Freeskier 10-15-2001 12:54 PM

Off Topic

SSJ Char: your post has nothing to do with this thread and from what I saw you are about 440 posts away from losing the name Scoobie Newbie. I too have the same title and it doesn't bother me one bit. I am still learning everyday.

On Topic

I'm glad that Tommi is now with Subaru. I kind of like Burns as well but it would be nice to have Tommi and Burns as the main drivers for Subaru. But I think Burns will be going to Peugot or at least thats what the rumors are syaing.

SubEd 10-15-2001 12:57 PM

There won't be 2 main drivers on the team....
Samirr76 10-15-2001 12:59 PM

Subie gal is going to hunt you down NOW Daniel.
DigitalRonin 10-15-2001 01:49 PM

This is great news for the Subie team.

Just caught speedvision over the weekend and Tommi is one intense fella. I like his style!

Should be a fun season to watch in 2002!

Woot woot woot!
Dolphin Overton 10-15-2001 04:22 PM

I don't think Burns sucks, I just think Tommi is a much better driver... Now if Burns and Makkinen were both driving for Subaru that would be sweet! The would probably drive each other to be better.
Tangmere 10-15-2001 08:44 PM

Burns may be a whiny little female dog, but I would trade my best day behind the wheel for his worst...

Here's to a Tommi Makinen Special Edition WRX.

:D

First off, I think all the Burns bashing is CRAP. When you can drive faster than him through a rally circuit, then you can start talkin *****.

But back to the point, he was driving for Subaru, and as a result I supported him. Now that he's moving onto other manufacturers, I don't really care how he does, as long as a Subaru (reguardless of the driver) is at a higher score standing than he is. I'm just loyal to the manufacturer, that's all. When Subaru starts making stupid moves then I'll reconsider if they're worth my fan-ship (is that a word?).

OTOH, it'll be interesting to see how Makkinen does for Subaru...I'm pretty sure the 2002 season will be a good one (especially for Subaru). They just better keep the blue & yellow theme on the cars.
redobs 10-15-2001 11:02 PM

TM7...where is it???:D
Shik 10-15-2001 11:07 PM

Some of you guys are pretty funny. Please don't forget Burns came mighty close to bringing the driver's title to Subaru, and although it can be said that he made a few mistakes along the way, his car did as well. Many can argue that if he had a more reliable car in the past few years, he would have multiple driver's titles with Subaru. Not to mention this year isn't over yet...

Opinions about Burns as a person is understandable, but saying he sucks(as a driver) is just absolutely mindless. I wish him the best of luck at Pug next year.

And the best of luck to Tommi as well. But to say Subaru will be champions because of Tommi alone(if it indeed happens) is again, mindless.
Berns 10-16-2001 02:34 AM

Tight-tight!!! :D  :D

Yeah, and I'm sure you've never criticized a football or baseball player during a game either, right? If we could only talk about the fields that we work professionally in, this would be a pretty boring board... Anyone want to talk about the relative merits or problems of Mircosoft's upcoming .NET initiative?

Didn't think so. :D

Well, you can go back about 3 years and look at Tommi and Burns both driving the same Mitsu, and Tommi driving circles around Burns.
I dont think anyone here said they were a better driver than Burns, but we all have the right to criticize.
grandmasterchan 10-16-2001 10:45 AM

In the revolving door of the WRC drivers, you really didn't think that Burns would forever be with Subaru. Change is good. It seems every team has a great chance to win it next year. This is what makes the WRC so fun to watch.

The competition is top notch.
WRX Fan 10-16-2001 06:41 PM

Burns just signed with Peugot Sport for 2002 and 2003.
phantasm 10-16-2001 10:26 PM

When does the season officially kick off?

To repeat what I've said in another forum:

I'm looking forward to next year. Makinen will make a great addition to the Subaru team. And if Petter Solberg improves some more, that's a good combo. I think that McRae and Sainz are probably the best one-two combo out there right now.

But watch out for Peugeot with Burns, Gronholm, Rovanpera, and Panizzi.... that sounds like a good amount of depth.
AnJuMoN 10-18-2001 12:32 AM

So.... has Burns officially signed with pug yet? Ya think there's any chance he might stay? I doubt it, but wouldnt that be sweet?
iodine23 10-18-2001 02:22 AM

Yes he has signed with Peugeot. Check www.rally-live.com
