped.

OP- Thanks for the heads up on this deal. I just bought mine for both of my subies.
Does anyone know where to get brand name blades for the rear wagon windows?
Autozone and advance do not sell them where I am at. The OEM blades dont even make it through one winter here, thats why I am trying these Valeo's this time.
TIA
Jay-R

I just picked up a couple of 16" blades for for the WRX and our Legacy at Tire Rack. It offered up a rear wiper for the WRX, not the Leg, but they're both the same size.
$60 worth of wipers and $14.47 frieght.
Thanks for the tip - it's the first time I've had to buy wipers for these cars. They've all been warranty so far, 1x per year.
Psybin - you shouldn't buy blades, bring the car to the dealer for free ones. My parents and I have had four Subie dealers warranty blades under the 3/36 bumper-to-bumper portion of the warranty over the years.

Thats kind of funny about the rear blades for our wagons. I have 2 wagons and I called tire rack and they said they dont carry them. i got 4 fronts and 0 backs.
What is the PN you used for the rears?

There's no part number on the invoice, just:
16" Valeo Ultimate Wiper BLade (EA)
for 2002 Subaru Impreza WRX Wagon
I measured the OE blade on the car, it's about 15.25", but there's enough room if the Valeo blade is 16".

You know those wipers (the silicon ones) actually DO leave a think layer of silicon on your windshield every sweep. So they are, literally, treating your windshield every time you use them.
Obviously you need to get rid of them every year for fresh blades though. :)

I am running valeo's on both my cars. Running 1 inch bigger for driver and passenger on the WRX. Holding up alot better than the tricos which lasted me a month and then failed in the rain on a road trip!!!!!

hey those valeo wipers are made like 5 minutes from my house. my gf is starting her internship at the valeo in a couple weeks!

^^ the second one is free...just put it in your cart, and it comes up as $0.00

picked up two sets, one for the forester the other from my OBS. ordered them at 4pm wednesday, were at my door 1PM thursday. can't beat that, it helps that there is a tirerack warehouse less than 15miles from my house.
i'll have to wait for some rain to make an opinion on quality. the lack of hooks looks real clean though.
