Morette Rear Lamps
What do people think of these? I've not seen them in the flesh, only the picture on the website.

I love the Morette headlights on ALL Subarus. I have a set on my Legacy. I don't really care for the tails but hey to each his own.

Looks hideous to me.. Picturing them painted in my head doesn't make them look any better either. I like the altezzas better than those. Whoa did i just say that..i take that back, i equally dis-like them both. Plus unlike the headlamp morettes which are funtional because they can give you better lighting at night when driving, these rear lights don't really serve a function.

Ok... Smart Alec  pretty much everyone else who has read this knows EXACTLY what I meant, but since you are from Florida and even need help voting (DUH) I'll explain EXACTLY what I was talking about...
Those Morette housings are actually 'indented' and the areas where the bulbs are stick out like 5 pimples... So most of the surface area of the light is further in than the body panels, while the lenses are further out. Has anyone said "Gee, you stock tailight housings stick out approx. 1/8 inch from your car" (I have a wagon) or for those with the sedan have they heard "Wow the bottom edge of you lights are a 1/4 of an inch in with those bulged fenders" You are correct in that a portion of the light (see photo) is not 'flush', but with these Morettes the ENTIRE housing is set in. they look like an Altezza housing with the lens cover left off. I showed these things to a few of my friends, the first thing everyone mentioned was they look "set in" or "indented"... like a 'Chad'
BTW I am only messing with you (before ya get bent out of shape by the Fla. jokes, my grandmother lived in Miami)... but lighten up on the agressiveness a little dude :D Somebody wizz in your Cheerios?
P.S. Thank you to whoever's car photo I used :D

Funny you used a picture of my friend's car. =)
But I thought you were referring to the edge you're pointing the arrow out, where the fender extends past the taillight.
On my screen the Morette taillights don't look set into the frame anymore than stock, I think it might be a shadow effect of some sort but they look completely flush to me. Although that's not a very good digital picture in the first place, so we shouldn't actually judge anything by that picture alone. I'd like some hi-res close up shots of them before making up my mind on whether or not I like them. As of now I have no comment on if I like them or not. Perhaps with a carbon fiber housing they might be more appealing.

After I posted that, I sat back and said to myself, I bet he is a friend of yours, that would be ironic (I see he had Fla. plates) :D  I couldn't resist whipping out a 'Chad' joke, forgive me :) Ya, it could be an optical illusion (shadow or loss of depth) that the photo is causing, the other photo (the black one) look like they are inset a little less. A bigger clearer pic would definitely help. Could be prototype jobbies too... I agree 'final' judgement must be reserved until somone actually has them and take a pic, but can you imagine if the housings are actually flush with the body?? then the 5 lenses (10 actually total) will actually stick out  yikes like big pimples. I saw an Accord with lights like that today. Looked like he put Skyline tailights on and added four transparent, red ashtrays to the back of the lamps.
Come to think of it the answer may be between both of us, Maybe the way they are made is so that the lenses are flush. Therefore the housing (the blue portion in the pic) needs to be a little set in to achieve the look they wanted. We'll see soon enough, they are still funny looking though:lol:

Well what's WEIRD is that in the first close-up pic of them, the lights in the housings aren't protruding outwards (like pimples) as they are in the far away full body shot. They look to be more flat, instead of rounded. I have a good feeling they will look a lot better when they are finalized and released. I'm sure these will look a lot better once people have them and are painting them to match. I mean, I haven't seen anything ugly come from Morette yet. I love the headlights for the WRX and the Pre-2002 Imprezas.
If Morette made just a single lens for the brake light, instead of two small ones next to each other, but larger and not round, more oval shaped but stretched around to each end of the taillight it would look very sharp and tasteful. I need to start drawing pictures and mailing them to companies like Morette and get some more not-so-wild lenses made. I want a Euro look, all red light with smoked clear lenses. Like how I did mine:

I think if they put the mixed the signal and the brake light into one, and then made the rear driving light bigger, then if they were to put the back up light in the lower right corner they would actually look pretty sweet. There are to many holes, like something out of start wars or something. I made a little pic in paint so please pardon my artistic stupidity.
